I do wish we still had Mags and Pudge in their prime playing right now. Hopefully we can get an avenging win for them.I'm sure the Tigers want to avenge that 06' lost against the Cardinals.

I'm getting less and less confident that Farrell will be our manager next year :(
And STL running away with it tonight.
And I hate Delmon Young.
[QUOTE="Master_Live"][QUOTE="Blabadon"] SAAAANCHEZBlabadonHehe, he too. I can't believe they got Sanchez and Fister to play at those levels after they traded for them. I don't know if it's pitching coach or what, but Dombrowski is really intent on winning.
People have always overlooked Anibal Sanchez. He was a damn good pitcher for the Marlins. He's easily a #2 in this league, I'd even say borderline ace. His ERA has never been amazing, but his other stats have been great.

And Fister was really good when they got him. Not THIS good, but really overlooked. Just got no help from Seattle's offense and had a 3-12 record but a 3.33 ERA. When they got him though, he was incredible (8-1, 1.79 ERA) and pretty good this year. I'd love for Toronto to sign Sanchez. He's be a very, very good #3 guy and if Romero is any good, an excellent #4. I don't see him a #2 on our team, as we'll be trading for that or an ace. But I agree with you, he could be on a lot of team.[QUOTE="yokofox33"][QUOTE="Blabadon"] I can't believe they got Sanchez and Fister to play at those levels after they traded for them. Lord knows we need pitching, and we would have essentially gotten Turner and Brantley for Infante:lol:
But we ain't spending money this year on FAs.

Not after last year. I expect they'll try and shed salary, starting with Bell.

Yeah, we're not spending. If we spend money it's going towards a long term contract for Stanton. And I'd be fine with that.
LOL. Have fun watching the series at home Yankees! Cardinals vs. Tigers. Yankees and Pujols must be crying.TheWalkingGhost
The Angels did have a better record than STL though. And Beltran probably would not be a Cardinal if Pujols had re-signed.
But yes, it's quite funny they are 1-win away from the WS even without Pujols.
All Buster is asking for is a handshake.

It's a testament of how the Cardinals were and are a well built team and not a team that was solely built around Pujols.
So this happened.
Yoko, you must be happy getting rid of him.
Anything Beane touches seems to work out, so Young will probably have a great year.
Sounds like John Farrell will be the Red Sox next mananger.

Don't know how AA got from "no doubt he's our guy" to this. Had to come from above, or he lied.
I'm more than okay with this. In addition to the fact that he generally knows the team, there really weren't any managers available with any sort of positive track record, and i'll take someone who has managerial experience over giving some assistant the most scrutinized job in baseball

Farrell has had very little success though, and watching him for 2 years, although I'm a fan of his, I really question his decisions sometimes. Very poor bullpen management, stupid decisions to tell runners to go, and had a HOF call his clubhouse out at the end of the year. That final episode probably made it easier for him to go.
Some Boston media would have rather seen Hale or Ausmus. Lack of experience doesn't really matter anymore, to me....just look at Matheny and Ventura this season. A lot of people in baseball love the idea of Ausmus managing, and fellow players...Pettitte,and Lidge are two, support him. I'd like him to get a chance with us.
I think it'll be Alomar Jr though and could see Robbie as staff.
You're also taking on Adam Lind's contract apperently. 27M over 4 years, with a 3M buyout next year. Not sure where he fits...can't really play 1B.Word is the compensation is only Mike Aviles. This is offically a great move on the Red Sox part.

EDIT: So how was this thing not tampering? They came after him for 2 seasons. Was it cause they never actually talked to Farrell, only management, until he was officially traded and they could sign him?
So this happened.

Very happy. I don't care what we got in return, but we're saving 13 million, so I'm happy. It was clear he hated Miami, the club hated him, and he sucked balls.

lol@we're saving 13 million.[QUOTE="Blabadon"]Tigers fans clamoring to know who we face, but it looks like it'll come down to Game 7. PSP107Who do Tigers fans rather face? I'd say Cards for redemption and Giants for the less amount of right handed batters. Redemption trumps that I guess, so Cards.
If anyone is flukey it's the Cardinals, just saying. Team shouldn't even be in the playoffs with this second wild card crap.-Halftime-
Agreed. The Giants were consistently good for most of the year. The Cardinals, while still a solid team, was never a great team. Their mediocrity was awarded with a "playoff" berth. Teams get hot at the right times. If the Astros were allowed to play in the playoffs you're telling me they just suddenly can't rattle off 2-3 games in a row to win a playoff series?
Maybe an extreme example, but you get the point.
