[QUOTE="tenaka2"]

[QUOTE="lowe0"] Those attributes of a product don't say anything about the person using it, though.lowe0

At this point you have glued the goal posts to your ears and are running around a large field.

You asked for proof that consoles are cheaper, I provided you with it.

You can either accept reality or reject it, peasant.

Not at all. I didn't ask for proof that consoles are cheaper; I asked for proof that using a console is a conclusive determinant of one's financial status.

By some reason, you don´t ask consolites for proof when they call us hermits.

lowe, I will prove you that consolites are peasants if you provide me evidence that PC gamers are hermits.

I don't claim that they are; I'm quite careful not to use the term.

then you should go argue after every person who uses a fanboy term such as hermit, cow, sheep, lemming. They are all no different than using console peasant.  It's pretty obvious you are biased.  They're just fanboy terms, not needed for serious debate

I don't bother, because it's on the list of approved nicknames, per the forum rules. I don't care for any of the platform nicknames really, but those are the rules.

Then peasant is an established nickname put by the PC community.

But the rules don´t prohibit it either. The nickname peasant was being used for many years. If you don´t like some slang, don´t use it, but you can´t prohibit its use for other people.

It's useless waste of time. It's a simple internet meme, based off a youtube video game review.  It's not serious, and all you are doing is derailing the actual thread, which is all you do even though you always tell people to stick to the point. All you do is go off point on petty crap

I said it's unnecessary to argue over what people can/cannot say on a free forum, and your problem is that you only pay attention to those little details & nitpicking them while ignore the overall argument/topic.

Jesus Christ! The term peasant is used to describe console gamers because they have bought a cheaper product. And before you start yet again, this is an internet forum. You are not meant to take offense at everything.

I read pre-built, I think this is a big one. Alienware owners are looked at as lazy (wannabe) pc gamers who would rather get ripped of than piece their own custome machine. I think a seed of the contempt lays there.

Its mainly price, but pre-built is part of it (and hence the cost)

Pre Built = Warrenty = 2 years standard on my Chillblast PC! Sorry but the cost difference is becoming more and more minimal! IGN recently did an article on the Pro's and Con's of each and building your own to have one component go wrong is just a massive ball ache. Also i could build a PC but when it comes to identifying issues you need a lot fo patience and understanding of how and why the bits you slotted in have stopped working. Pre Built done correctly is easily as good as making your own.

So if they do have some technical knowledge, it makes looking down on others okay? If I have a deeper technical education than you and a more expensive PC, would you think it was right of me to look down on you?

Something goes wrong you have to figure out which component it is then remove it then send it to the manufacturer in question. My PC is not an Alienware either its made by a UK company called Chillblast and the price was decent enough to justify. Its not hard to make your own but it has risks.

So your point basically is just being lazy and instead of trying to identify the problem by yourself, you push it to others. Internet are free, it's not that hard to search (or ask) for solution, gain some knowledge in the middle and know how to avoid it later. But you probably don't care about any of that anyway.

Every part of PC comes with a warranty btw.

Ey, if you wanna quote at least quote it right. I said Alienware owners shouldn't look down on other PC gamers with less expensive hardware while they themselves lack knowledge about the matter.

You ignoring half of my argument and go cry about another half just proves my point previously.

So if they do have some technical knowledge, it makes looking down on others okay? If I have a deeper technical education than you and a more expensive PC, would you think it was right of me to look down on you?

Well you probably would since you're an elitist

[QUOTE="lostrib"]

[QUOTE="jwsoul"] Pre Built = Warrenty = 2 years standard on my Chillblast PC! Pre Built done correctly is easily as good as making your own. jwsoul

The parts in most custom built PC's have 2-3 year warranties anyways

Something goes wrong you have to figure out which component it is then remove it then send it to the manufacturer in question. My PC is not an Alienware either its made by a UK company called Chillblast and the price was decent enough to justify. Its not hard to make your own but it has risks.

All you said was that prebuilt's come with warranty, but PC components come with warranties anyways

[QUOTE="lowe0"] The post I quoted was about how Alienware owners shouldn't look down on other PC gamers with less expensive hardware. How is "PC gamers shouldn't look down on console gamers with less expensive hardware" not relevant to that?lowe0

Yes, you had the right to correct my mistake about the matter if I was ignorant about it (how expensive the PC is just a small part). I value gaining knowledge over some fragile internet pride anyday. And don't tell me that consolites don't act like a bunch of dumbfvcks who never listen to reason.

If an Alienware owner had any technical knowledge, he woudn't have an Alienware. Alienware owners with technical knowledge who look down on other PC owners don't exist.

[QUOTE="jwsoul"][QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"] Its mainly price, but pre-built is part of it (and hence the cost)rjdofu

In a fashion perhaps. I have encountered problems with Raid Zero on my old PC which took me days to fix DAYS! It was not a simple solution either. I think in this day and age some people havent got the time or the wil to spend fiddling about with PC components! Just because you enjoy it does not mean i do or the next fellow. Like i said the line is blurring between making your own and pre built. Remember these Pre Built PCs from the right company are close to what you could do yourself. The cost is coming down because the companies who make the PC's themselves can by stock at a lower price than the average consumer. That coupled with the warranty is starting to win over many people.

Well actually I think he has more problem with "finding the problem" than the warranty itself. He prefer the whole package warranty, so that he doesn't have to worry about anything or learn anything.

Fair enough, that's a valid point, it's a personal thing, and I understand people don't want to waste their time. But I believe people who build their own PC tends to avoid mistake & able to fix it better than those who just buy the whole thing.

Outside of apple, most customer services are just call centers which try to talk to you about finding the problem, but they're really not much better than just googling the problem.  I would say the one benefit, is that once they find the problem they may send a service tech to replace the part for you

Yes in a fashion that's correct. I have enough pass times to fill my time. Learn anything? U have a point its healthy to learn but i have an inbuilt semi educated knowledge anyway. If it came to it like when ive fixed my Raid Zero or my ram or various other tid bits i do it. I just dont want the hassel to be honest if it really goes **** up someone else can deal with it.

They're unnecessary arguments that you feel the need to make so that you can appear better than others.  To be honest it just makes you look petty.  And stop saying it's a debate forum

I fully agree with you. I think promoting people to build there own is healthy and certainly a more intelligent approach. Just giving that side of the coin for the consumer like me who does not want that hassel. Tho shopping around is a good idea generally in life.

No it's not, and especially not when you derail threads over miniscule issues
