I thought Uncharted 2 look ok but nothing great.

It used small rooms and the textures were pretty low res in some areas.

It's looks even worse in multiplayer mod.

Stalker looks awesome and lighting and shadows is one of the most important things in visuals.

Ask any experienced artist and they will tell you this.

Stalker especially looks awesome when you are looking at a lightning storm. When it strike the light must bounce off all objects and create shadows for each one.

Console do not have the power to handle a lot of these features so they opt out with low draw distance, low LOD, low textures, less objects and players on screen etc. etc.

Metro 2033, ARMA2, Mafia 2, Stalker games, ME games on PC etc all look better then U2 and GOW3

You forgot other games like Total War.

There is quite a large list of PC games that look better than anything on consoles.And yes I am arguing technically, otherwise it would be subjective.

I admit Call Of Pripyats enviroments were abit meh, but Shadow Of Chernoybl? No world has come close to that imo.

So let me get this straight, you played the third game in the stalker series without playing the first?

Once you play the first it makes a lot more sense. It takes some time before you find a friendly camp in the 3rd but you are given object in exploring crash sites.

In your opinion. I personally think Stalker has the best artstyle in gaming, but ofcourse that's my opinion.

I agree completly, they do like pc is god and when you point them the bad ports and how console focused the games are they are like "ohh no you are wrong on pc everything is better becauese pc is god and it does not matter you need a super rig" Whateverssss Pc has tons of possible issues in games in regard of optimazation, drivers, hardware and errors. Most people prefer consoles because games just work and they dont have to bother far with all these or drm crap, Thats all there is to it and those people can be called noobs by pc gamers but guess what? Also true, lack of tech skills make the consoles very attractive. People like me (IT field) are where PC gamers mostly live, consoles are so easy that anyone can use them, I don't have trouble with my PC/gaming but I can understand how the less capable tech-wise would.

Lets face it, most people don't care HOW something works, they just want it to work --- hence the consoles.

Some dude who brought his PC into an industrial freezer to keep it from overheating while he takes a screen shots of a game running at 1fps isnt really a fair comparison imo (obviously... im sure nobody goes to these lengths... but it could be done in order to get screen caps far above any possible playable level in a real world scenario).

Well, for the purpose of best graphics comparison you would obviously use the best that the PC can do VS the consoles. Not doing so would be just retarded. I can understand comparing settings in medium to consoles to see how it looks but that won't be considered as the best VS best. And your $5000 dollar is WAY off the mark. The best graphics card in the World is the HD 5970, combine that with other PC parts it would still notbe $1500. Maybe even less.

Uncharted 2 looks horrible in outside environments. The textures and folliage everything looks nothing like Crysis. While in very small environments with narrow corridors can the game can be made to look good but it compares nothing to Cyrsis or other PC games. Just goes to show Crysis engine is light years ahead of Uncharted 2, which is supposed to be one of the best looking games on the consoles. Just goes to show in demanding outdoor environments Uncharted 2 and the PS3 how badly it is behind the PC.

I've never said Stalker had great animations. Infact, I've said several times it has possibly the most laughable animations in a game in recent memory, and laughably bad character models. But where Stalker shines is in it's enviroment. But a game lauded for it's animations, you can clearly see Drake hovering in mid air...

How about this?

I haven't seen clipping that bad since the Nintendo 64 days. Stalker might have it's faults, HELL, you can even call say it was released in alpha state, but it still has possible the best enviroment detail since Crysis and Metro 2033.

i build computers and have a pc gaming rig. I download from steam but the fact that you guys think DD is enough to beat out consoles is laughable. PC gaming is not on the same level, my links are from reputable sources, yours not so much and alot of lack of real numbers also hurt your argument. Keep thinking that PC gaming is doing great, thats fine, but its not doing better than consoles, not by a longshot, and MS which is in both PC gaming and COnsole gaming would completely agree with me, and not you.
