Looks like time for a modest upgrade.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
My 660ti is 1 GB short on GPU memory to meet recommended specs.... Will not upgrade until Titan has a successor though.
Was there any doubt?Looks like I'm good.

I am 1GB short on the GPU RAM side but I have a 670 instead of 660. Also I have win7 instead of Win8 but let's hope it runs well.Â
I will probably play on ultra a few times and then go to low anyway to get as close to 144 fps for my 144Hz monitor anyway
DX10.1 cards still supported? Wow.
faizan_faizan
They should pull a Crytek and just do Dx11 only
Hell this game even supports Dx11.1
Oh oh so no 1080p 60 FPS for most PC owner either...
Â
I know a certain PS4 hater here which will have to upgrade his rig..
Â
Oh those 560 TI...
Â
But but the PS4 is under power..it can't do 1080p 60 FPS.
tormentos
Well for BF4 it can't do 1080p at 60fps
Damn I was expecting a lot more. The GPU for recommended are mid-range lol, and that's for high-max. Consoles are running low-medium yet again. Does this mean consoles are going to be outdated even faster than this gen?tagyhag
Sounds that way. Though you can get quite a bit of performance out of those mid-range cards.Â

That's pretty tame really. Just a 660? Just a $200 GPU. I think I'll still wait until the 20nm GPUs come out though. Or I'll just get a 7970 once the price drops (although it's already pretty damn low!).

You say it's terrible but in reality it shows you how much they can get out of cards people call "weak". That's what DX11 allows. Our existing GPUs are more powerful than people here think. It's just the majority of games are still DX9 which is absolutly pathetic,
Graphics isn't about having the most hardware but rather getting the most out of your hardware.Â

Tame/terrible, whatever.Â
Bascially devs are finally getting around to utilizing the existing hardware better due to new APIs. So yeah, a 660 may be weaker than the beastly 780s, but it's still much more powerful than people think.
When you develop a game you set a point ealier on in develop at how good you want it to look and you work around that. I'll bet they still have an ultra high setting (like they did in BF3) for the super high-end cards and multi-gpu settings.
BF3 showed how much they could do with a 4 year old card at the time. DICE is pretty talented. They don't need a ton of raw power to make fantastic graphics. They are damn good at optimizing.Â

Â
But Wasdie that is a syn, hermit flame the PS4 because it has to give in resolution in order to keep the details and 60 FPS,so how would it be right to give in detail for frames and resolution.:D
Â
This is why i say PC gamers and console gamers are the same but on opposite sides,on consoles frames or resolution are give up for quality on PC quality and resolution are give up for frames.

Why do you keep feeding the obvious troll?
tormentos
Â
I wasn't trolling according to Steam stats most PC gamers on steam doesn't own a PC powerful enough to run BF4 on 1080 60 FPS,most have Intel integrated graphics and 560Ti as well as 550 as well.
Â
People who will be able to play BF4 at 1080p, 60FPS OR BETTER:
Â
PS4: ZERO.
Xbone: ZERO
PC: Some number in the millions. We don't know, but going purely by the recommended specs and Steam stats, we can estimate it's a number above 8 million, probably a lot higher. It took the 360 2.5 years to reach a 8 million (or so) install base.
Â
Tormentos: Â Herp Derp! not ALL hundreds of millions of PC gamers will be playign at 1080p 60 FPS, HERP DERP!Â
Not enough fo these:  in the entire interwebs. The game isn't even goign to sell 8 million on ANY platform, except maybe the last generaiton consoles, where the game will be a totlaly gimped experience.
Â
So guess what Tormentos, MOST console gamers will be playing BF4 at SUB 720p, 25 FPS, with horrible screen tearing, low rez texture,s aliasing, fog worlds (because they can't cope with large view distances) and 1/2 the multi-player player count.
Cry some more.
Well my 7950 clears these requirements...still planning on upgrading to a 7990 since its only 600$ now :)bayboydrayDamn...i wish I could say $600 with "only" preceding it. $600 is a heck of a lot of money for me lol.

Â
I wouldn't get that 7990 yet, Isn't AMD coming out wiht new cards in like a month? Â Wait. Prices will come down, and given the rumors, it's likely that the top end singl eGPU solutions will perform as good as dual GPU solutions fo today on MODERN games. That is, game sfully optimized for DX11/OpenGL 4.4(?? I think) and higher.

Yeah there's no reason to upgrade right now. Hawaii is coming soon. If you buy a card now, it's only going to drop $100-200 in about 3-4 months. Those sound pretty reasonable to me.
But I think people need to be reminded that "recommended" specs do not equal "optimal" specs.
I guess the "optimal" ones are much higher. (Titan level GPUs)

Â
Recommended usually means high settings 30-60 FPS. Not 1440p at those settings or "Ultra" settings at 1080p. Not sure I'd call those "optimal" so much as "Extreme".
Or in other words:
Â
Ultra PC settings >>>High PC settings >>>>Next gen console settings/medium PC settings >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Last gen console settings> low PC settings.

I think the 360/PS3 console settings for BF3 were actually below low PC settings

Yes with that less than 2K users and 100+ ping servers

You must be new to gaming. Pro gamers like (me) care about gameplay. Enjoy your £50 game shitty 4 hour SP and unlockathon MP.
Me? I payed £10 and bought an actual team game, for men.

Well those recommended settings look similar to the supposed specs of a PS4. So they must be something like High-medium, around 30-60fps, 1080p.
Also system requirements are usually far from being the law.

Yeah, you kind of need other players and servers to enjoy the gameplay of a multiplayer game
