Its really not that hard. You either say YES or you say NO. Which is it?
Unconfirmed means we dont know, life isnt all Black and White you know...When they confirmed Halo 3 at 640P did Bungie not come out with a column addressing the issue? Yes or No?
Uh, no, I have a gaming PC and no, I'm not impressed, but the game hasn't been released yet, so I'll wait to make my final decision.

Why the hell would you answer a question with a question? I swear people can't even understand the concept of a Y/N question. Its really not that hard. Its either YES (they have been incorrect) or NO (they haven't been incorrect) seriously.

Yes they did, but Halo 3 was a game they held in their hand and were able to test directly, not from some pre-release shots that are doctored with 20xAA and 4000x3000 res textures:?[QUOTE="Egghead360"][QUOTE="Blackbond"]A lot of them have gone untestested/unconfirmed, and yes theyve come to many conclusions on just screens which is silly[QUOTE="Egghead360"][QUOTE="Blackbond"]Question: Has Beyond3D ever been incorrect in their findings?the1stfandb

i think ign would of noticed if it was lower than 720. 576 is pretty down there. plus they also played the game and these people play games for a living. i'll believe this source before a forum.

I will answer your question but your question cannot be answered with a complete yes or no answer. Yes, Beyond3D was correct about Halo 3 and COD 4 since the devs confirmed it but no other devs have confirmed the native resolutions of the other games they claim.
Now that I answered yours, please answer mine.

How can it not be answered yes or no. Look at their past work. If they were right they were right if they were wrong they were wrong. Look at all their past work and count how many times they were wrong. That is your answer. Bungie didn't confirm 640P until AFTER Beyond3D brought it out public man. It was because of Beyond3D that Bungie decided to explain why H3 was in 640P.
I in no way am gonna make a judgement on what I think the resolution is or will end up being. I also won't try and offer reasoning on how and why this examination is false.
The only thing I want to comment on is that Beyond3D is known for two, yes, two major discoveries in terms of resolution (there are other examinations and such they have done, but none of them were a surprise). Halo 3 and CoD4. Here's the problem, both of those games were already released when they released info that they discovered they were 640p and 600p. There is a huge problem with this argument. The guy that has done so many of these "discoveries" has never played MGS4, even in it's old form (no one here, or on beyond3d has even seen it since Sept of last year). He is speculating based off of a few pictures that it could be 576 based off of those pictures.
Why is that so hard to understand? Yet everyone here is arguing back and forth like this topic in the beyond3d forums is either undoubted fact or complete BS. Without offering reasons why I think it could be wrong, I will just say I'm guessing the picture he used to make the speculation is indeed 576p, which tells me and everyone else absolutely nothing. I can go get a picture of any 720p/1080p game right now on an old TV and "prove" to you that it's only SD quality resolution.
A lot of people here are really playing against the percentages here. These dudes have not been wrong. They would not risk being wrong just to ruin their credibility. So whether they prove out right or wong I'm still getting this game. But these are the guys that have been right before and even forced Bungie to come out and address the 640P thing. Its not like they'd just make crap up. They are currently batting .1000Blackbond
The whole thing about this is that they are basing this on the Metal Gear Online BETA MENU...... A beta, not even a finished or final product.

MGO and MGS4 are pretty much totaly seperate right?
Because I watched the trailer for MGO that comes with the beta DL and the trailer looks like garbage.
I hope it is just a bad trailer, or that MGS4 has little in common with MGO as far as visuals go. Even the game-play for MGO in the trailer looked awful.
But I guess I will get a chance to try it out when the public beta starts on monday.

Uhh.. You mean GTA 4? Everyone will play it.
Since I haven't seen anyone post the quote from the board yet (for some reason), here it is:
for now my hypothesis is that MGO and MGS4 are perhaps in 1024x576, just hypotesis based on some clue and insight , not verified of course (MGS4 isn't available and MGO start only 21 april)
"...based off some clue and insight." Meaning, he's guessing, he didn't even pixel count on this one, for good reason, because there is nothing definitive out to be sure he is counting the right image. Again, instead of making judgements one way or the other, just wait. Either June 12 when the game comes out or sooner when Konami releases a final trailer for the game, at least. Again, as I said in my other post, these people discovered the low resolutions in CoD4 and Halo3 after they were already released, so why not wait to "pwn" all the ps3 fans after MGS4 is released?
edit: btw, if you read later on, it seems like he's more basing this off his thought that the MGS team won't know much about the ps3 because of the limited power of the ps2, than basing it off of what he's studied/seen. Also, fyi, this is one person that said this, and I believe he only said it because someone wanted a quick opinion.

Are you still arguing? Oh well can't wait to play MGO beta this Monday in true 1080p glory. PS_Family
Did you watch the trailer?
I have seen really bad trailers before but this was realy, really bad. I hope the game-play just does not relate well, and the trailer was low res (it had to be). But after watching that I am anxious to find out what the game is actually like, but not anxious to play it.

thats what im saying the MGO beta is in 1080p and i didnt force it so if it was lower then 720p wouldnt they upscale to 720 and not 1080p and if thats the Online im guessing the main game will be true 720p.

If the multiplayer manages to stay at 1080p I don't see any reason why the single player can't.

Good. But MGO can suck no big deal. But MGS4 has been hyped to oblivion. It does not need to be perfect, but it does need to set a standard this gen, or cows are getting set up for a lot of annoying posts for the rest of the damn year.
actually they had a exclusive trailer of the online gameplay and it looked very well put together smooth and the graphics actually passed what i would think they would be for a multiplayer game i got a sony bravia 42inch when the online beta starts i'll take some screen shots for you with my HD camera to show you how well it really looks.Nolan16
Well, I will be playing so dont bother.
The thing that bothers me most is the awful animation.
Screw resolution. High enough progressive scan will be enough for me. If it upscales thats great. But I want AI that is awesome, animation to along with it. Impressive textures and world.... I have lost faith it will have that stuff.
It looks like just another MG to me. Exactly like the man said himself. It is not his fault the game is hyped as the ps3's savior (is it?).
But, so far I have become a doubter. But I will still be there on monday for the start of the public beta, and on day one (regardless of how I feel about the beta) for MGS4. I will decide for myself.

uhh only thing i disagree with you on is the animation Metalgear has always had Stellar Animations in every one of there games this one looks fantastic also. as for the PS3 system savior i can care less reason i bought a PS3 is becuase all of the 360 games go to PC and i have a killer PC.
where did you guys get this info from..?
the game runs at 720p at 60fps..
www.gamecollision.com/news/metal-gear-solid-4-qa-runs-60fps-720p-possible-1080p-more
from IGN:
"Metal Gear Solid 4 has been certified for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, and the game appeared to run at 720p. 7.1 surround sound has not been confirmed yet, and whether the game will run at 1080p or not is still a closely guarded secret."
