i do believe the actual developers said it was at 720. not a forum. i did not care if halo went to 720. only the new 360 can actually go to 1080 right.. i may be wrong but why go to a certain level when not all 360 can reach this,

I also thought of something. Doesn't other factors come into play when determine resolution. Take gears and uncharted for example: Both are uber sexy and have a lot of commotion going on. Yet both are ridiculously linear. Halo 3, well it doesn't look good at all and it clouds its gruesome look with gallons of bloom; On the other hand the action is SO huge. Also the level changes from not linear at times/ or linear

Mgs4 on the other hand has action here and there but mainly being stealth, yet is incredibly huge and not linear. According to previews and such, you can go to your destination by taking a different few routes. Plus all the other things in the game that Im not sure about such as audio and cutscenes....I dont know if that matters in the end but Im sure they had to make some changes to the pixel count and all.

Different art direction, people have different tastes in different visuals and I prefer Uncharteds over GeOW, just slightly.

that is very important to keep in mind. all factors must be considered, and it's wrong to take individual details out of context. besides, both Halo 3 and COD4 are still visually beautiful games, despite the less than official HD resolutions. (OMG, distant objects have blocky outlines! madness!)

While this would be hilarious, its just speculation so far on a few screenshots. How about we wait till it releases?

And heck, theres other great looking PS3 titles such as Heavenly Sword which while as short and crappy as it is, still happens to fill the screen with TONNES of enemies with large environments (at times at least:P)
