[QUOTE="Rosencrantz"] [QUOTE="Setsa"]The Wii is going to die out buddy, it s jsut a matter of time now. Sure it seems fun to play at first, but it is crap for hardcore gamers. Only three types of people buy the Wii in my perspective: people who are just breaking into the gaming society, people whoa re rich enough to afford multiple systems (Wii + 360/PS3), or little kids with ADD/ ADHD.VERTIGO47
Yeah, because little kids with ADD hate playing twitch games like FPSers and arcade racers. And the Wii has a ton of those compared to say, the 360.
I am sick of this rampant ignorance that hardcore gamers are people who only play M games and FPSers. It pisses me off. I've been gaming since consoles first appeared in homes. I've owned numerous consoles and handhelds and I follow the industry religiously. ANd you know what? I bought a Wii. Why? Because as a "hardcore gamer" I care about all games as long as they are fun and entertaining to play. And as a hardcore gamer I am sick of the militantly vocal minority thinking they know what they are talking about yet look like fools everytime they open their biased fanboy mouths.
If you judge consoles by their ratings and not by great games...then you, sir, are not hardcore. You are a poser. You are a fraud. Stop making those of us who are REAL gamers look bad by making such ignorant and insulting posts.
You're as much of a tool for speaking out and rambling quick biased judgement about hardcore gamers. In case you didn't know, which is quite obvious, there are Core Gamers out there who have different taste than YOU do. It really depends on what the Core gamers are into these days.
I'm 29, and been gaming since 1982, with the Atari 400 as my 1st ever console. Since then and for the past 22 years after the NES release, my taste in games have "evolved". Occasionally, I love the pick and play games like Tetris on my old GB. To this day, I'm still addicted to Tetris. But I also love the mature, complex games that we have today, with some minor exceptions (I despise RPGs). I'm mostly into FPS, RTS, Sim Racers, Action-adventure.Â
The point of all this is just because YOU'RE a hardcore gamer, doesn't necessarilly mean all OTHER hardcore gamers have to like what the Wii has to offer. Honestly, the Wii, IMO, just doesn't cut it. As for Nintendo, their 1st party titles have been pretty mediocre at best, in the past few years. The last Nintendo game I played was LoZTP on GC and it was a great game, but not better than OoT.Â
From my PoV and as a Core Gamer, Nintendo can reap all the benefits as a successful gaming company. Good for them for redeeming themselves, Good for them for expanding the market. That's the way big businesses survive in this type of industry. But as far as the games are concerned, I'd rather look to other platforms and enjoy the games that serve my interests and taste. Â
Same here, although I have been gaming since 1989, by 1991 I already had 5 consoles in my house, Atari 5200, Colecovision, NES and then the Gensis which followed, kinda missed the SNES (although one of my friends had one) days till the N64 came out at which point I got a SNES cause they were dirt cheap and some fantastic games as well for it, same goes for a N64. I missed out on the PS1 because it was so expensive and my parents wouldnt get it for me and I had to buy my own PS2, however the only consoles I have never actually owned at one point were Xbox consoles and I never will, or some of the crap old systems like Turbo Graphix 16 and the previous Atari systems. I grew up playing some of the best games ever made for both consoles, Primal Rage, Super Mario RPG, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear etc and my tastes have certainly change, however I still love old games as much as the new ones and I have pretty much followed Nintendo the most since I started gaming. I might not be a true hardcore gamer but I pretty much love all genres to some extent and will play most games even if they get not so great reviews.
I too have noticed in recent years that the market is indeed getting stale. The Wii is fantastic in this aspect since it has brought something new to the table, like everything else its a learning curve for developers much like Cell is for the PS3 games, and games may not be phenominal at using the controller yet but there is so much potential for it to be great, it just has to be used and developed properly and not in a gimmicky fashion that we have seen with some games thus far.
