I'm not. I expect Wii to get a lot of 3rd party support, and most of the games will be non gamer titles. Why? Because Wiisports is the best selling Wii game.
Wii having the non gamer market under control is the reason it will be more successful than the GC.Â
Eh, GTA: SA was PS2's highest selling game (I think?) and that didn't make most of the rest of the games coming out for the system turn into sandbox games.[QUOTE="the-very-best"]That's certainly what made the PS2 win.

The PS2 won by having a massive variety of games available on the system. The PS3 has lost this variety. The 360 never had it. The Wii now does. I think the PS3 is a fantastic system for the hardcore market. I honestly like the system. I have a PS2. But the Wii is still going to dominate for the next few years at the very least.
PS3 hasn't lost its variety. I don't know why you would even say that. Well, I do but...
Anyway, Wii has no major variety. It doesn't have GTAIV, Burnout 5, AC, VF5, Bioshock, SSX4, SC3, DMCIV, NG, RE5 etc. My point is that it's missing every major 3rd party game.
Every single one.
That's the reason the GC lost. It's the reason I see Wii coming 3rd.Â

I think you put too much emphasis on the power of franchises, especially when including in that list some series that aren't particularly high sellers. If the Wii has no notable third-party support by late next year or sometime in the year after that then yes it could slip, but in the meantime its sales are likely going to be fairly compelling for developers.[QUOTE="the-very-best"][QUOTE="OceanLeet"][QUOTE="the-very-best"]That's certainly what made the PS2 win.

One of the reasons the GC lost was because it was cheaper to develop for on the PS2. Kinda like the Wii is now. And you're still placing far too much faith in game titles. And yes, the PS3 has lost it's variety. Notice that almost all of the good games coming for the PS3 are sequels of older games. Where is the variety? Where is the freshness? ...on the Wii :)

Take-Two announced three undisclosed games for Wii this year (as seen on page 1), and I'd imagine one of those is a GTA spin-off. NG was announced on the DS, and I'd imagine an iteration of that is coming to the Wii somewhere down the line as well. What part of this do u guys not understand, The Wii makes 3rd parties serious $... so despite your fanboy delusions of loyalty, they'll go where the money is.

What varitey has the Wii got over the Ps3, It has Wario Ware which is the same as any other WW, Zelda which is just another Zelda and then you got Spm which is Spm other than that the Wii is getting the same games as the Ps3/360 just with the controls and dated graphics and the ps2 or psp ports, The Ps3 will have great varitey in the future as i assume that the Wii will has it to.

Right now it is. But those games all take years to make, and the Wii has only been out for about five months now. If it continues selling as it does, despite the lack of good games built for the system at the moment, then third parties will flock to it. It holds more promise of money in many ways, given the low devevlopment cost and possibly enourmous fanbase. If they were to put new franchises and new main additions of existing ones to the Wii, and they're a big success, then they well probably foucus mainly on the Wii for devevloping both non-gamer titles and hardcore-aimed titles.Wow you people love jumping the gun!!!!Ericvon71So do major third party developers like Ubi, EA, and Take-two... apparantly ;)
Breaking news:
Gamefront and Go Nintendo.
- Nintendo is going to hold a retailer meeting in Japan on Wednesday 11th (tomorrow) to show off upcoming games.
- Nintendo is increasing the shipments of Wii in Japan beginning this week. I'm presuming this is a result of the increased manufacture about to hit retail.
- Dragon Quest Swords has been dated for July 12th in Japan (creamsugar says this is from a reliable source and the info has also been posted by Gamefront).
EDIT:
- Also, as an update to the Wii situation, in addition to increasing output from their current partner, FPC, Nintendo is looking for an additional company to manufacture the hardware:

better yet, put out 6 games for the cost of 1 on the ps3 or 360. that way you spread out the chance of loss. also you would probably reach a bigger market the way the wii is selling.lets see spend 5 million on a Wii game or 30 million on a PS3 or 360 game.....I think in the end we all know who going to get the most 3rd party games the question is will they be good

The Wii is going to die out buddy, it s jsut a matter of time now. Sure it seems fun to play at first, but it is crap for hardcore gamers. the wii is a success. ive been gaming since i was 5. started on the NES. i would call myself a hardcore gamer. i like the complex games like zelda, metriod, halo, god of war, FPS and what not. but ive got to say there is a lot of 3rd party help coming to the wii. u cant deny its success. and as long as the wii keeps getting developers that means only one thing. new games. not only those companies established franchises but totally new ips. the wii is already getting acclaimed franchises such as Guitar Hero, Man Hunt, Raw Vs Smackdown, RE, MK, the list goes on and the list will conitinue to go on. i own a wii and its awesome. i love the games for wii. red steel is fun, sure its got issues but what game doesnt. show me a perfect game. i guarntee u cant find one. not on the wii, ps2, ps3, xbox or 360. every game has its flaws. big whoop. the fact of the matter is the wii is getting support. its already got more 3rd party support than the gamecube had. its not a novelty item. its a gaming system.
Â
i also hate how there are people here trying to explain the direction of nintendo. nintendo is going after casual gamer and bringing in new crowds to gaming. well no crap. if u would have paid attention for the past year and half, thats what nintendo SAID all along. they said they werent gonna be in the same market as Microsoft and Sony. as those companies are graphical companies. their systems are just hypercharged versions of their old ones. at least nintendo took a chance to do something different and breathe new life into the video game industry. which is pretty obvious they did. and i dont think its going anywhere. anytime soon.Â
THE KING OF THE GAMING INDUSTRY IS BACK!!! LONG LIVE NINTENDO!!!KILLERJAK702KAquoted for the truth. Lets hope they can break the 3 console curse this time.
There's no way I'm reading 7 pages of nonsense so I'll just comment on the report.
Â
Congratulations Nintendo! Wii knew you could do it!
Change can be a good thing and the gaming industry was getting stale. This could be a great revolution in gaming or real gaming could revert to it's nerdy stereotype because the market leader turned our hobby into a kiddy/toy/gimmick/fad. We'll see.Â
And yet, the games still suck. I'd rather have the less sold xbox 360 with good games than the new fad wii with crappy games. Golden_surferdid u not read why the games 'suck'?
because they were rushed to development... give it time and the Wii will have a better library than 360 or PS3.

You're as much of a tool for speaking out and rambling quick biased judgement about hardcore gamers. In case you didn't know, which is quite obvious, there are Core Gamers out there who have different taste than YOU do. It really depends on what the Core gamers are into these days.
I'm 29, and been gaming since 1982, with the Atari 400 as my 1st ever console. Since then and for the past 22 years after the NES release, my taste in games have "evolved". Occasionally, I love the pick and play games like Tetris on my old GB. To this day, I'm still addicted to Tetris. But I also love the mature, complex games that we have today, with some minor exceptions (I despise RPGs). I'm mostly into FPS, RTS, Sim Racers, Action-adventure.Â
The point of all this is just because YOU'RE a hardcore gamer, doesn't necessarilly mean all OTHER hardcore gamers have to like what the Wii has to offer. Honestly, the Wii, IMO, just doesn't cut it. As for Nintendo, their 1st party titles have been pretty mediocre at best, in the past few years. The last Nintendo game I played was LoZTP on GC and it was a great game, but not better than OoT.Â
From my PoV and as a Core Gamer, Nintendo can reap all the benefits as a successful gaming company. Good for them for redeeming themselves, Good for them for expanding the market. That's the way big businesses survive in this type of industry. But as far as the games are concerned, I'd rather look to other platforms and enjoy the games that serve my interests and taste. Â
Third party devs rushing to Nintendo? Nintendo outselling Sony?
Me, Doc, and Marty are going to go back to last year to post this thread in SW, I'll let you know how it fares.
did u not read why the games 'suck'?[QUOTE="Golden_surfer"]And yet, the games still suck. I'd rather have the less sold xbox 360 with good games than the new fad wii with crappy games. jedigemini
because they were rushed to development... give it time and the Wii will have a better library than 360 or PS3.
Yes, they were rushed or ports. And that's all we've been seeing for the past 5 to six months of launch and what will be seeing more. Look at capcom, they're almost kind of laughing at us by releasing a rehash and rails shooter RE.Please Log In to post.
