@scatteh316: Are you talking about the Switch or WiiU version of the game?
The WiiU version obviously struggles, but the Switch version is pretty solid throughout (with only the occasional dip every few hours).
I haven't played the game nor will I for a long time, but for the most part it seems the biggest issue is the frame rates dropping a bit. Still seems the game deserved that 10. My gripe with reviews is certain games get knocked down points and get a negative for not having certain features or technical issues while other games with same issues get overlooked...lol
I think this is a really excellent game. I wish I could be in agreement @jcrame10 but I disagree with all of your points. :/
-Frame Rate: I am playing it on Nintendo Switch. There are hiccups when playing the game docked but I have experienced much worse performance in open world games. It's ugly when it happens, but fortunately I have only experienced this in dense areas, and not in combat. I see you own the Wii U version which I heard performs worse.
-I don't find the menus that cumbersome. I primarily use the menus for cooking so I only ever really use the resource and food tabs. I can get lost a little when looking for a particular ingredient but keeping the items alphabetically sorted works well. The map menus work fine. The game is somewhat less elegant than other Zelda games but that is inherited by being a game now more comparable with contemporary open world games. Regarding this, I find the menu far more elegant than say The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4.
-I don't think resource collecting is tedious. You just walk over to the thing and tap 'A'. It's pretty quick. There's not even an animation. It's simple and quick and a very fractional part of the game loop time-wise. Feels like a natural action after a combat scenario.
-I LOVE this about the game. I don't like open world games with passive environments that you can plow through anymore. Getting from point A to B in other open world games feels like it's just padding out the important parts in comparison. I like that Breath of the Wild has put purpose back into its level design and treats the environment as an element of the gameplay (rather than just a static, passive space to separate the meaningful content).
-I don't find I accidentally run into any enemies. There is so much vertical space and opportunity to foresee a battle that I can determine whether or not I am prepared for a challenge before it happens. I might die by biting off more than I can chew but that's my fault for picking fights above my belt. I don't feel the game throws encounters at you unfairly though. You can see enemies a mile off.
Exception being Ganon's clan but these are typically one on one fights.
- All the puzzle solving surrounds the persistent Shiek Slate items so I'm fine with the durable weapons in the game. It's just different and I feel people haven't adjusted yet. I'd make a case for it that it puts purpose into your inventory. Compared to other RPGs where only 1 in several of the weapons you come across aren't redundant, Breath of the Wild is less about having one powerful weapon and more about managing your inventory against the challenge. Weaker, less durable weapons are in a greater abundance and can typically be replaced after any fight. The breaking during fights, for me, puts an electricity back into the fight. I understand why you find it irritating though, but for me it throws another layer on top of the combat loop. It creates a really satisfying energy. Knocking an enemy down, throwing your weapon and picking up his to leave him unarmed. It creates for so many potential scenarios. I think it would be better embraced if people would leave behind their notion of how a game should be designed vs. the potential that BOTW combat offers.
It's by hands down the best open world game i ever played. And i played them all pretty much.
It deserves the score it gets.
It gave me the feeling back of, vanilla wow, zelda ocarina of time, grand theft auto 3, lego city ( forgot it's name that 90's open world game ) morrow wind, lineage 2, myst, early tomp raider, half life 2, shadow of the collosus.
The movement in the game is excellent ( flying / riding shield / climbing ), the physics really make the game shine ( half life 2 ). Loads of content and not deserted as OOT or most of the games once where. It keeps things interesting. The puzzles ( love puzzles "high lara croft")
It's basically exactly what kingdom hearts did towards disney games. All those tacky repetitve disney games that gets boring after the first or second level because you have seen it, get mixed into a kingdom hearts wold where you only stay a little bit and move on to the next disney game.
It removes all the boring filler stuff, and implants the good parts to enhance there game in a excellent way.
The game keeps refreshing itself, the boss battles can be hard as hell, so it's not a walk in the park. like most games are these days.
The total freedom, and not the focus on the "end boss" but just being there as do whenever you want it to do. You can do whatever you want right now ( skyrim ) what i really like about this game.
It feels like what wow did towards the mmo section. It takes all the good stuff implants it in there mmo and filters out all the nonsense.
I love that it doesn't have a level system, that the items get broken so you actually not use 1 weapon the entire run because "its so overpowered" but keep on using different ones. Without the requirement of leveling systems.
Your starting zelda is already in such state that you can beat the game with it, it's all about your own way of doing things.
It deserves the score it gets. It's by far after OOT ( which was just something mindblowing entirely at the time ) the best game i played in a long long time.
It's a ode to older gamers such as me that grew up with n64 quality games, wow vanilla, lineage 2, older tomb raiders.
I hope they will reboot mario and pokemon on the same note. ( mario it already seems like being the case ).
We need in game screenshots. That looks like a printed cover from a Canon printer you slid in your Mario Kart 8 case.

Digital Foundry video shows the Switch version to be no better then the Wii U version.
@scatteh316: The switch version is in fact noticeably better than Wii U version, especially in portable mode.
The only real criticisms that isn't really subjective would be about the frame rate (well I suppose some people don't mind frame rate dips) and maybe some of the side quests (which are largely excellent). I hope it gets better for players on the Wii U or the docked Switch version, but you may be stuck with what you get (at least on the Wii U). There are some dips I believe on the portable version at times, but they're barely noticeable.
Just because you don't like the other reviews, doesn't make them "biased". Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're not the overseer of evaluation or opinion standards.

There's been some changes to how System Wars administrates review debate, so your services will no longer be required. It's all very complicated but you can be assured the future of the forum is very secure.
Didn't you get the memo? ??

Ahh, that explains why the GS paychecks stopped coming.
The Bob's must have been behind the whole thing..... lol :P
****** finally got the game, downloading an update for it, we'll see if it's as good as The Witcher 3!
baaaahhhhhh-hahahahahahahaha...
wait.... you were serious?? ??

Don't forget, if you ask people for proof, it applies to you too. ;)
@jun_aka_pekto: I'm at work now but I already posted my collection and a few screenshots.
You did? My bad. It must be in a different thread then.
@jcrame10: can you please upload a video of youself playing the game where you are fast traveling between all five dungeons with the master sword and wearing the classic link outfit so we can verify if you have it or not. A few hours will be long enough
@aigis: would you prefer I do it in a speedo or just straight full frontal?
No, he very specifically said you need to be wearing the classic Link outfit. You need to pay attention.
@charizard1605: my apologies, I thought he meant link needed to be wearing the classic outfit
No, Link just needs to have the Master Sword
Inflated, biased reviews will tell you otherwise, but Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is NOT a perfect game.
-consistent frame rate dips, especially with multiple enemies on screen
-clumsy, cumbersome menus compared to older games
-tedious resource gathering and collectibles that clutter up your menu
-areas that are detrimental to your health because of weather conditions (resolved by a torch or cooking peppers, still an annoyance rather than a unique feature)
-the open world design is really cool but accidentally running into random enemies that can kill you instantly in one hit gets old. fast. a lot of the times theres no warning until its too late. also whats up with no roll ability? thats a Zelda staple. They put in a jump after 30 years but take out the roll? What?
-weapons with no durability. biggest offender. one of the most satisfying elements of Zelda, for me at least, has always been finding and collecting the unique items and weapons. Solving a puzzle, dungeon or task and being rewarded with an item. The Biggorns sword quest, the Skulltula quest, the Lens of Truth in the well, the Megaton Hammer in the Fire Temple or the Bow in the Forest Temple (yes most of my examples come from OoT, but thats where it all started with the 3D mechanics and is my favorite of the 3D Zeldas)...just picking up random items gives no sense of accomplishment, it makes the game feel like a cheap RPG Fable type knock off.
We all want change in series but I strongly feel removing these elements was a horrible decision. Now Zelda feels like every other crafting or resource game versus what it was before. The fact that you have to switch between multiple weapons in a fight more than half of the time because of durability is an annoyance too. Gameplay is not smooth or engaging when youre constantly having to pause to swap weapons and items.
I am not that far into the game, just a couple of hours (maybe 4 or 5). But still if this is the repetition, the rinse and repeat cycle, I dont see how its gonna get much better....or certainly deserving of unanimous 10/10 praises across the board.
will be better in 4k 60fps on CEMU
