Crysis 2 on consoles will not looks as good as it's PC counterpart but that's not the goal of Crytek. Crytek is not only looking to cash in on the Crysis name but to surpass any console only game. Anyone who thinks Crysis 2 will be anything short of amazing looking on consoles is delusional. This is Crytek's chance to show what the new engine can do so they can lease it to other developers. Sort of what Epic did with Gears of War and the Unreal Engine 3. After the developers picked their jaws up off the ground looking at Gears of War they went and leased the engine based on its potential.
[QUOTE="Gamersince81"]Just what Crytek wants you to do, blaim the pirates; ignore the obvious business move.I bought every pc game legally with the f'n box. I just built my pc to run Crysis recently. I feel like shooting every hermit that stole or pirated in the head 1,000,000,000 times. Perfect f'n timing. Thanks pirates i spent opver 1000.00 for nothing (since my rig was designed for Crysis series). Meh, at least i can still play Crysis and Warhead i guess. But if your a pirate AVOID ME seriously... this is all your fault..
Vandalvideo
Your right, i am going to ignore the business move why? It is the pirates fault. Epic was smart enough to move faster than Crytek. I been a console gamer for overtwenty years, you would think i would be happy but im pissed. I JUST got into PC gaming. Hell, its like this.. Why would someone wanna steal a damn videogame that sombody worked their ass off to make? I don't blame Crytek, at least the PS3 version wont get pirated like the PC and 360. Bottom line, i spent over a 1000.00 to get into PC gaming to play games like Crysis and Stalker.. Hell i bet stalker will go to consoles as well.. ME EQUAL OWNED. ME EQUALS PISSED NOW!!
- EA buys Crytek
- EA tells Crytek to put their engine on consoles for them to make more money
- EA demands Crytek put their very successful franchise on consoles to make more money
Hopefully Cevat Yerli's assessment that "Crysis in its current form is impossible on consoles" was wrong. Because if not, either the console versions of Crysis 2 are going to suck or they have dumbed down the first game in order to make it work on consoles.

In PC terms, that is quite a significant acheivement. Game development costs are rising on every platform because of increased complexity. To make up for development costs, developers have to shore out more money. It has nothing to do with the PC being a particularly pirate prone platform. Every single platform is losing out on third party exclusives. It is the nature of the business. This is a calculated business venture on Crytek's part to make more money. This is not the pirates' problem. You can't use them as a scape goat for Crytek making a blatantly obvious power grab.
Just because Crysis 2 is annoucned for consoles doesn't mean it will be remotely similar to the PC version.pshh...so much about how the game cant be done on consoles......another win for consoles yaay :D

as long as the pc version isn't gimped ill be fine.shadow_hosi
It's going to get gimped, that isn't even in question here.
CryEngine 3 is designed to use PC as the lead platform and pump out console assets/code as it goes along. While this means the PC version gets the highest quality art assets, it's essentially the same source code but adapted to each platform.
If they do scale it up it will be with effects, the game design itself will be console limited to make sure it will run on those platforms.
Any additional effort to change the PC versions experience from the console versions would be counter productive, as it would go against what the engine was designed to do to cut development time and costs.

I loved how PC gamers said Crysis couldn't be done on consoles and now Crysis 2 is coming to the 360/PS3 and it will be one of the best looking games.
Again, the original isn't coming to consoles. Crysis 2 will most likely be severely gimped.pshh...so much about how the game cant be done on consoles......another win for consoles yaay :D

[QUOTE="Baranga"][QUOTE="Kicker_of_Cans"] The original sold more than $2 Million, and broke even in early 2008. Do some research next time.Cyberfairy
It's over 3 millions now, and Warhead was also a major success. They spent 15 million Euro making it, part of which was from Nvidia and Intel, and it turned out a good profit.
Crysis didn't sell 3 million and you wouldn't find a single announcement from EA or Crytek that it even sold 2 million. No one has a clue how many people actually bought Crysis but I doubt it was a huge success.Use common sense. It sold 1 million in two months. In September it was in the US PC top 10. It was re-released a few weeks ago. It's cheap now. It's still used as a benchmark, and PCs are cheaper every day. Of course it sold that good.

Oh it will be the same game the original XBOX had 64mb of RAM and a 32MB videocard and a lowly Pentium III at 733MHz and it had Half Life 2, Far Cry, and Doom III which all had higher requirements for the PC versions. The PS3/XBOX 360 all exceed the minium requirements for Crysis by a long shot.

Ignoring background processes, consoles DO NOT have enough ram to run the title. Fact.
Half LIfe 2 required 256MB of RAM minimum and it went to the XBOX with only 64MB of RAM. Anything is possible RAM isn't the most important thing.nVidiaGaMerIncluding background processes. Again, tests have been done which conclusively show, ignoring background proceses, you need ATLEAST 1 gig of ram to run the game.

Different doesnt equal magic ability to fit 1GB+ into 256mb.
Consoles deal with less memory by having much faster ram so they can stream it in chunks, you can get a 1GB level into consoles by dividing it up and loading it piece by piece depending on the players location.
The problem with this, which has been explained over and over again, is Crysis needs 1GB+ of memory 'at any one time'. The only way to get it working on consoles is to divided it up, which alters the game play because you can only interact with whatever 'bubble' you happen to be in at that time.

Excalty you cant fit 1gb of info into a thing thats can only hold 256mb.Very accurate. The PC version does not require a 6K PC rig.Least the PC version is not going to require a $6000 PC to play it and not max it out for almost two years.

Whats so funny? it did. Thanks to higher res textures, 4xAA, 60fps and 1080p, it did.I am not worried. Crytek will continue to be PC Lead. Germans are PC gamers. They may make the game on console as well, but the game will be a game for their PC gaming fanbase. Specifically the German PC gaming fanbase who has so vigorously supported Crytek with all its releases... Also, anyone who has followed Crytek knows that Crytek has stated that they will design multiple versions of a game if necessary. One on the PC, and then another different version on the consoles. If that is what it takes, that is what they will do.
Also, given the timing of this announcement, they may be showing something today at the press conference.

Yes, and in a GDC interview, which I'm getting a bit tired of linking, he explained how they made it work because CE3 is another CryTek miracle. Don't be paranoid.
And it was said before, they're Germans. They don't sacrifice their vision for console's sake, and they sometimes make the impossible to achieve this goal (Sacred 2 anyone?).

The first time Crysis came out you couldn't max it out no matter how powerful a PC you had at the time.
