[QUOTE="Slimmin360"][QUOTE="gamebreakerz__"] Jeez you're an idiot. Firstly, let's change that $399 for PS4 to $900 over 10 years since you have to pay for online which you don't on PC. Secondly, you only need to upgrade once every few years to max out everything, not every month lol, you clearly know absolutely nothing about hardware. Thirdly, PC gamers actually have jobs and can afford to spend lots of money on a gaming PC. I personally don't care that I spend more than the average console gamer (debatable due to Steam sales) because I get a better gaming experience and I'm willing to pay more. In '7-10' years the PS4's hardware will be prehistoric. It already has about 1/3 the power of the top of the line PC GPU's.adamosmaki
First of all not everyone plays online or has Playstation plus, secondly the cost of disc based games and Steam games on PC combined easily works out to be as much has a 5 year stretch of Playstation plus at $50 a year if not more. PSN also offers a set amount of free full PS3 and PSN games every month, does Steam do that? Maybe it was exaggerated about the PC monthly upgrade but PS4 and all other consoles have a 5 to 10 year life cycle while PC's must be upgraded at least once a year. Therefore the $399 PS4 is still the better buy.1. Every year? Try every 2-3 years that the average pc gamer does. I still have a 2010 phenom II and a 6870 and i play at high or mostly high settings most games out there
2. When you can find me GTA4 or Bioshock 1+2 for or Batman games for $5  then tell me buying games on consoles its cheaper and then tell me it works out as much as a 5year stretch on playstation  plus the $50 ( let alone 95% of pc games launch at $10-20 less )
3. I dont have to pay to play online unlike youÂ
4. There are quite a few free games on steam one of which is Dota 2 you know that just got reviewed and got a 9 and others include the likes of Team fortress 2
5.Steam is not the only DD service. Far from it in fact gamersgate/greenmangaming and Gog often have even better sales than steam ( let alone the psn, xbox "sales" if you call a 20-30% sale )
6.Good luck with backward compatibilityÂ
Launching price is a strong point for the console, when the consoles release they have pretty good hardware. The thing is mostly a console dies in it's lifecycle and you need to buy an new one (lately anyway, this isn't a snes or something), combine that with the higher price on the games and the fee for online multiplayer and the consoles aren't much cheaper in the end.
The strong points of a console isn't in is price/performance but in it's exclusives, plug & play, a unified platform, the community and special services (like party chat on xboxlive). The launching price can be important for a lot of people too (but in the end you're not really making any profits)
When it comes to performance the pc will always win, the pc needs a bigger investment, but the games look better (sometimes the difference is so big , it's a crime to play the console version) and games are cheaper to buy.
When it comes to how user friendly the system is for gaming, the consoles will always win. Consoles are plug & play.
Both systems have certain exclusives, the pc is better at mouse & keyboard support and the consoles are better at controller support. However, the controller support on the pc is so good now that there's no reason to chose a console over a pc just because of the controller. It's not the same the other way around though, if you prefer mouse & keyboard the pc is still (by far) the best option.
On the other hand a mouse & keyboard can give you the edge on the consoles (if the game supports it).
And last but not least, the pc can do a lot more than just gaming, and you probably need a pc anyway. I like both systems so I have them both.
Don't ask me to choose, but if steam actually would get's it's voice chat right and implement party chat then the only reason for me to buy a console is to lose weight (with the kinect :) )
