It's like the MW2 boycott, they complain but then they get it anyway. You can't group PC gamers together like that. If anything, the consensus was that Bad Company is a downgraded version of the BF series. Bad Company 2 is too - but it's a great multiplayer game regardless.
Really, console gamers have NO IDEA what they are talking about when they say matchmaking is okay, and they have NO IDEA what they are talking about when they say that mods are not a good thing, and I mean that in the most disparaging way allowed on these forums.

Well you aren't paying much attention thar buddy. DICE can't stop pirates from playing Single Player, they can only stop them from playing online which requires them to keep the server code private because pirates need the server code to crack it aswell as host it themselves to play online. This is a double-edged sword in itself because it kills off any chance of modding which many PC gamers don't take kindly to. In this case though, as said a couple days ago by a DICE dev, the game just wasn't ready for PC modding so there was no use in pretending it was. Why not require an internet connection and login to play single player? That's pretty lame and limiting but might be an option instead of all the DRM/limited instalss silliness...

Yours is not the only valid opinion. Dedicated servers are the lifeblood of PC communities which hold much tighter and larger than console gaming communities do. This is another huge disadvantage of P2P only for us. P2P is great if you have only a couple people or no one to play with and prefer simplicity. But believe me when I say dedicated servers are a step up though.

That's what Ubisoft is going to do with Assassin's Creed II. The feedback isn't going over well. That type of DRM is able to be bypassed because you can modify files to require the connection in the first place. In the end it only hurts the person who buys the game. I find myself pitted against it aswell because I typically play singleplayer games on my PC when my cable connection goes out for whatever reason.
I guess this shows that PC gaming is not dead (nor probably will ever be) People are also happy with DICE for implementing the dedicated servers. Modern Warfare 2's failure to do so was a huge boost for Bad Company 2.
I was thinking of getting this on 360 because of its large userbase, but after seeing this I bought the Steam version without hesitation. DX11 and 32 player battles are nice bonuses.
I suppose that's supposed to be a good excuse for DICE not to give consoles the extra bonuses like 32 player cap instead of 24? Once again, multiplayer console shooters get shot in the knees because of devolopers who don't seem to notice their fanbase on the consoles would appreciate the extra effort too.

yea there fan base has been here wondering why Bad company skipped us, it's ok it wasn't to BF standards for PC as shiped to the little kid toys(consoles). even now fanboys defending MW2, comparing MW2 and BFBC2 really is appls and oranges, MW2 is so much more arcady, were you can prob teach and learn alot with BF is you were in entry military position. in BC your not gonna go on huge killing sprees, unless you got some hardware. not like MW2 were you sorta like Superman, even envirment effects and sound are so much more epic than MW2, some of the GFX in BC2 actually will cause you to miss a sniper, in White Pass. it's alot more real, almost scary real. if you wanna play a quick fun FPS with kids play MW2, PC gamers def will be playing BFBC2 for years, were i already think people stops playing MW2 and that hasn't even been a year..........

To add-on to this post, pirates cannot play online because cracked games require cracked servers. DICE only release the server code privately to 'game server providers' so not even the mightiest of pirates can play online. To sum this up, the statement is still very surprising, but truly shows what Infinity Ward did to their fanbase aswell as how many PC gamers prefer a BF game.

yea you must not know about Piracy, it's super hard to play games online illegally thru piracy specially on private servers as Dice only supports(in sense all BFBC2 PC servers are privatly own and being rented out to guild masters, and others who wanan run there own server setups.

We never said it sucked, its just not BF3. BC2 is the best multiplayer game this gen imo so far. Basically this, BC2 is not a bad game its just not what a battlefield game could be. BF2 left us with some pretty high standards. I would rather have BF3 come out already but it looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer. Though I'm still planning on supporting DICE and purchasing this game for PC.

If they take the best parts of this and all the previous BF games, Battlefield 3 could be the best game ever.
Glad that everyone is enjoying this superb game... But i would never switch my couch for the chair... Plus i sit all day at work and there is always prostate to think about.

EA did maintenance to the servers today, works fine now.
Most multiplats I get on my 360 for the friends list and surround sound.
Kinda expected, altho still quite a pleasant surprise. I've ALOT of friends that would happily proclaim they pirate games all day and think I'm stupid for actually buying games... and guess what? They are buying BC2. One actually said "Of course I'm buying BC2, thats a given!". The Battlefield series has a very solid reputation amongst PC gamers and it also shows that if you make a game good enough, the game will SELL.

You can't log on to EA servers with a pirated copy as your key is linked to your EA account. I stand corrected. I guess the game was a massive sales failure on consoles then.
