Do you consider the Wii U a next gen console?

Just curious, do you consider the Wii U a next generation console?

The question isn't whether it is or isn't, but what you think.

For me, from what I've seen and heard, it seems weak and not something that I'd consider next gen. For me next gen is more than what's out there.

Needing a stand alone harddrive because the system only has up to 32gb and having a controller that can't last more than 4 hours with a charge seems ridiculous to me.

you know what im sick of this debate how about i spell it out in black and white

lets compare xbox 360 shall we ,,

ram -512 mb -wiiu 2 gigs of ram

ed ram-8 mb xbox 360 wiiu 30 mb ed ram

then wii u has what 360 lacks ---a ggpu - general proceessing unit that -takes the load off the cpu and the gpu

lets see what else shall we

included with the purchase of a wii u is -hdmi cords- whats with 360---oh gee the same cords since snes ---the composite yellow red and white , ---- you judge on that one shall we

thats already looking next gen to me better thne 360 hardware sure the processers a little slower but it like i said has something that 360 dont have,

its tri core like 360 ,

can actually do 1080p without breaking a sweat im sure of it ,

and lets see what else i can find ,, the tablet controller that streams to the machine and you can play the game on the controller without the need for a tv , say your at a hotel , bored as heck ,, ----and we all know how inconvinent those tvs are no problem whip out your wii u and have fun ,

in my book a next gen console is defined by its age , and time of release not feature set , --see ps1 ps2 dc these were all part of 6 th and 5th gen respectively but ---they were not the strongest in terms of visuals ,

and since wii u can handle what a ps3 360 can , once devs know it better im pretty sure they can put more effort into the wii u version it does have more ram then an xbox360 or ps3 , thus allowing more stuff on screen sharper visuals and what ever else without breaking a sweat and the disc type , ,

wii u -high compacity 25 gig disc much like a ps3 bluray disc ,

so when taking all of this into consideration it is infact a next gen platform , its on newer hardware , as c onfirmed , its not using an xbox360 chip or any thing taking streight from an xbox360 , its got 3 cores similar to the 360 thats about as similar as it is ,

Like I said, anyone can edit wikipedia, and given to how overzealous Nintendo fanboy are, and in how much denial they're in, it stands to reason that they editited that article. And wikipedia is not proof of anything, it's not very reliable.

You have to look at the meat and potatotes. Show me a Wii U game with better graphics than Uncharted or Halo 4? Exactly, Wii U is not next gen and it's not more poweful than the other current gen systems.

So you do admit that WiiU is nextgen? As far as I know there isn't a consumer device on the market that runs HQ video over a 5ghz wireless band with latency less than 1/60 of a seond other than the WiiU. Sounds like new tech to me :?

In terms dates.. It is Next Gen.

The fact that is being compared to PS3 and 360 makes it sound like Last Gen.
As that mariokart64 just did.

Things like Half Life 3, Unreal 4, Final Fantasy project make the Wii:U look like a childs toy.

Forget Next Gen.. Wii:U fans should be more worried about Upcoming LAST GEN games ie. MGS, Last of Us, Gears, Watchdogs etc.

Every gamer should be Happy because whatever the Wii:U pumps out, anything after it, is going to be better, mostly :cool:

I would love to hear your thoughts on the next gen glimpse Phantom Pain that seemed to dissapoint quite a few people on SW as well as other gaming forums. With statements ranging from that doesn't look next gen to the Last of Us looked better.

It's really only because game developers have not really taken advantage of the hardware available to graphically top a game like Crysis. That's really the only reason that PC gaming is making the breakthrough it has been making in terms of graphically superior games.
