So was the Wii in the same gen as the 360/PS3? After all, we got a sh*t load of damage control with the Wii over the years.

Yet, now we have individuals ostracizing a system due to power. The Wii was weaker than a potato.

Shadow is the first to come to mind for doing this.[QUOTE="HalcyonScarlet"][QUOTE="bonesawisready5"]I can't wait to see people's explanations as to why the PS4/720 are next-gen when they have multi-core CPUs clocked significantly lower than Cell/Xenon.bonesawisready5
Because their architecture isn't the same as the Cell/Xenon?
That's the point. The Wii U doesn't use the same architecture as Cell/Xenon so all these people going nuts over a lower clock speed don't know what they're talking about. I'm sure all of the next-gen consoles will have good CPUs at half the speed of Xenon/Cell that do great. No my point is the Wii U supposedly still uses the same architecture as the Wii, which uses the same architecture as the Gamecube which is more then ten years old if this is the case.
[QUOTE="ronvalencia"][QUOTE="Cranler"] I dont care! Whats your point anyway? Okay, prove the video game industry follows your definition of the phrase next generation.
I'll bet you can't.
Oh, and I have a dictionary definition that contradicts yours, if you'd like to see it.

I like how you assume that Epic's comments speak for the views of the entire gaming industry but okay, let's roll with it.
Epic Games: Next-Gen console specs are not powerful enough
"With this being said, Epic Games has recently caught a glimpse of what the specs for next-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox 720, will look like. In response, they have stated that they are not going to be enough to provide the type of performance that they are building their next engine for, and are pushing Sony and Microsoft to put more performance into their next systems"
So I guess the PS4 and Xbox 720 are gonna be last gen consoles too. :(
After all, Epic's word is law, right?
Unreal is the most widely used game enigne in the industry so his words do hold more weight. More recently he talked about next gen dev costs to skyrocket which means the next gen consoles will be a lot more powerful.Notice here theres no mention of the wiiu:

There isnt an official one so all we can do is debate. But next gen has always been about big leaps in tech, not baby steps. When devs talk of next gen development the wiiu is rarely mentioned. That should tell you something. Please Log In to post.
