I knew it was fake from the start, because he messed up and put 229, but I have that issue, he should've said it was 230. But even then in the June issue, it didn't say anything about the July issue having the MGS4 review, but it did say it'll have the GT5p review.

Also it's hella funny seeing all these cows damage controlling the part "more cutscenes than gameplay" lol. They said things like MGS4 is about story, so its ok for more cutscenes, lol.

ReverseCycology

The instant dmg control and shouts of EGM is bias, or just trying to drum up attention, were really funny.

Yep, the TC got me though, made me go downstairs and get the latest issue of EGM June 229. Good one TC, you bandodger you, ha.

oh ok. confirmed. party on.

NeoGaf says this is 100% false!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11291676&postcount=24

do we have any more confrimation than the OP's word for it?

Dreams-Visions

Nah One of the Editors from EGM/1up Confirmed its False but Some of the Information Sounds Legit to Him.

All the news to the different forums around the net have spread from this source, no one was able to confirm it until Andrew/skip denied it.

Not true actually. Look in the back. It indicates that both reviews of NG2 and MGS4 would be present. However, there is the common escape point, "All planned editorial content is subject to change" or what have you.

Very impressive fabrication by the TC. Putting just enough in to make it appear legitimate.

I have the June 229 Issue if EGM and it says this on their next-month preview section:

July Issue (#230) - on sale June 3.

Stomp 'Em To The Curb

Rev those chain saw guns, gore geeks - next month we'll be spilling all the bloody details on Gears of War 2. Microsoft's other popular sci-fi shooter has got our trigger fingers itchin' pretty bad, so we're going to alieviate the tingling by being the first in the world to get our greedy paws on the game's single player campaign. In addition to our hadcore hands-on session, we'll also be the first to reveal all the new multiplayer details. Hmm, we wonder what it will have. Some new modes, perhaps? (We hope.) Chain saw dels? (We really hope.) The same archaic matchmaking? (God, we really hope not.) Be sure to roadie run to the newsstands next month to find out all the juicy info about what's actually going down in the fall's must-have Xbox 360 game.

While we're going to love sawing suckers in half in Gears of War 2's multiplayer, we're not too keen on the Wii's shoddy online play. What gives? Come back next month as we discover why the Wii can't handle the fast life of the internet superhighway.

Of course, we'll also have a slew of new previews to take a peek at, including the first look at Rare's furry platformer Banjo-Kazooie 3. Plus, the Review Crew will get down with the highly anticipated tittles like Metal Gear Sold 4: Guns of the Patriots and Ninja Gaiden II.

previews:

Banjo-Kazooie 3

Infamous

Project Origin

reviews:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Ninja Gaiden 2

Wii Fit

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Yeah I saw that part in the magazine, I was reading the wrong section so I didn't see the part where it says the next issue will show MGS4 and NG2 reviews, I posted what it said on my post above. So yeah, the TC's info might be correct but the scores, I'm not sure now. And yeah I did notice that little fine print that says "all planned editorial content is subject to change".

So yes NG2 and MGS4 will be review in July's Issue of EGM 230 not 229.

What's being reviewed isn't fake (MGS4 and NG2), but the score might be, I have no idea now, oh man.

He lied, wrote fake stuff (he stated the cover story is gears of war which was the 229 issue), and then posted lost planet: colonies which wasn't even on ps3 for the first place. Then he put wii ski and had it as a high score, and had grand turismo prologue which was reviewed in 229, but also adding in two other reviews (ng2, and mgs4) giving ng2 a higher score, and forgot to mention reviewed games like Wii fit, and Final Fantasy Tactic, all comes to the conclusion that this was false.

WTF? How did this thread reach 13 pages? Are you guys complete idiots? The TC is level 11 and you take this info as fact?

Silly me, this is System Wars.

Maybe it's because mostly everything he wrote is actually legit, according to a 1UP/EGM writer.

Here, I know I can't post scans, but I'm not sure if I'll get warning or so for posting a picture of my EGM June 229 issue, so I apologize in advance if I did something wrong.

ReverseCycology

The reviewer said MGS won't be reviewed in this issue.

The magazine I have is issue June #229, and the picture I posted is the preview section for July #230 issue. The TC messed up by saying its July #229. The issue I have does not have the review inside it just says it'll have the review in the July #230 issue.

Didn't previous MGS score higher than that at EGM?

Andrew Pfister of 1UP's various posts on this matter:

On the MGS4 review:

this is 100% false. there is no official review of MGS4 in the Gears cover of EGM.skip

there isn't a review of it, just a preview-styl e roundtable limited to the first act that's in the Review Wrap-Up section.

there's a story behind this that jeremy will blog about when the release comes closer.

(the three reviewers, btw, are jeremy, myself, and matt leone -- our reviews will appear in the next issue.)
skip

This is fake. We didn't review MGS4 in the Gears issue of EGM, we're reviewing it next issue due to circumstances beyond our control. The 3 reviewers are Jeremy Parish, Matt Leone, and myself.skip

On the rest of the stuff in the OP:

I left my issue at the office, but the rest of that looks about right.skip

that Lost Planet score looks out of place, too. now that I look at it.skip

I checked out that thread some more at neogaf, and skip even said he's one of the reviewers along with Jeremy, and Matt. Also, it isn't really going to be review. It's going to be like a roundtable preview of the game with Jeremy or somebody writing a blog on it. He said the review is coming next issue.

Why dont you wait for them to review it first? Someone said they gave MGS2 and 3 95/100...

"More cutscenes than gameplay"

That's not a con nor a pro. MGS is about the story... :|

gasmaskman

It's a con to some people, MGS is not for everyone and it never has been. I love MGS, but I kinda wish Kojima would take a page from Valve's book and try making the story part of the gameplay instead of just the old "pause the game so a 5-15 minute cutscene can play" thing.

I think this "scare" is some early warnings that if you give MGS4 a bad, or lower than expectations review, pack your things.

Wow. So the reviews are fake then. There should be a rule to never allow a level 5 poster and below to post in SW.

That doesn't equal 95 though, I think lol.

I think we can safely say the NG scores are 100% legit, since skip would have pointed that out immediately if it wasn't. He only pointed out Lost Planet Colonies' scores being sketchy, which is the second-to-last review score posted, meaning he clearly read through the entire thing.

So what's the deal? Are the MGS4 reviews BS or not? :|
