Last month's issue "June" is 229. This new issue is supposed to be 230 "July". OP messed it up. The 229 issue "june", aka last month's does have the GTA4 review, and they also said at the end of that issue that they will have reviews for NG2 and MGS4 in next month's issue, "July".
[QUOTE="EmperorSupreme"]EGM didnt give Halo3 game of the month either when it came out so anything is possible. LEVEL One with no proof, I'm taking this ightly for now. AmyMizuno
Maybe EGM is just desperate and is trying to do anything... even if it means giving good games bad reviews in order to get people to pick up and read their magazines.
Ya, because that MGS review is atrocious. How dare they only score it as a gold game and not platinum. They are clearly trying to drum up attention by scoring it that way:roll:

Metal Gear Solid is a masterpeice, excellent story, pacing, gameplay. Not to mention Solid Snake. You know...the "Solid" in Metal Gear Solid.
Well, I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear that Kojima once said in an interview that Raiden is his favorite character ever in MGS.
Oh, and Solid Snake is in MGS2. If you actually pay attention to the story you would know why Raiden is in the game, and the main character. It wouldn't make any sense to place Solid Snake at the heart of MGS2.

Yeah, I did pay attention to the story and it was whack. Masterpiece my left nut.

But if everyone who disagrees with you is a rabid lemming even something as reasonable as what you are saying is just a lie.
I think the TC meant it was issue 230, because the issues I have is June 229 and here are the reviews of the games:
Mario Kart Wii - shane = B+, milkman = C+, jeremy = C
Blast Works - ray = A, nick = A-, sharkey = B-
Castle of Shikigami III - sam = C+, a.fitch = C+, ray = B-
UEFA EURO 2008 - todd = B+, andrew p = B+, david = A
NBA Ballers Chosen One - todd = D+, a.fitch = D, g.ford = C
GTA IV - crispin = A+, g.ford = A+, andrew p = A (also says "the 360 version is the one to get")
Viking - D+, C-, C+
Shin Megami Tensei - A, A, A
Myst - C-, D, D
Super Dodgeball Brawlers - C+, C, C+

[QUOTE="cowgriller"]i remember when GS was based on the .1 system. hell i remember years ago when multiplats were given separate scores. nowadays, they give multi's the same score as each other regardless if one has more flaws than the other. tbh, i don't think that mgs4 will get higer than 8.5 on GS but as you said, you don't care about reviews. i for one can't stand the mgs series. i played the original for the ps a decade ago and never liked it. the game play wasn't great at all, especially with the overhead camera that made it seem as if you were playing in a maze rather than an action game. too damn many cutsences. i admit that i like cutsences, especially ones that add new levels of story, dialogue and emotions to a game that would otherwise be absent, but seriously, there is a limit. mgs forced the gamer to sit through 15 minutes of cutsences in between gameplay moments. several of these cutsences really add up and in mgs4, it really does show being that the game is said to be 1/3 cutsences. as for skipping the cutsences, yes you can do that, but then you'll miss relevant information about what is truely happening storywise in the game. all i'm saying is, keep the cutsences but keep them short. hopefully you enjoy mgs4 when you get it. we all have different tastes in games, and this one leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
Zenkuso
I'm a fan of the series, I'll admit it out right and Won't hide it.
I personal enjoy the characters, concepts and intrigue of the story as a whole.
Game reviewing is more simplified nowadays, its why I don't read them much anymore, but metal gear solid has been a AA series here on Gamespot so I wouldn't be surprised at all.
I have different tastes to a lot of people around here, I've been playing games since the 80's and I've come to enjoy certain aspects of games more nowadays then before but I don't bash people for there choices in games cause each of us enjoy something different to one another, most people around here don't debate they just bash which is quite annoying but thats the internet for ya ;)
wow. a gamer since the 80's. i've been a gamer since the early-90's. i prefer my games tobe action packed full of guts and gore. i do enjoy horror games like silent hill. as for mgs, never my cup of tea. reviews today are bought off left and right, and if a publisher buys good reviews and get something less than what they pay for, we end up with the jeff gertsmann incident. reviews are to be taken for what they are, someone else's opinion. if enough reviews are good, then the game can be seen as a success and entertaining. i doesn't necessarily mean that you'll enjoy it yourself, it means others have. the same way reviewers and gamers love the gta series, i hate it. why? though it is action packed, it's pretty uch senseless violence with no point and no story. i can understand were your coming from with your disdain for reviews and their lack of relevance for personal gaming habits and tastes. i feel the same. review scores were made for people who can't decide for themselves. nowadays, they're also used as "ownage" for prepubescent fanboys.
I find it really hard to believe this guy.

Kojima is the greatest, but I would consider myself a groupie of his. I only play MGS. I'm not a fan of ZoE, Snatcher, or PoliceNauts.
What I meant by "it helps" is that it's a good supporter if you're arguing over which MGS title is the best.
But w/e. I agree. MGS4 will blow away NG2, and will be the best MGS yet. And to let you know, I love all the MGS' and rank them as my top 3 favorite games ever like this:
MGS2
MGS
MGS3

I heard about a rumor about a Skies sequel in the makings at some point last year, so that part is very likely true. Pfister also noted that the rest of what the OP wrote looked about right after someone asked him specifically about the Skies sequel, too.

We should have known this was fake from the beginning. If you look at the July issue (which does have Gears 2 on the cover actually) there's not one mention of an MGS4 review.
I think that would've been pretty big news if they were reviewing it.
See. It's fake. And once more Skies of Arcadia II has fallen out of my grasp. Someone will pay dearly for this._BlueDuck_

The guy that reviewd MGS4 in the US PSM was a former OXM editor. He gave it 5/5.
