maybe Epic should donate all those DLC dollars to charity
this seems like a case of Epic trying to look like the good guys but getting to eat their cake as well

Exactly... There laughing all the way to the bank.
[QUOTE="dmaximum"][QUOTE="souledge474"]Why shouldn't they? I mean they were told that it couldn't be done on PS3 right. But then again fanboys are bad for gaming.it will never happen
if it did though...cows would be hyping it to no end

They've been bad mouthing gears more than any other 360 game....its like the hipocracy of lemmings wanting MGS4, after bashing it during e3
You can bash someting and still want it...becuase you can bash it somemore and get ultimate ownage when one fanboys exclusive goes multiplat. It was fun watching the DMC4 multiplat devastation of cows. MGS4 would even be more fun. And then if FF would drop....all the cows would be dead.
But at the same time you can also think those games suck (not that I do think they suck though).

Quick, time to buy a PC that can play Crysis!

"These guys were also one of the first to show off their game engine running on early PS3 devleopment hardware at E3 '05. It seems almost like a perfect match. "
intriguing...maybe the PS3 is actually the best console to make Epic's upcoming games on. Screw the MAN! (MS)
Solid-CELL
Comming from a sony source. Just wondering how they could do that when it was a 360 exclusive then, and being run on a 360 then. Trust me, It was my #1 game of e3 that year.

They know most of their fans are dweebs with little money. So they take their money with their left hand while shaking their hand saying we're sorry with their left.
[QUOTE="pundog"]Just because the other 2 or 3 posts in this thread apparently aren't enough to get it through some peoples heads:
MS owns the rights to the first 2 GeoW titles, its not coming to the PS3 until at least (if ever) GeoW 3.
BlazeDragon132
They own the right to publish it. It can be taken away if Epic funds to publish it on its own.
They wouldn't be able to use the name GeoW though, or any of the characters or background. Lucky for Epic they forgot to add any actual story to GeoW.[QUOTE="Solid-CELL"]"These guys were also one of the first to show off their game engine running on early PS3 devleopment hardware at E3 '05. They're talking about UT3. They showed off UT3 before Gears, and UT3 was thought to be ps3/pc exclusive at the time. They know most of their fans are dweebs with little money. So they take their money with their left hand while shaking their hand saying we're sorry with their left.

Yeah... I don't get why they keep making more content if they don't like people getting charged for it?
All they see is $$$ signs.

im not going to lie i was mad when they said dmc4 was going multiplat but then i remebered.................... CAPCOM LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. the last time they said re4 was going to be exclusive to the gamecube and then it came out on the ps2 and way before that they did it to the dreamcast with code veronica they put it on the ps2. it seems capcome always runs back to sony hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
If Epic cares so much about gamers they should pay for their own servers and release the content for free as well as having dedicated servers for Gears and fix the damn bullet lag. Microsoft also should stop being so damn greedy and give me those damn maps for free.thirstychainsawTHey can't do that. All Xbox 360 games are forced to conform to the XBL standards of online play. Hence, only p2p servers, DLC through the XBL Store, etc.
This one of the pluses of Sony going with the non-unified architecture of the PSN, similar to pc online. Devs can do whatever they want with their games for online play/features.
Can't wait for $14 games that look and play like crap. If they lower the price of games I know that I won't buy to much more anyway because I already have my hands full with games to beat and multiplayer matches to play. I'm sure many others would feel the same way.
Anyway this article sounds false unless Epic games just wants to make itself sound stupid.

Either the story is a fake, or cliff doesn't understand business contracts epic signed with MS. Either way someone is an idiot. Everyone knows that gears cannot ever go to the ps3 simply because the gears 1 &2 licence belong to MS. Who knows what will happen after the release of 2 but that is the reality no matter who gets mad at who.cjnwo4life
They could always change the title of the game the same way Rockstar changes GTA vice city to just Vice city and ported it to the xbox.

Coulda swore FFXI and EA used thier own servers. Which im 99% sure of.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=163465ForTheNguyenI find it funny that they are saying Epic was bragging about costing Microsoft one billion dollars. If they didn't add that extra 256mb of ram it wouldn't be able to compete with the PS3 in graphics.

I believe 1 & 2 are under contract so it has to be done under MS. Part 3 though can be done where ever they want it to be

Oh, so that's why the only good PS3 online games are Sony-published games. No dev wants to have to foot the considerable costs to purchase and maintain both the server and its bandwidth. Sony's only doing it to tweak Microsoft's nose, and you have to wonder how this is affecting Sony's already-sinking bottom line.I don't hate Microsoft or anything, but I have to say this:
Microtransactions are F*%$ing stupid.

Not stupid, the prices they charge are stupid IMO.

Yes they could, EA runs their own servers. And charging for DLC isn't part of it either, its the publisher that decides on the cost of DLC *cough*horse armour*cough*.I doubt that Gears will be ported to the PS3, as well as hope Gears doesn't go multiplatform, but it really warms my heart to see a developer that's not all in it for the money in this day and age. Hats off to EPIC for pushing MS back, I have alot of respect for them.DA_B0MB
Why doesn't Epic use the money they got off of XBL and use it towards the fans or something? Cause they did make money too off of every map purchase and gamertagpics, faceplates etc...

I thought it was the first 3, when they announced it to be a trilogy. the first 2 to be on 360 and the 3rd to be on the next MS console.

How about they give some FREE gamer pics and themes away? Like all of them (not sure if they are available now or not and for how much). So they may be free in whcih case...make more of them.

Microsoft is also part-owner of Gears of War's intellectual property. It was part of the agreement to let Microsoft publish and advertise the game.[QUOTE="makingmusic476"]THey can't do that. Then download the free Xfire, and you can chat instantaneously with anybody while playing any game instead of just games within the same newtork (battlenet, etc.) and join friends' games instantly, taking away the last advantage XBL would've had. All for FREE!
And the PSN could be like this if developers started putting in the effort, which they probably will start doing over the years.

PC online is usually performed on user-run servers. Those that aren't are typically MMO's, which get their revenues from subscriptions, heavy advertising, or (in the case of Guild Wars) revenues from expansion pack sales. Consoles won't allow the use of user-run PC servers--security risk. Please Log In to post.
