Still hope for the PC version. God damn it. Something tells me there's not much hope though, looks like I'm going to have to get the underwear out. ****. [QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]Occasionally I get alot of slow down when looking at npc's, kind of annoying. Stevo_the_gamerVery annoying.
Don;t expect a PC review. If it does come, will be a month late like other multiplatformers. On a side note, aparently on Pc their is a fix for the NPC slowdown bug.

:| So really, the only significant bad thing is the bugs? If so, I expect a re-review once they get the patches out, which they have already promised to do.Head_of_gamesPC version already got a patch from what I hear, and see on Steam.

Why? Not alot of games get those at all, unless like it's like Lost Planet 2 and the PC version comes out later. The game was poorly put together originally, and nothing will change that.
Obsidian is overrated by their fanbase? Sure absolutely they forgive them too much for sloppy work, but they are pretty much under the radar Bethesda are still the king? No because they are pretty sloppy in the polish department as anyone else in the genre, but they make far more simple games. Bethesda is weak. Can we now agree that Obsidian is overrated? & Bethesda is still KING! I'll still be getting this though,

When it comes to polish bethesda is a tiny tiny bit better, but thats about it. Thier games are still buggy and from what I can take from the gs review thats whats really hurting the game.

[QUOTE="Hahadouken"][QUOTE="Upparoom"]It seems that way. Then you get Vanquish which gets a 9.0 out of nowhere... unpredictable to say the least. As usual I'll form my own opinions, but it would be nice to see reviewers start agreeing again. Consensus makes me comfortable. consensus is too pansy. They should be ripping games a new one on sloppy errors. And by that same token yes i'm willing to admit Mr. Von Ord probably let Vanquish off the hook in some areas(length being one of them I guess). I feel like the game critics are too forgiving, but I guess that's a different argument for a different day. I'm not saying I want them to artificially pump up a games score, I didn't like FO3 at all so I have no vested interest in NV being glorious. I'd just like them to have some ****ing integrity. If the game is buggy as hell, good on VO for ripping it up, but I would like to see everyone calling them out on it.7.5? Ouch. GS has been merciless lately :|. Here comes the inevitable "I WAS NEVER HYPED FOR DIS LULZ 7.5 OWNT IM NOT BUYINZ THIS!"
Is it just me or are there a lot of games this fall with better user reception than review(LOS, this, etc).?

 I called it!!! I knew this game had flop written all over it.Sp4rtan_3
You do know the game scored low cause of bugs right?
Pacing and writing is much better in New Vegas than Fallout 3 so far, and I haven't noticed any significant bugs but then again I'm playing the PC version. Much lower than I expected.
It's funny how a hardcore RPG site such as NMA has given New Vegas a good review yet Gamespot didn't, while NMA gave Fallout 3 a negative review while Gamespot again did the opposite. It's interesting seeing how some aspects of a game are more highly valued from person to person.

I have had more fun with New Vegas in 10 hours then I did in 50 hours with Fallout3.
Fallout New Vegas >>> Fallout3 in every single way besides the Radio stations.. In my personal opinion of course.
Obsidian deserves some props for making a great fallout game again with a better story, atmosphere, characters, Voice Acting, dialogue and rpg elements then Fallout3 had. I suggest trying the game first before you call out OVERRATED!
Gamepsot gave the game 7.5 and IGN gave it 9/10, big deal.. try the game yourself.
Hell, I had more bugs in Fallout3 on release day the I have with New Vegas so far. no crashes, freezes or gamebreaking bugs in my 10 hours on the pc version. Had a slowdown in one building and a few NPCS got stuck tahts the only bugs I have encountured.
Well I have had my share of problems. However, after downloading that fix created by one of the users, it runs 50x better. It still needs improvement, but at least I can get a bit deeper into the game. Right now I am looking through the homes at Nipton to find some loot. So far, I am having a blast. I was not a big fan of FO3, Bethesda's games are just too simple for me now, Morrowind is fantastic though. Obsidian really needs to get their crap together on the technical side of things. After that, they would be golden. millerlight89
Well to be fair, Obsidian was stuck working with one of the buggiest current gen engines available. One that has never gone more than a couple weeks after launch without a patch before. Obsidian didn't make things any better, and their reputation for stinking at polish seems intact. But this game was gonna be a glitchfest from the moment it was announced.
Wish Bethesda would get away from using Gamebryo. Sure Oblivion looked fantastic back in the day, but Fallout and Elder Scrolls/Oblivion deserve a better engine. Tech5 seems like the logical choice considering Bethesda is publishing id games now. Would also love to see a new ES or FO running on CE3, but I doubt that would happen.

Bethesda said that iD Tech 5 would only be used by Bethesda published games, going into the future. That's awesome! You'll have to take my word for it because I don't feel like looking it up :P.
Turning away from the review floppage for just a moment, I wanna commend Obsidian for the hardcore mode in the game. 10 hours in, it's really changed the entire feel of the game compared to FO3, where running at several thugs guns-a-blazin' was par for the course. It's really forced me to calculate movements and use terrain and surprise to my advantage, and even avoid fights I never would have blinked at in FO3... Not to mention constantly looking for low radiation food and drink. I might not have even tried it if it weren't for the ability to try it out and disable it at any time, but now I'm hooked.

Not a bad idea, but it would nicer if they came out and said, "All Bethesda published games are now powered by Tech5."
Rage looks amazing, and that's at 60fps. It's weird they don't drop that clunky old Gamebryo engine and use something cutting-edge like Tech5. Perhaps it wasn't ready in time, or they were lazy and wanted to cut corners. Didn't seem to work out too good. Wonder how they're liking all the negative press?
Here's the link you were talking about.

Hardcore mode it is then :).
[QUOTE="Vinegar_Strokes"]not really, reviews are based on the thoughts of one person, i have different thoughts. vanquish doesn't look like my type of game, i am not a hater. heres another example. GS reviewed Mass effect 1 and gave it an 8.5. they also gave 8.5 to Ace Combat 6. i enjoyed both immensely, but mass effect is a much better game IMO than AC6. surprises me to hear you say Vanquish is not your sort of game when you an ME fan. both fantasy TPS. ok one has more RPG'ness but still both focused on shootingSo Vanquish>>>>>Fallout 3:NV. i guess the Vanquish haters are feeling pretty silly about now
sts106mat
I'd have to strongly disagree with you there. Been playing both games and while Vanquish certainly is fun, it's not very deep.So Vanquish>>>>>Fallout 3:NV. i guess the Vanquish haters are feeling pretty silly about now
Vinegar_Strokes
It all comes down to personal preference no doubt, but the amount of content and depth just really makes the games uncomparable.
Fallout: New Vegas is the kind of game you can really sink your teeth in to and enjoy for long periods of time and get lost in it, where Vanquish is great for short periods of time.I'd say playing Vanquish is like a roller coaster ride, it's thrilling and upbeat for a few moments but is over in the blink of an eye. Playing Fallout: New Vegas is like spending a whole week at your favorite vacation spot.

According to one guy. New Vegas has the same metascore as Vanquish, and the PC version has even higher. So Vanquish>>>>>Fallout 3:NV. i guess the Vanquish haters are feeling pretty silly about now

Fallout 3 had a story?Oh hey it's the score FO3 should have got.
Anyway I am actually interested in picking it up despite the lack-luster Fo3.

"story isn't as good as in FO3"

FO3 had a good story?

Called it from the very beginning. The fact the Obsidian can't polish a game to save their lives should have been enough evidence that the game had a good chance at floppage.
That said, I plan on getting it because Obsidian does make good games, and it's likely they made a much more superior Fallout game all things considered. But I'm waiting for it to be fixed and price to be dropped.
I really doubt they made a worse story than Fallout 3's. Seems impossible, really.Oh hey it's the score FO3 should have got.
