@creepywelps:

Lol :P
As for Spencer. I think the problem is that game companies like EA, Activision, and MS wanted to squeeze more money out of their games, which in itself isn't a big deal since they're businesses. But to do that, they started shifting towards rinse and repeat type multiplayer games where they can sell additional content through micro transactions. These types of games aren't inherently bad, but it becomes an issue when these companies start investing more in these kinds of games than great single player experiences. Then these same companies try to push the idea that SP games are dying, when in reality it's being killed off for what they think is a more profitable model.
Sony's success with God of War is proof that if you invest enough into a project and give it time, you will get a better return on your investment. Not only did God of War become the highest rated game on PS4, it also sold 3 Million copies in 3 days, and potentially helped increase console sales (we'll get proof of that when NPD is out) despite it not having multiplayer or micro transactions. Compare that to a game like Sea of Thieves, where multiplayer and cosmetic upgrades where prioritized over the actual gameplay experience, got an underwhelming score, and didn't sell anywhere near as well as GOW despite being sold on Xbox One and PC.
What would happen if MS started investing more into their games instead of their services? I think we'd see great games released on Xbox. We've seen it happen before in previous gens with Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, and others.
@Zero_epyon: who mentioned anything about days?
You're crying about low attach rates with numbers only 3 days after release.
@NathanDrakeSwag:
Quote : These are the kinds of sales Halo and Gears used to get during the 360 days.
......
You know what the fun fact is? Halo 3 ( best selling Halo ) sold 3.3 mil. units in 12 days.
Took 3 months for Halo 5 to get to 5 Million.
@cainetao11:
Again, that's not entirely what Spencer said. And read between the lines. Sp games exist and Sony does them good but they don't have an impact as they used to. (Microsoft struggles making them.) And look at Xbox One's Sp games exclusively, they suck!
Sunset Overdrive tanked. Halo 5 campaign sucked ass. Gears of War campaign sucked ass. Fable is basically gone now. And all we got left is Forza and the mp of those games! The imagination is DEAD now on MS' side. And Spencer realized this which is why he worded this way.
You're thinking of this in Black and White, not me. Uncharted 4 did exceedingly well. God of War 4 did exceedingly well. Doom 6 which is mostly campaign with a shit mp did exceedingly well. Breath of the Wild did exceedingly well. Mario Odyssey did exceedingly well.
Everyone else's Sp games are still rocking hard but Xbox is falling short. So it's not the genre that's dying out, it's really Xbox One's exclusive Sp games.
@Zero_epyon: oh so you are moving the goal posts from your original post. Good to know. I don’t care how many days it’s been, didn’t mention days, and don’t care. The attach rate is super low.
Posts you were included on:
"Sea Of Thieves is on PC and Xbox One and it took an entire week to get those numbers.
God of war blew past that in just three days.
No platform will ever see a game be sold for every hardware unit sold. That's a seriously flawed point."
Post you replied to:
"Lems new sad argument: A game that's critically acclaimed must sell at 100% attach rate or it's a failure. Both the game and the install base.
Yup! Every person that's ever bought a PS4 is supposed to buy this game. Even the ones who don't own a PS4 anymore, those who don't enjoy third person action games, those who can't buy the game because of censorship laws, those who bought a PS4 for their under aged children and so on. I guess every game ever released has been a failure.
Can lems get any sadder?
Where's the goal post move?
@kuu2: If GoW's attach rate is super low then the attach rate for every Xbone exclusive is non-existent. Remember when Halo outsold every Sony exclusive? Now it gets outsold by Uncharted 4, God of War and even a new IP from the makers of Killzone.
It will also be outsold by Spider-Man, TLOU 2, Death Stranding. Possibly even Ghosts of Tsushima and Days Gone.
Went from cows don't buy their games to muh attach ratio!
Sony cares about how much they sell and are interested in making their money back, I'm going to guess they're happy with breaking their sales records and going on to becoming one of the best selling exclusives this gen. Sony Santa Monica already hard at work on their next game.
Lems are too dense to realize that part of the reason the PS4 sells so well is that it caters to many different types of gamers that like to buy different things.
They should probably be more worried about their own games sales. Most of their "exclusives" don't even reach 1 million sales. Microsoft already lost Insomniac and Remedy as partners due to low sales.
@biack_goku: the attach rate argument is a new one lems are pulling out of their asses.
They lost the movie game argument.
They lost the sp games don't matter argument.
They lost the power matters argument.
Lems are the saddest bunch of fanboys in the universe. ????
@AzatiS: Just stating that the GTA Online was implemented way later. It sold because of the campaign.
Yeah exactly. I mean yes, MPs are generating more $$ in the long run and all but why does it matter if a good SP game meeting its profits target in the first place ? If Sonys or Nintendos developers and publishers dont give a shit why everyone else do including Spencer ? It doesnt make any sense ..... EXCEPT if your hardware sales MR Spencer suck in order for MS to give the green light for exclusives which is the most likely scenario at this point.
I would call all this damage control personally from Spencer because lets be honest, he is in a nasty position. From one hand you having Xbox community asking for exclusives and on the other you have Sony delivering exclusive after exclusive. The guy did nothing for Xbox brand, he is a charismatic, likeable guy but thats it.
All MS did with X1 was copy, in its own way, the leaders. First they tried to copy Wii in their own way because that was the leader at the time and that backfired. Now they tried to take the PS4 slogan of " most powerful console" because they were thinking that was PS4s selling point or something. What are they thinking i dont get it.
I get that people like Phil, but I honestly don't see him. It's one of those situations again where EVERYONE (ಠ_ಠ)
likes the person, while they annoy me. He's a kiss ass and he's not doing anything productive. He constantly praises Sony and Nintendo, which I respected initially. Though while he's praising their games, they're actually getting exclusives while he's getting nothing. I mean I don't understand why the Xbox One owners still like him.
Microsoft is looking at trends. They don't understand that trends evolve over time and that everything isn't a one size fit all. Like the Wii. Microsoft tried to copy the Wii with motion controls, a Dance exclusive, and Fitness exclusives. They fail to realize that casuals/non gamers don't want to play them all the time. When casual gamers got tired of Wii's fitness games and Just Dance, they had 2D Mario and Mario Kart to break the monotony. If they got tired of Dance Central and the Kinect's fitness games, they got Forza, Halo, and Gears of Wars (games that they aren't interested in). Then for the Xbox One, they looked at trends of multiplats selling the most and how most of the Xbox 360 owners played multiplats and watched TV. They don't realize that multiplats do sell more than exclusives, but exclusives give them a reason to buy the console. Also, once a console is on its last legs, people are going to use it as a convenient media box. I did the same with my Wii after a while. My brother did the same with his PS3. They don't get that exclusives and games that don't require online are the reason to get a system.
@commander: Personally, I'd take Eve Valkyrie over the dreck people brag about in these discussions. Congratulations on finally getting BattleZone, since we are on the topic of being late to parties.
don't care about battlezone lol, or eve valkyrie for that matter, the ps4 would have been boring for me this gen, still would be since I play a lot of magic duels , and that isn't on the ps4, even the pc version is not as good as the xbox version, since you can't even communicate with your teammates and opponents through the game ui, and it really ruins the game in terms of teamplay. Not to mention I rather play on the xbox anyway.
I play pubg too btw, and I don't play with mouse and keyboard anymore,
But at this pont , the ps4 has become so cheap , I could just buy one if I really wanted to play some of those sony exclusive, but truth be told, I can't really be bothered. I just don't care about the content on there.
We've gone from cows don't buy their games to muh attach ratios and now to talking about random Xbox statistics and pixels. Trying to follow lem logic here.

Eve Valkyrie
I was hyped about that game, I felt it would be the best VR title.
Then I played it, game takes control of you, talks to you endlessly about a story you dont care about, I literally stopped playing by the time I had actual control of the game and I havent been back sense.
i was horrible in my opinion. which means a lot of people might like it
very little ticks me off then being FORCED into the story of a game by the game taking away all control of your flight.
This goes to show you single player games aren't even dead and Spencer was so full of himself for saying such a thing. Single player>MP.
I still have lots to do in God of War so I have yet to beat it. Such a fun game.
MP > Single Player, always have and always will.
Single Player games are boring as hell, not everyone likes playing against stupid computer controlled AI, people like playing against actual live players.
@cainetao11:
Me liar? LOL. Just quoted what your lovely Phil said.
I don't expect you to see or admit it. You suck Sony pole, I get that. But there are others here that can read the text of said interview and realize, holy shit it isn't what cows make it out to be. The best selling games every year aren't SP whereas they used to be. So obviously they do not have the same impact they used to because MP sells more and pulls in more money on console. The numbers are there, only a bitch-ass ignores them.
@cainetao11:

And that first line is where we differ.
I wont read between the lines because I am the one filling it in then. I am honest enough to own that. I go by what was ACTUALLY SAID IN TYPE.
Anything else is your input. Own it. Don't bitch out, own it dude.
Like Shawn Layden said in Dec at PSX. "MP is not our studios focus". I have thrown that out repeatedly because Sony charges for access to MP yet does not care at all about it. Now, truthfully is that what he said? No. But I push that button since Dec and a few cows have called me out on it. Funny how that works, huh? Read between the lines, which means you fill it in, with MS but not Sony? LMAO
@tryit: You're missing out. The stories are really only there to introduce you to the different types of mission modes you will run into in MP. You just have to relax, let them yammer, and then blow everything out of the sky like a boss. Best. Game. Ever.
@tryit: You're missing out. The stories are really only there to introduce you to the different types of mission modes you will run into in MP.
well to be clear I do play VR in Elite Dangerous a lot and it is amazing no doubt. (VR in space games that is)
@cainetao11: I don't understand your point. It's simply obvious that M$ doesn't see SP games as profitable because they're high risk investments and they don't believe theyd succeed in this area. They prefer low budget MP that is filled with microtransactions, it's what's they're trying to shove down consumers throats since 360 days.
On the other hand, Sony charges for online but leaves the online for other games such as Overwatch, GTA online and the list goes on.
What was your point?
@cainetao11:
And what? You think Spencer would be dumb enough to admit to everyone that it's Microsoft's fault that their Sp games are tanking? It is seen right in front of you. They can't do what Sony does and so, you have to focus on what IS selling for the console. Which is multiplayer.
This goes to show you single player games aren't even dead and Spencer was so full of himself for saying such a thing. Single player>MP.

Fair enough I supposed. With single player, I can complete a game anytime at my own pace and it's why games like Witcher 3 proves that a single player can be as successful if more work is put into it.
@davillain-: that guy is crazy, actually the sales are well balanced between multi and SP games
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/
I wouldn't say he's crazy but, MP gaming isn't as good as it used to be. Not saying all are shit, but some of use want single players in our games, not MP only.

PUBG had 2.1 million Concurrent players today at one single time.... that's 2/3rds of God of War's sales on a half-finished game that has been playable for nearly 2 years.
That is ONE MP game, and no longer the highest....
Yet you link VG Charts and only care about box sales?
Must be fun living in that little world with horse blinkers on just to win internet arguments.
EDIT - steamspy seems to be unable to process total sales beyond a certain point, but its between 20,000,000 .. 50,000,000.
