[QUOTE="blingchu55"]Yah, the conference sucked, but after it we got a new Mario game, a new Zelda game, a new Pikmin game, possibly a new Kid Icarus game(miyamoto doesn't speak teh best english....) and the news that came after about things unveiled during the conference was awesome. Conduit has 16 player wii speak enabled multiplayer. Animal Crossing Wii has actuall downloadable content, not on the disc kinda stuff. Wii Sports 2 actually looks like a good game, even if it didn't come with WM+. And we got a microphone. I don't see how hard core gamers can be disapointed by all this.....Zelda, Mario, Pikmin and Animal Crossing? Big letdown FTW.
subrosian
You don't see how hardcore gamers are letdown by Nintendo focusing an entire conference on casuals *that no casual was watching* and then telling us, at some point in the future, you'll get more of the games you like? No ****, of course Nintendo is going to make another Zelda, Mario, and Pikmin *at some point*. They HAVE NOT confirmed any Kid Icarus games, and they haven't *actually announced* (given us a a release window and shown footage) of any games.
"We're working on a new Zelda title" is not an announcement, the last time they said that, they delayed the game for several yearsjust to get it on the Wii.
Nintendo talks about innovation and shows us none. Nintendo talks about hardcore gamers, then doesn't show hardcore games. Nintendo says they care about veteran gamers, then Reggie throws a pissy fit that GTA DS and Animal Crossing don't cut it as "big announcements for core gamers" that he promised for the E3 conference. And anyone who believes their BS - because this is BS, we whine, they say "don't worry we're working on something for you" - they show Wii Fit, we whine they say "don't worry, we're working on something for you" and they casualize Brawl. We say "c'mon Nintendo, give us a real core game" and they say "it's Animal Crossing, you feel like you're in a real word!"
Uh...huh... that was impressive on the N64 when it was called Animal Forest and GCN as Animal Crossing... since then you've added uh... uh... online, a microphone, and haircuts... and taken away the NES games, the island, and real-world holidays. Let me tell you "Bunny Day" is so damn hardcore that Fata1ty skips Quake tournaments to attend.
I agree with most of that......but I don't see how slowing down the gameplay speed a bit and taking out exploitable moves is"casualizing"As for animal crossing Halloween and Christmas were confirmed, Bunny day is just another name for Easter and the city is essentially a replacement for the island
Hah! Miyamoto claimed "Now we look at more ... an opportunity for us to introduce new concepts and new types of play "
WHAT NEW GAMEPLAY?
What did Nintendo show at E3 that wasn't promised or shown in 2006 / 2007?
subrosian
The correct way to spell innovation is R-A-V-I D-R-U-M-S.
But yeah... I am also looking for this new gameplay... Where is it?

Uh oh. People are catching on now.
You are only supposed to be looking at sales numbers.
Does Nintendo really think more mini game compilations are what people want? Nobody is craving another Wii Sports. We've already seen what is possible with the Wiimote. Now it's time to stop showcasing the possibilities and actually deliver a full-fledged game.
Where is my Mario Tennis? Where is my Goldeneye?
What is so upsetting is Nintendo created the tools needed for something fresh, but they haven't delivered. When everyone went out and purchased a Wii, they were willing to sacrifice technical goodies for a unique experience not found anywhere else.
Now with the balance board and this new wiimote adapter (which promises more precise control), we can actually bring the arcade into our home.
Anyone remember an police shooting game found in an arcade a while back that allows you to take cover and dodge bullets with motion sensoring? A quick google search gave me the title of "Police 24/7" aka "Police 911". I think this is the game I'm thinking of...
Here's a link to what the machine looks like: http://www.klov.com/images/11/118124215212.jpg
Can't this be done on the Wii? This was made in the year 2000 and I believe was ported to the ps2 (not sure whether the motion was included). So, what gives?

You people don't know what you're talking about. In Wario, you FLICK THE WIIMOTE UP to jump! HOW CAN YOU NOT CALL THIS INNOVATION!? I mean... most games, you do what? Press the "A button" to jump? Psh... Nintendo is letting you FLICK THE WIIMOTE to jump! No longer do you have to press that button! Why would you want to press a button anyways? When you can flick the Wiimote! To jump! As Wario! It'll be fun. You'll like it.... please.../end sarcasm
Man, Nintendo's gunna make me take up drinking, I swear...
I'm sick of tired reading these uneducated comments.
"E3 is no longer a place to show core titles."- Miyamoto [paraphrased]
They didn't casualize Brawl, Brawl more smoothly than Melee did.
Innovation? You mean perfect 1:1 ratio? Hm. I guess no innovation.
We got a microphone peripheral and virtual confirmation on just about all the games we were hoping to hear about including mario galaxy 2, which was unexpected.
I will say this again, people are crucifying Nintendo for what? A PRESS CONFERENCE. Key word, PRESS. The PRESS eats up the casual stuff.
You wait, on TV Wii sports 2, Wii music is going to be all over the place just like wii fit was.
Go to the wii boards, there are some lovely threads that list every Core title. Nintendo didn't abandon nobody, in fact, they're giving us everything we want.
What, are you going to cry over some trailer of Zelda we didn't get?
I'm honestly losing my mind reading people who can't for 2 seconds, research something before they run their mouth on issues they are not even familiar with.
Casual games have always been around, they are just being pushed more because other gamers (yes, core gamers, there other people who play video games) want to see stuff for them as well.
This is a poorly researched topic, evidence of trolling, and no concrete evidence.
Sure i was disappointed, i'm not ignorant, but that's because i was hoping for a surprise. But my games are still coming.
If this stuff is still coming. Wii got an upgrade to our online experience and Wii motion plus is our newest Innovation.. how can a Nintendo fan be disappointed? Did you want fireworks, loud cheering, and hot e3 booth girl handing you a Wiimote to the newest Zelda...
Seriously...
It's not about these games still coming, we all KNEW that there's going to be another Zelda. Them saying "ya we're working on it" is stating the obvious. The thing people are upset about is that Nintendo built up to E3 for weeks by saying that they would have games for their core gamers for THIS YEAR. They did not deliver. How can Nintendo fans be disapointed? I don't know, how about the fact that we have nothing to look forward to from Nintendo until late 2009 at the earliest? How about the fact that I can't listen to music when I play online and wanna use the mic? How about the fact that there was no storage solution? How about the fact that we have 1 first party DS game on the way?
How about the fact that Nintendo no longer cares about us?
BTW, 1:1 controls are overrated, but I think I'll get into that in its own separate topic which I'll make right now.
I find it funny that there's no replacement for the NES games though Shinobishy... they used to give those away in the GCN era - now I guess they want to sell them on WiiWare. I guess we have to turn to other games to provide that again.

Well I said it in the middle of this year. This E3 was the most important for Nintendo compared to all the other companies. Why? Because it would signify if developers would jump on it or just treat it like crap like they pretty much are right now.
Now come last year okay I gave them a little wiggle room. I said to myself that hey Devs might think that the Wii is a fad and that PS3 will come to reclaim the throne. But another year later the Wii is still going strong and stronger then ever.
So I was like this is it. This is the year that Nintendo and the Wii get massive 3rd Party JPN support and good 3rd Party Support from the rest of the world as well.
But guess what? It didn't. Not only that but it barely got any In-House Support either.
Its like Nintendo just benched all of their best players
Its like Nintendo is just wasting talent. They have tons of it. Great people and wtf are they doing? Nothing really.
So here it comes. E3. BlackBond is excited. He's expecting a Kid Icarus, a Zelda, possibly F-Zero, Pikman, Animal Crossing, tons of Japanese support. Maybe some new games and definately something amazing Nintendo and Miyamoto are working on.
And do you want to know how I looked after I saw the end of this conference?
Well my first thought was this. "WTF ITS OVER!?
Dude must be faking lol.
But then reality set in :(
It just came out of F'N no where....
It was like watching a Nintendo Armagedon.....
I'm sitting here listening to this stupid mom talk about her broken wrist with Reggie and the first thing that comes to my mind is, "Tell me, she did not just say that...."
***** if your wrist is hurt then get someone else up there who is 100% I don't got time for this **** lol.
It then became one disappointment after another
Wii Music
Wii Sports Resort
More freaking sales talk.
The mocking of us with F-Zero Music
A controller add on that was demonstrated with a freaking frisbee game!?
More damn sales!?
No announcement of any amazing top tier 1st Party Nintendo game!?
I mean these mutha ******* can't be seroius? They started out with tons of in house games that were for the core Nintendo fan such as
Well what in the **** happened? What the hell happened. If you're not understanding what happened this is what happened.
Yup that's Nintendo holding the Championship Gold waving bye bye to us. Cya, so long, GTFO.... :?
It seemed Nintendo was too concerend with showing us how much they sold and how much software they sold instead of showing us games. Well I got news for Nintendo.
IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU SELL!!!
Give us mutha F'N games. You realize that the 3rd Parties on a Nintendo system with games like Mad World and Tales of Symphonia 2 are looking better then your games right now. 3rd Party Nintendo games are looking better then your own supposive Legendary In house games.
Yeah what. Lets see you how you like your Limo without a passenger side mirror Reggie!
Loved the post BB, but you are just going to get tons of DC talking about how Nintendo said E3 is no longer for core games...
You know, "Just Wait", but coming from a different group....
I don't want to wait. I have been waiting. Nintendo, I should not have to rely on 3rd parties for games to look forward to on a Nintendo console. You have the IPs and the talent.
Wow us hardcores who supported you when you were down with some great games that we are clamoring for.
I have a post to make here, but I will also post in my blog
"Just Wait"...on the other foot?
Many people say to PS3 fanboys mocking them that they have to wait for the big titles while they are playing the big games. With the recent E3, this statement now goes toward those with baised for the Wii.
PS3 and 360 have been getting a good amount of huge name hits. Grand Theft Auto IV just came on both platforms and got a 10 here at GS. PS3 owners just got treated with MGS4, also which received a 10 here. The games are defining what we know about games and making strives toward innovation. You could argue this with Super Mario Galaxy, but the game makes hardly any use of the Nintendo's main future...motion control.
The innovation, instead of making games that push the boundries, is to make games that people unwilling to learn button controls can be able to play. For the hardcore games, Nintendo just slaps many control options to play the games, none of them really do anything different than last time. Innovation with the controller was done with Zack and Wiki, where is Nintendo's version of this game?
Now Nintendo gives us features that were already standard on the other two platforms: internet play (only one done decently was Mario Kart Wii) and voice chat (welcome to 2002). They failed to address any real issues with us Wii owners like "With Wiiware, is there a way I can hold more games?", "Is there going to be a price drop anytime soon", and "What is next in store for the big named franchises?". Instead, they tell us we should have been contented with what was shown at E3 instead of the usual "we have big things in store".
Listen, G4 is meant for gamers...not some retail store. If there was games on the horizon, such as the rumored Pikmin 3, he would have said something. Reggie telling G4 that AC and GTA: China Town for the DS is hardcore, that means there is nothing planned to be soon. The list Nintendo gave us was up until Summer of 2009. It might be true that Mario and Zelda is being worked on, but it is not coming anytime soon. For a game to be coming soon, it has to have screens and videos to get the gaming community excited and Nintendo obviously has none of this.
The PS3 has shown they have a big list planned for later. Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet is this year, while Killzone 2 and INFAMOUS is next year. We don't know much about MAG and GoW3 which will obviously be shown next year. 360 has the new Banjo on 360 and remake on XBLA. Fable 2, Too Human, and Gears 2 is coming this year, and there will be many new games planned for 2009 next E3. The third party supports PC, PS3, and 360 since many huge games are on it such as Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, and more.
What about the Wii? None of the huge 3rd party titles are coming out. The third party just for the Wii actually does look interesting this year. They have to make up for Nintendo's lack luster showing. Wii Sports Resort isn't even this year. All we get from them is Wario 2D (why isn't a WiiWare game...in fact where were the WiiWare games in E3?), Animal Crossing (ok game, but nothing huge), and Mario Sluggers (I already played baseball in Wii Sports...pass). This means no time near will be the new Kirby Wii game or F-Zero. They are planned for late 09...great.
Including the big release of Soul Caliber IV this month, 360 and PS3 owners will be busy with many games. Wii owners have hardly anything this summer or fall to play. They will be the ones waiting instead of the cows. So if you see a sheep, say "just wait" to him and laugh.
Do people just avoid my posts?
Blackbond your post was entertaining but had no substance. I disagreed then, and I still disagree. E3 was not going to, and it didn't show where Nintendo stands. We're all going too damn crazy over this.
If there's that much emphasis on this e3, then as a 360 owner as well I should be panicking after I saw all that casual crap and wannabe Mii's.
But I don't, because I know the games are coming.
It seems that everyone wants a nice little trailer, maybe a screenshot or some info on a game so that they can go to bed at night. We should be glad that they confirmed our games, and that they're coming. Have they let us down yet with their core first party titles? No way, they have been nothing but pure quality.
Secondly, subroasian, GTA DS has the potential to be innovative, any regular game that goes to the stylus and wiimote is an automatic candidate for being innovative. and the wiimotion plus is a sign of things to come. You complain about the Nintendo not being innovative, honestly... WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?(caps) Honestly, please, tell me. I'm dying to know how your topic with so much criticism has nothing to recommend. Recommend please.
Look, I've been more than content with my Wii and have actually had more fun with it than my 360 simply because I love the Wiimote.
There are a ton of quality games. But everyone wants the whole farm from Nintendo, considering they gave you their top 5 franchises in a year and a half when it took a lot longer with the gamecube.
The conference sucked. But goddamn, does no one do any research anymore? Has system wars become infested with people who can't look at more than one site for information? Wait, its system wars... logic epic failz here.

Brawl is comparable to a match of Halo 2 where everyone spawns with a rocket launcher. Punishment is gone because you can't combo, no L-canceling, stale move negation, so the sense of risk versus reward is gone and camping with projectiles is the most effective strategey, edgegaurding is gone because of auto sweetspotting, the increased ledge grab range, and reverse ledge grabbing, tech chasing is gone, dash dancing is gone, the game is floaty as hell, and wavedashing is gone, tripping and air tripping, and chain grabs take zero skill now.
And don't tell me wavedashing is a glitch, Sakurai said it was intended in a Nintendo Power interview.

Why would you panic as a 360 owner? You are dominating the JRPG market, you got the PS3's biggest gun, you have Banjo, Too Human, and Gears of War 2 coming, and some nice mulitplat games such as Fall Out 3. Why would you be disappointed?
Yeah well what games are coming? I don't live in fairy tale assumption land like Amy does when she says Star Ocean 4 coming to PS3 is a fact. I live in reality and the reality is as of this very moment there are no big games coming.
This would be the biggest problem. Their first party games are quality. And guess what. They straight abandoned them. A Pikman 3 announcement was the only positive thing really.
Of course everyone wants the whole farm from Nintendo. Why? Because they have the farm. They have the milk, cows, sheep, chickens, and everything else to carry a damn system by themselves. They have pulled more weight then any dev in history by pulling two lead bricks in the N64 and GC and keeping them alive. I expect more, everyone else expects more and you should expect more. Look at MS they are getting their butts kicked in sales but those guys don't quit. You knock them down and they get right the F back up and keep coming. You slap the **** out of them and they get back up with FFXIII your biggest gun. There is no quit in those guys. They fail in Japan what do they do? They get JRPG support. They still fail in JPN what do they do? They get more JRPG support. The bulls won't quit. PSN HOME comes and they 1UP that mess even before HOME can come.
Where is this determination by Nintendo? Where is there cause to get 3rd Parties on board? Where is there drive to get their ownselves on board? Its not there atm thats for sure.
Yeah the conference sucked and thats why Nintendo fans are pissed. What happened to the days when Nintendo could steal the show with one amazing game. Those days are over. Nintendo better shape the hell up fast. Brawl won't last me forever and the only game I see myself buying on Wii this year is Tales of Symphonia 2.
Nintendo needs to get their **** together. And if you can't see that they need to then I don't believe you are fan of theres. Because if you were you would know that have the potential and talent to do better and they should do better.

Agreed. Color-coded ownage is win.
What Nintendo does now would be like going to Emeril's and having him serve you a McDonald's hamburger. Yeah, I know "millions served daily" (sales) but Nintendo *used* to be known for quality games. Guess those days are over.
I have been thinking the same. The only way they can do something is if they have more on that new mario and zelda that they said were in development. It's true watch the confrence part where he talks about the graphics and stuff.
But i think ill get a 360.

I've been giving some thought to a PS3, but I think I'd also like a new monitor and a swimming pool full of chambord. The latter seems to have been the inspiration for the Samsung T220... anyway, on the subject matter at hand, it's approaching the point where I may never own a Wii - and that would be odd, for me to not own one of the consoles in a generation, when I normally have them all.
The majority of you lot are hypocrites. When nintendo was releasing their core games in the first 1.5 years of the wii's release you all complained about them being the masters of rehashes. You need to do some research before you complain about games. You guys dont even know that the team responsible for the Wii sport type of games is Nintendo ead group 2.There are about 5 more teams in ead right now that are all making games and yet you people nag and complain about nintendo abandoning the hardcore market even though they have released lots of first party hardcore games in the wii's first 18 months.
Another thing you all forget is that e3 has totally changed. For godssake its even in the naming of the expo. According to Wiki e3 is a business conference nothing more nothing less.
Blackbond, I couldn't agree more with your post. Awesome job! :)
Sonic_Spark: So are you saying they're going to announce more 2008 games at some other event? No. Yes the Zelda and the Pikmin will come. But when? 2009? Nintendo said they had great games for us THIS year that would be announced at E3. Instead we have to wait until late 2009 and beyond. Insulting the intelligence of those in system wars does nothing sonicspark. There are basically no first party Nintendo games coming for the rest of 2008, this is a fact and one that everyone, sheep or not, are going to have to deal with. Defending this point is lame.
We have to look at what they do, not what they say. They are totally changing their focus to their new 'mainstream' userbase. And it's paying off for them. So nintendo will do what the profits tell them. As much as their loyal, or not so loyal anymore, supporters want the next zelda and whatever else, that wouldn't mean as much profit to them as the next wii-fit or music or whatever. So I think we should just accept that Nintendo is no longer the company that gave us the console with Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Wind Waker and so many other games, it's the company that tries to capture the mainstream attention with all their hooks and 'neat' looking ideas. I personally have had fun with super mario galaxy and twilight princess and to a certain extent wii sports. I might buy wii fit, but as it stands there are 0 games in the confirmed future that I'm going to buy. So I'm gonna take that, and that'll be that. We shouldn't think of Nintendo as a 'person' that betrayed us, but a publically shared company that will make decisions according to profits, and not according to what the people with link in their signature say.
dude... nintendo literally sucks hands down.... my brother bought a wii and 2 weeks after brawl was released he
abandoned it LOL then i tried to play zelda (latest one dont remember name) and dude.. OMFG i couldnt play it
for longer than 1 hour, cuz its soooooooooo boring

Yeah, I don't hate Nintendo, I disagree with their direction and feel they are no longer the company for me. I hate what nintendo's doing, and won't stand for it if they go even 1 more gaming event with the same direction they took E3. This guy however is on basically a religious crusade against nintendo, jeezus christ. This is just rediculous.
Bravo, great thread. Honestly, I've been waiting since the Wii was anounced, from when it was called the 'Revolution' for something big and all we get at E3 is a sequel to Animal Crossing that looks exactly the freakin' same. Does it even use the Wiimote, cause I certainly couldn't tell. I totally agree. Nintendo need to shut the hell up.
Hm i thought You said bye to them ages ago.
But i guess You can say bye as often as You like, right :)
Nintendo is still one big questionmark.
I'm a little uncertain about the wii's future as well.
The games will either be there or not and nobody knows.
Sure we know some titles, but not when or how they are.
I can't blame SW for growing skeptical.KungfuKitten
He's like that angry girlfriend who never gets back together with her ex but keeps ranting about how they broke up as if it just happened yesterday.
