OXM review confirms 10 hours worth of content for each episode of DLC. That is 20+ extra hours of game time.

I agree.. in US dollars I expect 10-20 dollar price tag. Anymore then that and they will probably loose out on alot of money.

10 Hours each is a fairly good chunk of game time by todays standards.

Stolen from a friend:

"In the review it says that Microsoft has confirmed that the DLC will be at least 10 hours long and that Rockstar's goal is to "fry the xbox live servers". - One mission consisting of an escort mission across the entire map with a locked car limited to 0.5mph"

Just a point; is this new areas or new missions? New areas I might bite above £5, new missions..no. I never finish the missions anyway.

So $90 for the whole thing on the 360? Ouch.

Though I guess I would get it in about a year after I got bored with the game, to give it some more length.

Nice try... but details have not been released at all on the DLC.. Rockstars word is good enough for me.. When Sam Houser says and I quote.

I would say more then likely new missions and story... Maybe some land mass.. Not sure pure speculation. All we know is that the DLC is 10+ hours each.

Dude, it's 20 hours of extra gameplay... after a 50+ hour campaign. Once I devote 2+ days of my life to one game, I think I'll be fine giving those 20 hours away to play something else.

Dont get me wrong, whoever wants DLC, that's great and fine. But you shouldnt call anybody else stupid for not wanting it, or wanting it enough to buy the 360 version over the PS3.

10 hours each episode seems pretty good to me. I just hope they don't go crazy with the pricing. Any more than $15 per episode and they can count me out.

I guess the mission you higlighted would take over an hour haha because rockstar said it takes half an hour to cross the whole city from north to south and with mission consisting 0.5 mph speed its going to take longer.

I think the bottom line CJ is that if you own both consoles, the DLC has to be a factor.

If you are the type of person that gets bored easily and wants something new after playing GTA. sure the DLC wont matter. But if you are the kinda person who enjoys good gameplay and stories and would like the game extended.. Then the DLC plays a factor.

The nice thing about the 360 version is you have a choice. The PS3 you do not.

if a guy owns both a 360 and PS3, choosing the PS3 version is beyond all logic.

Free online isnt a factor, the guy probably allready has Live gold. He owns a 360 so he is no overly paranoid about rrod. The 360 gives the option for 20+ hours of exclusive content.

SO for a 360/PS3 owner to pick the PS3 version is simply ignorant no matter how u slice it.

However if u only own a PS3 it is a different story. Im just talkin about dual console owners.

This seems dubious to me. Companies almost always overestimate the length of their games. I still remember when Nintendo said that Twilight Princess would last about 70 hours on the first playthrough. I beat it in just under 35 without rushing. I expect the DLC for GTA4 to fall well short of expectations as well.

The nice thing about the 360 version is you have a choice. The PS3 you do not.

I know but it's all about choice on which console you want to get it on too, right? I'm not saying it's not going to sway people into buying the 360 version, but it's not playing a factor with me... and I know I'm not the only one. But, I also know there are people out there opposite of me. I just dont see after playing GTA4 for 50 hours, I'm going to want more enough to buy it on my 360 instead of PS3. That's just me. If GTA was 100% exclusive to the 360, I'd buy it for sure, but that's about the only thing that would make me buy a multiplatform game on the 360 over the PS3.

And I hate to say this, because I'm not picking a fanboy fight, so please, if you have to, ignore this comment. My 360 has just been too faulty for me to want to even risk playing a game like GTA4 for hours upon hours on. That's another big reason I'm getting the PS3 version.

Like I said, I dont want to fight about RROD or failure rates with anyone, I dont have the time anyway. But that it a reason of my own.

well, actually, I'm going to play this for a very very very long time, DLC or not. I'd estimate 200+ hours. With this in mind, I'm going to get it for the console I am most comfortable with. That means interface and controller. I don't like the Xbox 360 interface (the profile and closed system just bugs the hell out of me and I've never found any game that implemented it in a way that took my fancy other than Halo) and I'm just more comfortable with the Playstation controller since I've owned a PS1, PS3 and a PS3. Also, from my experience, the d-pad on the Xbox 360 isn't very responsive (dunno if that's just me, or something about the controller).

Oh, and I don't mind waiting for DLC to come to the PS3, I'm patient and like to slo-burn my GTA games (I still play GTA2, GTA3, GTA Vice City and San Andreas even now).

It's getting DLC too, but it will be getting the same DLC the 360 gets, after the exclusive DLC stuff is out of the way on the 360. Basically, the PS3 wont get any DLC the 360 isnt getting.

For me, the DLC means nothing, unless its a new city or something. If its only some missions, i would not care at all getting it.

The multiplayer will keep me occupied..

5£ for 10 hours of gameplay is a steal! I finished Uncharted on hard in 7 hours. Now, THAT'S lame. Although, it was an awesome game (hopes for the save to work!)

[QUOTE="jangojay"]Eh wasn't the PS3 version getting its own DLC?NitaraPwnzU

No it wont get this DLC or any kind of console exclusive DLC. Rockstar has only mentioned that the episodic content will only be available on the 360

Actually, they mentioned that the PS3 will get its own DLC exclusives but haven't mentioned anything about what it is. They have mentioned that, instead of achievements, you get Home trophies but you also get Home gear for each trophy, like R* t-shirts in Home, or posters, or trailer for your apartment TV, etc..... They also mentioned a lobby area in the Home universe where you can meet other GTA4 players and jump into games straight from there. Contractually though, I don't think they can release the episodes from the Xbox 360 exclusive deal, but then again, R* is slippery with exclusives as we know from GTA3, VC and San Andreas. There is also the factor that the second Xbox 360 episode is scheduled for release by about Q1 2009 so I can't imagine any PS3 episodic content being released before then.

this will help make 360/PS3 owners think twice if their %^&*$ enough to pick the PS3 version

It's getting DLC too, but it will be getting the same DLC the 360 gets, after the exclusive DLC stuff is out of the way on the 360. Basically, the PS3 wont get any DLC the 360 isnt getting.

*cough* I don't think Microsfot payed all those tens of millions of dollars so that they would get some extra stuff a few months before Sony. No, njet, nei, non, NOO! The PS3 will have its own things, but nothing CLOSE to what the 360 is getting.

if a guy owns both a 360 and PS3, choosing the PS3 version is beyond all logic.

I'm a multi-console owner and i'm getting it for the PS3. I'm getting it for the PS3 because my friend is, and as far as i'm concerned Free roam mode with him is better than the DLC. While i think it will suck missing out on DLC i do hope to get hold of it someday, either by renting the 360 version or trading in the PS3 version after i'm done with the multiplayer and buying the 360 version then.

Point is don't go off calling people ignorant just because they choose the PS3 version, i'm sure they have their reasons.

You can use that reason if you want. See the thing is you have a choice. You own both. I can easily afford a PS3 but there just haven't been any games that interested me enough to buy one and justify the purchase. Maybe by the end of this year that will change. The PS3 has a few games that might interest me. That and I need a bluray player :D

Anyways my son and I each have a 360, so co-op play is a plus for us. It is called quality time and I can keep an eye on him when he is on xbox live.

His Xbox RROD 6 months ago. we both got ours shortly after launch. Mine on the other hand has not given me a bit of trouble in any game and trust me I have played games like oblivion and mass effect for hours and hours upon getting them.

But yes you can always factor in a problem with a console if you have both and that being your choice. For me I have always been a GTA fan. I owned a PS2 and an XBOX last gen so I am not anti-sony. Sonys price point factored in with no games that I was interested in keeps me from owning both consoles thus far this gen.
