Killzone 3 is 41.5 GB in size !!!

If there's one thing that says a lot about a game is the size, with Sony's next big title Killzone 3 releasing soon… Just how does it stack up?

Today at JPS headquarters we got quite the interesting package straight from Sony a prerelease copy of the upcoming title Killzone 3. Now the Killzone series has a lot going on from amazing graphics to a top ****online multiplayer. Fans who might have played the demo may recall a rather large download size, nearly 4 GB in size… So this brings up the question, just how big is Killzone 3? Its quite the understable question, most of the higher file size games are either top tier or have nearly endless things to do. some examples would be Metal gear solid 4, Uncharted 2, God of war 3 and the highest of all Final Fantasy XIII.

As our first of many topics to give you all the details on this powerhouse we are happy to announce that Killzone 3 is 41.5 GB making it just a little bit over XIII making it the largest current Playstation 3 title. This is quite a shock considering the last game in the series Killzone 2 clocked in with a respectable 12 GB! With this news though, I'm sure you have to be wondering if there's a data install. I mean most largest games have one, and you want something this nice to run perfectly right? Well we are happy to announce that Killzone 3 officially has NO data install and runs perfectly!

Port it to the 360....

It would take around 5 or 6 discs....

If there's no install, I'd imagine that a good bit of that is redundant code for it to run smoothly. Damn impressive, either way. That is a LOT of data.

K, but when devs aren't using blu-ray they don't have to use as much space for their games. On the PS3 you've got a bunch of repeated content to make up for a slow disk drive.

The best looking games on the PC don't even come close to 40gb downloads.

largest DD are MMOS which are above 20gb, so shouldnt be a problem, a FPS shouldnt be 40gbs, I dont know why they just dont compress the audio if thats the reason, i doubt most gamers wont know the difference or will even be able to take advantage of it

Nice response to piracy. 41gb for one game isnt even worth it. Should be an optional install though, I enjoy minimal loading.

People do it with TV series, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine pirates will do it for videogames.

Games are getting bigger whether it's on the PS3 or not, we really don't expect games to stay at 7 GBs on average forever do we?

and when I talk about DD I'm talking about DD only for console enthusiasts, if people want the option that's cool, I mean it's already started this gen on consoles.
