Churning out games? Wha? It's only been 1 year, the games out now were already in development BEFORE they made an ass of themselves. Let's not pretend they suddenly went all in on games development to right the ship.

They are resorting to price cuts to try and salvage market share, plain and simple. Which is also where the PS3 turned it around (in 2009 the PS3 slim came out and slashed the price to $299). However the PS3 did have a nice run of games from that point forward as well, whereas the 360 paled in comparison. The PS3 slim price cut was also a PERMANENT cut.

It will be interesting to see if MS sticks to the price cut being a "temporary" thing and tries raising it back to $399. When people are effectively paying $270 or even $250 for a video game console, it's almost impossible to put the genie back in the bottle. If they do, sales will collapse for sure. Honestly this is great for buyers, and I haven't even bought a next gen console yet. I would definitely jump on this XB1 deal but I don't know if I'm already getting a console for Christmas. I'll be kind of disappointed if I don't LOL since i could easily jump on this XB1 deal right now. Hopefully if I don't there will still be some sweet deals AFTER Christmas, because I know there's no way I'm paying "regular price" anymore.

MS and the Xbox One has/is always been the 2nd fastest selling console of ALL TIME. that's not doing bad, at all. the ps4 is just the the fastest one, by a few million. yes, i'm sure MS would rather be in Sony's position but they are not in a terrible position in this, at all. and with them already gaining a little ground and putting forth some redeeming qualities out to the public...their situation is looking better by the day, week, month. they are in no bad position...they're just in a position cows can nitpick at and pretend is a terrible position to be in. despite them being in a worst position MS/XB1 are in all of last gen with the ps3 lol.

MS has a successful console...a nice selection of games and exclusives...great console features and apps...and 1st rate online play and functionality. MS and the XBox One are in a good place right now. they are doing fine. they just need to keep it up and the console sales will come and help diig them out of 2nd place. because like most people are seeing the only thing Sony/ps4 has over the Xbox One right now, is sales and hype. that won't last forever. especially with MS consistently offering better everything else.

cows are just dumb. the xbox has a temporary 50 dollar price cut (and some nice bundles) for the holidays and ends on January 2nd so it isn't even a price cut. its a holiday sale. in Jan it goes back to 400 w/o kinect and 500 with kinect. There has been no actual price cut, they just made a kinectless SKU. Sony has had sales too (well bundles including 2 free games) happens every holiday on pretty much every item.

Of course it's normal for the holiday bundle thing, but MS has been pretty aggressive (if not desparate) this holiday. It's crazy they still have Assassin's Creed Bundles and are pushing them now with $70 additional discount. Right now, almost a month after black Friday and they are still pushing Assassin's Creed consoles for $349 PLUS an additional $70 in gift cards back (effectively making the consoles + 2 games only $279). Not sure we've seen that before. Basically they NEED this discount to compete with the PS4. If they go back to $399 for the base console their monthly market share will be even worse than it was before - because they've already pulled forward buyers with their aggressive promotions. New buyers won't be there if they roll back the promotions. It's already been proven that all other things being equal (price), the PS4 is dominating market share.

again its still only a 50 dollar price drop. the bundle being at 349 instead of 399 is a 50 dollar discount through the holidays. it goes away in January. Bundles are supposed to have free games. Sony did the 2 game bundle (which i still see on shelves and is still available) just without the 50 dollar discount. The gift card was a retailer discount that is being matched by other retailers. Yes the deals are awesome, and its clearly helping them move consoles. 1.2 million in a month is impressive. So its working.

History has shown that people buy the cheaper console usually and most people could really care less about Sony or MS or exclusives. If both are priced the same, I think you'll see similar sales numbers, but we'll find out next year. And no it hasn't been proven that priced the same , Sony dominates because that's never even been a scenario we've seen yet.

Last gen, Nintendo (the cheapest) dominated followed by the 360 (which was cheaper and had a year head start) and Sony was far behind in 3rd. Eventually at the end Sony and MS were pretty much tied after the slims and price drops and such and Nintendo held its lead. This gen, Nintendo pretty much has gone a whole different direction then MS and Sony. I mean they usually do but this time they are way different of a machine. Sony launched 100 dollars cheaper and MS had a lot of bad press. We've never seen both MS and Sony launch at the same time at the same price to make an assessment like you just did. But history has proven that the cheaper console usually wins in sales.
