$100 million and it comes with AA batteries .

Microsoft is brilliant.

XVision84

I bet one of the biggest reasons MS put AA batteries in their controller was to finally get their new Instaload battery installation technology out on the market. They sank a lot of money into it and talk about it all the time, yet it still isn't mainstream yet. If they can use it in a mass produced product then they will have a much better chance of making it standard in the marketplace, if they do corner the market with Instaload, they could make billions.

DS4 is for people with "girly" hands???

That was one of the lems biggest complaints, that the DS3 was too small.

It looks like the X1 gets the small controller for "girly" handed people this time.

So for all you week handed lems that couldn't handle a DS3, you may be in trouble.

At least I think they got rid of the proprietary cable.

NTSC-U

xbone controller is huge, more room to put all those cheetos stains and crust all over

That touch-pad on the DS4 is a lot of room to put all those mustard stains all over it!

You keed crying about me dodging something when I didn't even try to answer your argument, just made an observation. But okay, let's go down that road.

Your argument = destroyed.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/10/16/wii-u-pro-controller-boasts-80-hour-battery-life

80 hours. Yeah, batteries have come a very long way since 2005. AA batteries, not so much.

Bu-bu-but.. recharging! Talk about a f*ckin non-issue  Bu-bu-but cable is short! Just connect it to your damn PC or laptop when not using them and voila! Always playing with a charged battery! Unless of course you play for some 8-10 hours straight everyday lol

Ah the wonders of technology! If only Sony and Nintendo would share their secrets to the world!!

Desmonic

Your stupidity astounds me. We are talking about the PS4 and X1, not the Wii U. And I have 2500mah rechargeable batteries. My point stands (as does your ignorance). I am clearly talking to a kid with your "butthurt" and "crying" comments. You kids are funny how you think everybody has the same mentality as you and gets upset over games. Fact is, if I am playing a game with a controller that takes batteries, all I have to do is pause and change the batteries and continue to stay wireless. If you are playing a game on the PS4 controller, you have to buy a second controller in order to stay wireless. This isn't my opinion, it is a fact.

QQ more. "Facts" lol

Like I said, a kid. Nothing to say, so QQ more is your response. amusing. And lol at the fact all you wish, they still remain facts.

Or he could just get a job so he doesn't play so long as to where his controller dies in the first place. They stay charged for a very long time. But if nine tenths of your life is spent with a gamepad in your hand, you might run into problems.

Or unlike you kids, I have a family. A family that also plays the PS3 and doesn't always plug the controller back in. But an idea like that clearly went over your head and was too hard to think of. But this is SW, so I would be a fool to expect much.

An oversimplification. They also created new production lines. I don't imagine that they are cheap. That's not including focus group and testing, plus any R&D (yes, minor changes require R&D).

I'm waiting on the Xbox One controller to get PC support, and then I'll buy one for myself for a few choice games I have that could use a controller.

Everything about it is an improvement over the 360 controller, and it just looks amazing.

What's widely considered the stand-out improvement, as detailed here, is the Impulse triggers. Alam and his team have shrunk rumble motors down to about one eighth of their previous size and scattered several of them across the pad, allowing for more subtle force feedback in localised parts of the controller.

In one FPS-style demo CVG played, firing a virtual pistol with the controller's right trigger resulted in simulated recoil occurring on just that part of the controller. In another demo, which had the same virtual hand magically spawn a fire ball, you could 'feel' the explosive projectile explode from the centre of the controller and out towards your fingers.

CVG

That's pretty boss. Will definitely consider getting one to use with my PC down the line.

LOL , i mean seriously... big companies are like government... departments always come up with exagerrated project, present it like its the next big thing, then sales talking and demand for unreasonable bloated budgets... and came up (if they do come up) with a measly output that common sense can make up under 15 min.

seen so many projects like this in my company which is run by gullible greedy idiots.

I have no idea why non removable batteries are seen as a good thing.

The way some people talk in here makes it sound like MS didn't have the tech to do it like that, even though some random chinese company can do it just fine. Is a design choice and between removable and non removable I would obviously pick the first.

Apparently making light of that little fact is enough to be classified an apologist so you tell me.

oh so you were 'making light of it' that old chestnut, it had nothing to do with my OP but thats ok, I'm done with it :)

Your OP said "still using AA batteries in 2013, don't be an apologist" and i gave a (anecdotal sure) scenario were an option of AA batteries in a controller would've been much more convenient.

So yes, it did have something to do with your OP. And if you think i'm lying about my DS3 (why would you) i can easily post a vid of it in all its "not working anymore" glory.

I have to know, where does the "sheens" name come from?

So what are you doing for gaming then? Just sticking with what you got, going PC only, or just waiting to see what comes?

Oh, you also forgot Kinect, stick placement, games, power brick, looks like a VCR, paywall, the mystical cloud, and the NSA will install a tracking device in you if you by one, I know I must of missed a few there (sorry it's hard to keep track.)

I personally dont buy recharchable batteries....last i looked (which admittedly was a few years ago), they generally give out 1.2 or 1.3V not the 1.5V that most equipment i use requires. for heavy use, using recharchabables isn't recommended.

i have R/C car & aircraft, so always have AA batteries in for the transmitters, plus my son has loads of toys which run on AA.

ive got Wii so i know the inconvenience of regularly buying an AA batteries, sorting dead ones from working ones and disposing them. i bough an alkaline charger for it. basically a third party power source aside from the grid is pretty unreliable imo. were as a recharcheable controller can be easily transformed into wired controller without the hassle of storing, carrying, monitoring, disposing, individually charging it like an AA does.

Many rechargeable batteries suck, and many battery chargers suck, many of the cheaper chargers damage the batteries. In the long run if you have to deal with Ni-MH rechargeable batteries you should go with the best, they're expensive but it's worth it.

I don't need them for my controller, but one of my cameras sucks down AA's fast and a friend of mine has some great batteries that last two to three times longer then mine, if I needed them for my controller I would've bought this setup already. Anyway this is the setup I would recommend. Batteries / Charger

In another demo, which had the same virtual hand magically spawn a fire ball, you could 'feel' the explosive projectile explode from the centre of the controller and out towards your fingers.

That's pretty boss. Will definitely consider getting one to use with my PC down the line.

I think this is one of the first posts that actually addressed what the new controller can dofor immersion and feedback. Not a mention of "money wasted", "100 Million" or "lol AAs" anywhere.

It shows just how good the 360 controller really was compared to the competition when all cows got is "buh buh buh AA batteries". I don't see the problem with AA batteries, i always have them in the house, since we use them in other equipment. IMO changing a couple of batteries once a month is far more preferable to me than having to plug the controller in, or put it back in a specific place every day.sts106mat

No it actually show how MS plan to rip off people again is not having double AA the problem,is not having 2 damn rechargeable ones that MS could pack in with and that could be charge with the same damn controller and a cable.

MS has no vision xbox live look stale, using the same crappy tactics of last gen to,hidding everything under it,now even DVR is hidden, fact is yet again the new xbox is a console to print money and abuse suckers like you.

You really think MS is staffed exclusively by shysters and criminals but Sony only hires hires saints and good Samaritans? Sony can really do no wrong in your eyes.

Though I agree with the AA situation, why can't you comment on hwo the controller has been improved? The Impulse triggers don't sound great to you?

even though I'm not getting an Xbox dOne its funny to watch sheens nitpick they only have 3 issues left.
Price, Power, AA batteries.

Each one Nitpicky and means absolutely nothing in the long wrong.

Oh please you will get one you are just to ashame to admit it.

Price, power and rip off are important issues of a console,in fact the $100 more price while been weaker will make that PS4 fly off the shelf,is the reason why pre-orders look so one sided in favor of the PS4..

Lets compare.

PS3.

Online free

controller with rechargeable batteries.

Apps no hidden under a pay wall.

PC HDD support for the best prices possible.

xbox 360.

$60 for online play.

Apps like netflix hidden under a pay wall.

Propietary and over priced HDD.

Propietary and ultra expensive wifi adapter.

No rehcageable batteries.

Don't know how good or bad inpulse trigger will be,since i will not get an xbox one for a long time, but i have see several sites actually loving the PS4 controller even more than the xbox one.
