It ´s a launch price. It will be much lower by the end of the year. ;)
jhonMalcovich
I don't think it will be lower enough :| I wanna upgrade my PC for Next generation but 600 or even just 300 for a graphics card is too much.

Black Friday :P or tech monday i believe it was called.
Yep. Check the lowest fps and average. Those are the one that matter, that deliver consistent fps rate.jhonMalcovichYeah, indeed. Crazy stuff.

I'd rather get a GTX 660 which is $200-$260, spending over $350 let alone $649 for a GC is just too pricey.
jhonMalcovich
It has a double performance though and will last at least twice as long. If you go for 660 now you will have to upgrade in an year and half, you will have to buy another 250$ card. 2*250 = 500$. Not that cheep in comparison to 780. Besides it will fall in price by christmass.
A 660 will do the job for me for a good 5 years and will be a major upgrade from my 550. The 660 will still be a good GC for Star Citizen when it comes out and that's all that matters to me. At the most I'd get a 670 atm but a 660 would not only allow me to upgrade my GC I could also upgrade my processor as well (which also needs an upgrade). I mean hell I could almost have a decent PC built for $650.
Ladies and gentlemen, Nvidia GTX 780 outperforms Titan and costs half as cheep, $649.
jhonMalcovich
It's beautiful.
The price is still quite a bit higher than what I would be comfortable paying, but the good news is that means that the 680 is due for a price drop soon! I certainly wouldn't mind dropping in a second one to run in SLI until the price on the 780 goes down-- I will want to check some benchmarks, though, obviously. If the 780 can outperform a dual 680 setup or at least come close, I might sell my current 680 on fleabay and put the cash towards a 780, since a single GPU is generally preferable to two (especially because of power and heat, but also because some games are fussy about dual GPU setups).
According to other sources, the Titan beats the 780 but they are within 10% of each other
lostrib
You should check only low and average fps in the benchmarks because only those are real performance indicators.
And according to Gamespots´s benchmarks
GTX780 ourperformed Titan in
Metro Last Light
Batman Archam City
Tomb Raider
Titan ourperformed GTX780 by a very low margin in
Bioshock Infinite
Battlefield 3
And almost had a draw in Crysis 3.
I would give the triumph to GTX780 because of the newer tech and lower price tag.
[QUOTE="Puckhog04"]
Every one of those cost more than a single next gen console, no doubt.
jhonMalcovich
Who cares !!! 1600p resolutions !!! Yeeeh
I'm sure 1600p Monitors look really nice. I've owned 1440p Monitors in the past, but the only problem I had with them was them being stuck at 60hz. For some games 60 hz was fine, but playing a FPS on it was horrible it was just not what i would call smooth.

Tomshardware and techpowerup have the titan ahead in almost all those games, but not by a lot (<10fps). And obviously for the price the 780 is a better deal. Although, don't they use the same tech as the 780 is a cut down titan

I would say 780 is an optimized version of Titan. So even with lower specs, it performs almost the same.

Nvidia makes weird choices. They did a similar thing with the 680 and 670 which were different by like only 5%, but obviously the 680 cost more. This situation is worse as the price descrepancy between 780 and titan is even larger
I build a next gen PC in a year or two no point getting one now because gtx 780 be much cheaper by then and amd next gen cards be out and be cheaper.robbie80yeah i can't believe that one guy was like "why wait for tech" that doesn't even make sense
[QUOTE="razgriz_101"]didnt know that games soley run off a GPU. besides could buy a wii u and either an MS or Sony console for that kinda money, and if you play games its more bang for buck and this gen your gonna miss out less on consoles consdering the x86 architecture porting will be an absolute doddle for devs.jhonMalcovich
Benchmark PC specs were quite average, by the way. I5 with 8 GB of RAM. 5 year old specs basically.
I don't know if you're aware of what PCs were like 5 years ago, but you might want to look at a comparison vs. the 3570K in the benchmark system: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ivy-bridge-wolfdale-yorkfield-comparison,3487.htmlI'm still good for another year. Though I can't wait to see what Nvidia's Maxwell based cards will be capable of.
I'll even consider an AMD card if the performance is there, though there are rumours that the 8000 series may be knocked into next year so it will be intresting to see what they do with the '9000' series which would be the real competition for Nvidia's 800 series cards.

Xbox has games ?! :o I thought it´s a netflix box.
Next gen consoles are just so far behind this time.
January 2004 - 22 months before xbox360 release there wasn't a GPU setup that could even come close to the xbox360 performance.
November 2005 - xbox360 released. (still thee is no pc gpu is better than xbox360 gpu)
January 2012 - released a single GPU (HD7970GHz) that performs 2 times better than ps4 GPU. (I don't even gone to compare the xboxOne GPU LOL)
November 2013 - ps4 released. (22 months late and half the performance).
next gen consoles are so irrelevant this time, I don't even know why they are exist.

Try again.wow that costs more than the entire PS4 lol and Killzone SF is still the best looking real time game shown to date.
do i need to show you metro LL on pc , or how about crysis 1 which was released back in 2007 ?wow that costs more than the entire PS4 lol and Killzone SF is still the best looking real time game shown to date.

Please dont show me an ugly generic linear shooter with bad animation. Or a 2007 game that can run on sleep mode on PS4.
KZ SF looks by far better.

You're funny dude :lol:BS. 7800 GTX was more powerful than the 360's GPU when it launched. 7900 launched immediately after and beat it by a good margin. Only reason they're so close this time is they're going with x86 architecture favoring dev accessibility over performance.Next gen consoles are just so far behind this time.

Yep, they buy this powerful hardware for games that don't exist. My 480s from 2010 will still run the games just as good and I got the card in 2010. The reason to upgrade PCs all the time has died down, its console game era ports now.Number of games that will take full advantage of this card: Nil.
