Dominated by the digital space.

Free to play and e-sport scene growing exponentially.

Brings in 3/4 of the software market vs consoles, will bring in MORE than consoles by 2014.

What do you guys think? Accurate? Off their rocker? Somewhere in between?

Probably true because for DD you don't need to pay for anything but the servers the data is stored on.

I think they are not talking about casual/social games.

It's under 3/4 of the console market just tkaing the core PC gmaing audience: Retail and digitla sales of games + MMOS's. At least right now.

It always cracks me up when haters say PC GAMING IS DYING!!!! When its only getting stronger! Digital Download sales are HUGE now.

It'd be great if it were to indeed happen, but part of me doesn't see it . If it were to happen, however, the market would see some large benefits in terms of gaming technology.

Personally, I don't know about it catching up to console by 2014.

PC gmaing has been growing, and will continue to grow, but I think the new consoles will drop by end of 2013 and PC will go back down for at elast a couple of years, then start picking up steam again..

Or in other words, the same cycle that has always been will continue, I think this time PC will remain larger though.

The BIg change will be social and casual gaming on PC. It's going to dwarf the consoles (and "core" PC gaming) 10 times over.

Sounds about right. Everything they say makes sense.

I think M$ knows this aswell. You can see it in that trash Windows 8. Its funny because you can see the ideas of M$ with each OS. They made it clear they wanted PC gaming dead and moved to xbox (Vista). They failed and brought out Win7 which is then good for games and M$ start investing back into PC gaming. Now Win8 is gaming focused....

By 2010's data this is really possible, if you look at the whole pc marketshare, it is bigger than the consoles, well consoles sales have dropped, pc sales did something like almost double from 09 to 10

I think they are not talking about casual/social games.

I think the casual market is going to take over and games like Farmville, Angry Birds will be the reason why. I also think Nvidia need to realise that the days of £300 graphic cards are numbered especially in a recession.Consoles will be around for a good while yet and I fully expect the next generation of consoles to be even more PC like with the services they offer, you only have to look at Windows 8 to see how the landscape is changing. I honestly think the 2012 Xbox update or the next genxbox will get a console Windows 8 version that offers internet access. This Bing integration is just the first step towards a vocal internet search.

With micortransactions in facebook games and free to play, it doesn't surprise me. As for Nvidia, they say this becasue they want it to happen. They think saying it might make it come true.

This is exaclty why PC is going to get bigger. Any standard laptop will be able to display graphics equal or etter than a console, with IGPs getting etter all the time. Many owners of said laptops will consider consoles superfluous.

I remember HPs AMD APU based $600 laptop selling over 1 million units and those systems are pretty entry level gaming. Before a laptop for that much wouldn't get you jack.
