Watching the vid and as far as I can see its not bad but its nothing to rave on about.
And it doesn't look anyware near as good as this pic:

Looks good, but some parts of the trailer looked like crap.Like when they shwed the women face and then she took at the two pistols. She look like a model from a xbox gm.
Who wants to bet Bungie is gonna come out and say this E3 footage is from a build months old?
Honestly, it does looks like Halo 2, but that doesn't stop it from being impressive game play wise.
I'm thinking Half Life 2 is going to have a run for its money. A new king in the single player department is arriving.

This is pretty close to that.
Hail to This Chief
(July 2007)
LoL I have looked at the screens and trailer.Soo... i'm seeing two entirely different looks on the game so far. People have either said "best graphics yet" or "meh"
Go to Bungie.net, download the HD trailer, look at the new screens. This game extremely impressive.
nowakawon
I repeat its not the most graphically impressive game by a mile.
Crysis, Bioshock, COD4, WiC and Haze - to name a few - look better.
The gameplay footage looks very cool though.

Na HL2 has noting to worry about.
My honest opinion? it looks like crap compared to games like Mass Effect, AC and COD4.
Totally underwhelming.:(

You keep telling yourself that.
copy this screen and look at it in full size, now how does that not look pretty freaking good? Lighting is great.
I agree with others though, Call of Duty 4 stole the show, and the funny part is that CoD4 runs at 60fps on the 360! It's the best looking and it runs twice as fast as all the other shooters. God I love Infinity Ward!!!
CoD4 is now my most wanted game of 07.

Agreed.I mean its been 3 years and HL2 hasent been surpassed in SP.
With Ep1 and Ep2 now on the horizon, I somehow doubt even Crysis will beat HL2 slick SP.
That game is freaking amazing.....
Best SP since HL1 no question.
I was hoping after i watched the video in 720p i would be blown away but im still not impressed. I didnt feel anything. There was some cool battle scenes. Things seemed alittle choppy at times to. In all honesty. At some parts it felt like halo2 and looked like halo2.
Killfox
Very underwhelming.foxhound_fox
I couldn't agree more, that was basically my exact reaction in the MS E3 conference thread as it aired live.
Yeah, and it's name is Crysis.Who wants to bet Bungie is gonna come out and say this E3 footage is from a build months old?

Crysis looks good. We get it. But that's all its got on Halo.

Im guessing you still havent read up on the gameplay at all. Even though we keep telling you to. Better yet. Reads some of the previews. Watch the new video that have come out. That impressed me more than this trailer by miles and then some.

Crysis did not have anything remotely cinematic to Halo 3.
One huge giant walker?
Have fun with your great graphics. Oh wait, I'll have fun with it too. Love my computer :)
But unlike you, I will be enjoying the best FPS in a long time. And it's name is Halo 3.

I wouldn't be talking if I were you. I've already got a beast of a computer to handle things beyond Crysis. While you're next upgrade is probably up to 2 gigs, I'm waiting 'til Vista recognizes my 4 gigs, which it probably never will.
If Crysis looked exactly like Far Cry graphically speaking, you wouldn't be hyping it. At all.
I've read all the previews, I've seen all the videos to prove their points. I'm still not excited. And I'm more of a PC gamer than you'll ever be.

Yeah ill have that chose to.
Just want to get this in quick before all the bickering starts: Halo has always been about the community and gameplay for me. LANing HCE up with 15 buddies in a house and owning. Graphics matter, and H3 graphics are sick, but the gameplay owns and Halo 3 feels (i played the beta) like HCE which is exactly what I wanted. H2 dropped the ball and H3 is picking it back up and running in for the TDseabiscuit8686
That is exactly how I feel. But honestly, the graphics are amazing...the lowres feed did not properly show the game off.
Watched the HD version, Looks nice and all, some parts were pretty meh(I was hoping the humans would look much better).
Strange that some of the new multiplayer screens look much better than the singleplayer stuff. :?
Gameplay seems awesome though, I look forward to playing it.
Anyone think the live action short hurt the trailer? Get everyone's expactions throught the roof, then show gameplay.Bansheesdie
From a film buff's perspective, that short film was utter crap. Neil Blommkamp is not the person to direct the Halo franchise. Look what he just did. He turned the feel of Halo into some generic trash. Not good.

Exactly what I was thinking. Some of that just literally looked like Halo 2.
But look at the water fall at the beginning of the trailer. Looks worse than the MP Public Beta's Valhalla waterfall. And we all know that build wasn't the latest one.
I'm thinking Bungie just showed footage from old builds. I really don't care, but when you think about it, it makes sense. There was a lot of stuff in that trailer. And they couldn't have done all of that in the new builds which only seem weeks old.
But I don't care. This game looks epic.

Best FPS since HL2?Well Crysis, Bioshock, UT3, HL2 Ep2 and Halo 3 - Hell even Haze for Ps3 owners look great.
My money is still on Crysis as the favourite, followed by Bioshocks amazing SP, and UT3's amazing MP.
Halo 3 is somwhere im between, but its looking more positive after this E3 showing.
My hunch is that Crysis will nuke almost everything though. Its going to be amazing considering Far Cry was done with a 30 man dev team, and the final chapters (and mp) pretty much sucked. And it was their first game :P
*Just watched the HD version on Bungie.net* OMG this game is going to kick ass.TyrantDragon55
Yes, the HD version is MUCH better and it looks AMAZING....I WISH I COULD PRINT SCREEN THE VIDEO

Haha, thanks. For the laugh. Anyways, cinematic, you say? These Hunters come in FIVE different forms and vary in size. It is the second largest enemy in the game. These guys walk around just as commonly as combine soliders do in City 17. Cinematic, you say? There is air, sea, and land combat. Air craft carriers. Real-time nukes. Earthquakes, tidal waves, tsunamis, blizzards. There is a 2KM high space ship covered in rock. Vast oceans. Mountain ranges. Rail road stations.Cinematic, you say? Crysis defines cinematic gameplay.
Why did you pick such a low res old screen shot of Crysis to compare to Halo 3? Oh well it doesn't even matter as that screen still makes Halo 3 look like a pile of dog crap
Apparently you don't get it liquid, many lemmings have been saying for months Halo 3 will match or beat Crysis graphically when we now know the two games don't even look like they are from the same generation honestly.
And Graphics are more then meets the eye, you've likely seen the major role that a more complex environment brings to the game. From little things like seeing enemy movement through the jungles foiliage to rolling over buildings with a tank to chain gunning down a forest those are the kind of cool things enhanced visuals bring to Crysis you won't be able to experience.
They may not sound like that big of deal on paper, but I think we all know that when games go farther in the inner workings of graphics with advanced physics and what not it really makes a HUGE difference in the gameplay like it has done in games like Half-life 2 and what not making them all the more special, immersive and overall more fun. Face it more advanced graphics opens the window for a richer gameplay experience in so many ways.
Well, if that is any inkling of what the Halo movie will be like, then I am pretty stoked. But really, I thought the gameplay was good.22Toothpicks
The gameplay is going to be better then ever. More animations, smarter, they act more like a team, they actually are a team this time.

Then upgrade your sig, and I hope toGodthat you're using your rig for more than gaming.
In any case, just because we all have super rigs doesn't mean we automatically have better games. Half Life: Episode 2 will be a billion times better than anything Crytek can pull off.
I did not think they were going to show it there for awhile, lol. It looked alright, but nothing extraordinary by any means. I did not have high expectations, and from what they showed only confirms exactly why Halo 3 is not even in my list of top 10 wanted games, even though I DO want it for the sake of finishing the story. As I dig Halo, and look forward to playing Halo 3, but Halo itself is just over as far as my preferences go. I am much more excited for shooters like COD 4, which looks like it is going to be intensely killer.
As for the press conference itself, I thought it pretty much blowed. The highlights of the show in my opinion were all multiplats. Namely, Assassin's Creed, which looks unbelievable, RE5, and COD4. And the only one of those three that I plan on picking up for the 360 is COD 4, as I own a PS3 as well. Speaking of which, I fully expect Sony to thoroughly spank Microsoft tomorrow.
It looks better than I thought it would, and that hd vid was ace. Ofc some games look better than it, but im more than happy with this.

It looks far worse then I thought it would, there actually seems to be zero difference between the single and multiplayer.

This game launches in 2 months....2 months!! I mean my thoughts are exactly the same as yours (and the person you quoted) except for the fact that it could be stuff from old builds. There is no other shows....this is the last hype machine for Halo 3. Don't hold back now at all times.
