Most hermits are dismissing Half Life 2 and going with the prettier game, just like Doom 3. It's just so funny they're doing it over and over again.

I bet you with everythign I own, Beowulf, you wouldn't look twice at this game if it didn't have all that flashiness in front of it. Hell, when you tout about how evolutionary Crysis is in defence, which is why you're hyping it, I sometimes wonder why you've never heard of Penumbra: Overture.

Then again, I don't expect much from most hermits.

And yes, lems do flock over to Halo. It's like leagues above all other games. But with a plethora of other games out there, why just Crysis? Why just the Witcher? It's a shame, hermits try to be different, but they're only doing what the lems and cows do except they have better rigs (most of the time).

Far Cry vs HL2 or Doom 3 is entireley opinion based. Who says I cant hype one over the other? What I have to hype one? I was looking foward to all 3 in 04', but HL2 was on the top of my list. Its the same nowdays with GeOW and Halo. Xbox fanboys are divided on what they rather. Now they have choice, like PC fps gamers, not one single shooter to hype on. Hell with COD4, UT3 and Bioshock thats even more choice for XBox fanboys to chew on.

There are plenty of great shooters comming out on both platforms, and guess what, lems are hyping their fps exclusive Halo 3, and PC gamers are hyping their fps exclusive Crysis.

And loads of PC gamers still like Far Cry. Its still highly regarded......

What gives?

Doesnt mean it was a bad game. There are many games that are not as good as HL2 but it doesnt mean they werent an amazing exerience in itself.

Soo... i'm seeing two entirely different looks on the game so far. People have either said "best graphics yet" or "meh"

Go to Bungie.net, download the HD trailer, look at the new screens. This game extremely impressive.

I knew about Penumbra back when its demo was originally released..... Before it was anywhere near retail.

And no i havent searched it on GS, hell I didnt even know it was reviewed.... If so, I doubt it would have gotten an 8... Probably A... I'll have to check it out.

And cant you hack that people preffer certain genres over others? Some people might be exited over Uru online for all we know.

I have my own likes and dislikes, and just because I may rather an FPS over Runaway 2, or The Witcher, dosent mean dont like the games, or appreciate the genre.

my opinion is halo is the best console FPS

idk about PC FPS, ever since halo i never really play am anymore, but i hear there are a couple to contend that spot.

oh and halo 3 looks amazing, alot better than alot of other games on consoles, if anybody says so otherwise they are being a blind fanboy. i still think killzone 2 might have better graphics, i mean PS3 has all that power it needs a game thats really really good looking.

but halos graphics style i think saved it, i mean halo has always been friggin cartoony compared to other shooters. that is its style, not realistic!

Ive never liked the series. MP is overrated. Literally a mentally retarded person could get good at it. I lose interest very fast. SP was terrible. Im talking about halo2. I enjoyed halo the original.

There are many games I want on the 360 and I have been wanting to get a 360 for along time. In fact I was gonna buy one but wasn't able to cause the bank was closed and I had no cash on me and my debt card limit wasn't high enough at that time.

Well I was hyped for Halo CE, after following the saga that was its development - and I was quite underwhelmed, buy enjoyed it.

I was relativley exited that Halo 2 would deliver alot to the table (i rember reading destructible enviroments in OXM (crappy aussie one) ) And it was a real kick in the guts in some areas - in how average it was.

Halo 3 has got me quite exited - not as much as when Halo CE was due - but after that E3 vid, it looks like good fun to play. I just dont want to get too wound up in the hype, as ive been kicked in the shins twice by Bungie.

I agree. Gears was overrated. Yes it still deserved AAA but not a 9.6. I will give halo3 a try. I just feel like i will be under whelmed when i play it. I like more grit and realism.Killfox

Ive watched it 3 times now on XBL ,and ive gotta say, its looks fun, but soo similar to Halo 2 - gameplay wise.

IM hoping its better paced, and the story isnt butchered like 2's.

Never the less it looks fun to play.

As for Halo wars... The Halogen mod looked much better :lol:

I dont simply bash it, im more of a pessimist, and I 'dare to be sceptical about it' as like I said before Bungie have 'kicked me in the shins twice'.

If you meant that I was bashing on Halo becuase the visual 'downgrade' thats true, im annoyed at that - its almost as bad as the Killzone E3.

Its also becuase the Halo fanboys on these forums are quite rampant, and sometimes someone needs to give em a slap with a wet fish.

As for this change of heart, well im looking more foward to Halo 3 now, after seeing some actual gameplay. Yes its visuals arent 'all that' but I was expecting that. The gameplay looks fun, and thats what im looking foward to.

What did it for me was the Warthog combat - particularly the Warthog with the extra seating spaces at the back - and rollcage. That and the mongoose combat.

All that outdoor african plains combat looked great, come to think of it.

And the funny thing is, its releasing a day after my birthday :P 18th and Halo 3 ftw :D

As for me bashing Halo - It depends what thread :P

If someone says its the 'best looking game', or a 'revolutionary series' i'd be on the attack. The same if some one called it a better series than Half Life ;)

I dont simply bash it, im more of a pessimist, and I 'dare to be sceptical about it' as like I said before Bungie have 'kicked me in the shins twice'.

Lol, now thats awesome. But yeah, what I'm most hyped for is how big and open the levels are supposed to be. I mean I loved Halo, and...liked halo 2, but enough hallways god damnit!

What I can't wait for though is to ride the brute chopper, it just looks and feels so... like a vehicle in halo should feel like.

I hope there is a mix up in air vehicles this time round, as the banshee is now a tad overused :P

And as for the level design, I hope to god there is less corridors, and use of the same enviroments copied and pasted like in 1 and 2. Its nice to see the wide open outdoors... Lets just hope Bungie retains the 'wide open' part :P

I also hope Chief isnt 'floaty' when he jumps - thanks to earths gravity. That always annoyed me a little :P

I never really liked how they cheif moved around in the games, I love how they describe him in the novels, I acctually prefer reading the books than playing the games, I was never intrested in Halo until I read fall of reach.

It says in the books he can run in sprints almost as fast as a cheatah, and they spartans are really a lot about stealth and teamwork. But in the game...well he runs like pansy, and jumps like a fairy. Plus its impossible (almost) to try to be 'sneaky' or 'stealthy' in Halo. But I still enjoy the games nontheless.

But I feel the master cheif in the books, and the master chief in the game, are almost two different people entirely.

Yea I agree with you on chiefs movement, he feels slow and floaty, not nimble and quick - or stealthy at all. Which really sucks, as I havent read the books - but have read the comics, and you would think that such power armour would allow these super human feats.

Yeah, I personally think the game is great... but if it was how he was described n the books, and on the PC, I think the game could be 100x better. And there probable more charater development with the chief in the first 20 pages of any of the books, than there is in Halo 1 and 2 combined. Although in 3, at least from the new trailer, he looks to be very war weary, and A LOT more pissed off!

But I see why they would, 'slow down' the gameplay, it acctually makes it quite enjoyable compared to most shooters where your always on glued to she screen and on the edge.I'd hate to admit it too, but I've never really played Half Life.. except one time at school, I was playing the first one, I got the suit, then I went to start the big machine, it started going all haywire, and then my teacher turned off the computer lol. But I didn't realize his suit made him capable of all that stuff. I always pictured him as a lame scientist with a crowbar...

I should definately pick up the orange box.

The lighting and brutes character modelslook absolutely incredible; the gameplay looks amazing too. Howeve, overall graphically... it just looks ok. The best parts of the trailer (graphically) was in the dark room and the cracks of light/ the lights of the warthog.

Killzone 2 looks reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaally good too! I was really impressed by its visuals

But if you can get it on PC.

You will get Counter Strike Source with it, HL2 Death Match and be able to get all the AWESOME mods out there.

Not to mention Black Mesa Source - which is the entire HL1 game, re-made with HL2 visuals and physics :D

you know what i just realized? Play the video again. Pause it at every scene that has a HUD. The game looks incredible in those areas.

the non-hud areas of the game (most of them i mean) just look ok. Perhaps they're cutscenes?

When you have the time, do the thing i stated in the post above yours (pausing the areas in the trailer that have a HUD) - and really examine those parts. THOSE areas look pretty freaking incredible. maybe thats why teamxbox was sating how amazing the graphics are?
