Resident Evil 4 continues to sell strong. It did an additional 90k for this month putting it's total to 250k in the US only. Capcom prediction we're 420k worldwide, so If you count the 100k sales in Japan + probably even more in Europe, the game has already met expectations and will far exceed it. Good news for future RE titles and hardcore games on the console.

Also, Mario Strikers Charged sold more than 100k in only 5 days.

For some reason I was still expecting to see the GBA take out the PS3. But over 150k. That's great. Just a little behind the 360 but that'll change by next month for sure. hotdaisy18

Yup, the PS3 is going to fall even further behind. With the XBox 360 price drop, Madden 08 & Bioshock on retail shelves, the 360 is going to sell a lot of systems in August. After that we know what comes in Sept. ;)

Expect the number of PS3s sold in Europe to decrease over the coming months as cheaper HD-DVD players are released and Warner studios pull a Paramount on the Blu-ray format.

Wii not doing too bad in units sold, but their software sales still need to improve. They only sold 57,000 Madden 08 in one week, while the 360 sold 880,000+. NPD is a real business that tracks National Product Data on tens of thousands of products and has been in business for decades. They are a research and data firm that provides all sorts of product data to marketing and other research organizations including plenty of companies that engage them to track specific products. Gaming is a wee tiny, tiny part of their business.

You can also subscribe to a number of their data offeings which means you get the data before anyone else.

In short, a real medium sized business not some freak fanboys on a website.

The Wii software sales are good too. If you're going to be comparing them to big sellers like Halo 3, then of course the numbers will pale in comparison. Mario Party is still in the top 10 for the NPD. So don't try to minimize that.

As for Madden, the 360 version is selling well. We'll see if the Wii version can make an impact or not. There are more to sales than just first week sales.

If so you fail to see my point, Sony targeted for the PS3 sales to double in July NPD, and that they did. 360 outselling ps3 by 11k doesn't "hurt", sure you can claim ownage on this insignifigant number but you are missing the point which is that PS3 sales doubled. 11k is equivalent to 1.75 days of sales for ps3(in US)...

As for the next few months, 360 will dominate(in America at least) thanks to Halo 3. Once the new year sets in though and MGS4, KZ2(granted, if it's good), GTAIV and GT5(set for July release according to famistu interview with developer/best selling franchise last gen after GTA) then PS3 will most likely pull ahead of 360 for awhile. Meanwhile, ps3 will continue to outsell 360 in Japan and the rest of the world.

Look at the Wii's game library... Look at the sales.

Yeah, but the Wii is marketed to a different demographic group. And the Wii games are not floping to the left and to the right. The people that buy a PS3 or a 360 demand state of the art titles. PS3 owners are not getting them. Prospective PS3 buyers that were sitting on the fence are going to be faced with a tough $600 decision this holiday season.

It would need to sell nearly 2 million units a month worldwide to hit that number. While 1.1 million is awesome, that means the already awesome Wii would have to increase sales by nearly 100%. I don't see that happeneing. I better guess is it reaching 20 million before spring of 08, and probably 25-28 million by end of 08.

The 360 has some series price cuts coming out plus early on seemingly good games, hard to say if this will give a 360 a boost back to first year numbers. My guess is 12.5 million by the end of this year. 08 is too difficult to predict worldwide reaction.

Ps3 is just, well, hurting, badly. The below estimate number just shows not many people in this countrywere waiting for a ps3 price cut (temporary even for now), they've most likely gone to a wii or 360 by now. Even if it is "barely" outselling the 360 worldwide, it would take it litterally FOUR years to catch up to the 360 if it outsold the 360 by 125K a month worldwide consitently. I don't forsee that happening, and in fact the opposite for this year if the main games do as poorly as reviews are "predicting". By the time that happens, most likely both MS and maybe even Nintendo will be on the verge of their next console. The only solution is for a 200 dollar price cut or a cheaper, "core" model of the PS3. Both of which I don't see happening any time soon, if ever on the latter.

And the Wii games are not floping the left and to the right.

For sure, cows and Sony execs are in denial. This is not a marathon in the typical sprint vs marathon comparison. 2008 is too late for Sony. If Wii hits 20+ million this year and X360 hits 16-18M it will be too little too late for Sony unless they have a MONSTER Christmas, which seems highly unlikely. Once critical mass occurs and a consensus is built that Wii is the casual consumer choice and X360 is as good as PS3 for less cost...where can they Sony go? Nowhere. They launched last at the highest price point....meaning N and MS always have a cost/price advantage and can match any move made by Sony. So they cannot possibly compete on price. And if the market is passing on value...what else is there for them?

Do the math. 20+16+maybe 9M PS3s..... = 45M units....at least aquarter of the market. By early 2008 every Wii and 360 sold is going to be cutting into the total market share that Sony had last generation. Punishing for Sony. One of the largest product collapses in a single product generation in history.

As for the next few months, 360 will dominate(in America at least) thanks to Halo 3. Once the new year sets in though and MGS4, KZ2(granted, if it's good), GTAIV and GT5(set for July release according to famistu interview with developer/best selling franchise last gen after GTA) then PS3 will most likely pull ahead of 360 for awhile. Meanwhile, ps3 will continue to outsell 360 in Japan and the rest of the world.

I like how you refute my point of view :|. Probably cause deep down you know that 11k units is nothing. Yeah 360 outsold ps3 by a little, but so what? It's better that the ps3 battles against 360 sales instead of GBA sales. And stop calling me a cow. I am just saying the truth, and I do not care about any insignifigant ownage claiming. If the price drop had no real effect on sales, then there would be some real ownage to be had, but alas that is not the case. If you want to claim this massive ownage over more 11k units sold a month in the US, then cows should make multiple threads every week how the ps3 is selling 15k more than 360 EVERY WEEK in Japan.

For sure, cows and Sony execs are in denial. This is not a marathon in the typical sprint vs marathon comparison. 2008 is too late for Sony. If Wii hits 20+ million this year and X360 hits 16-18M it will be too little too late for Sony unless they have a MONSTER Christmas, which seems highly unlikely. Once critical mass occurs and a consensus is built that Wii is the casual consumer choice and X360 is as good as PS3 for less cost...where can they Sony go? Nowhere. They launched last at the highest price point....meaning N and MS always have a cost/price advantage and can match any move made by Sony. So they cannot possibly compete on price. And if the market is passing on value...what else is there for them?

Yeap...and the Blu-ray argument is also up in the air with the cheap HD-DVD players coming out and Hollywood studios abandoning the Blu-ray format. It certainly does not look good for Sony right now.

Edit: And lets not forget the possible 360 price cut.
