Along with every almost other 360 or PS3 exclusive, regardless of quality. The hype isn't coming from intelligent sources, it's coming blindly from fanboys who quite frankly are simply the background noise of System Wars, and shouldn't be the focus of the debate.

There are contradictions about the difficulty in the various reviews. Eurogamer based a lot (if not most) of their 7/10 on the notion that NG2 is "cheap".

But Ninja Gaiden 2 strays from the path. Perhaps mindful of the series' reputation for difficulty, Team Ninja ramped up the difficulty level once again - and torn by the conflicting need to provide accessibility for less dedicated players, it's seriously messed up the balance. NG2 regularly stops being challenging and becomes impossible.Eurogamer

The point is that the game is most often rewarding in its challenge. Rarely do you feel as if the game is cheap -- you simply aren't good enough yet and the game's relentless artificial intelligence and swarming enemies are letting you know. I think the problems with Ninja Gaiden 2 are the same problems a lot of this year's 360 sequels face.

Geow 2 looks like an expansion pack, Ninja Gaiden 2 looks like the XBox game. Fable 2 sounds like the first game but a bit closer to the original vision

Banjo Kazooie looks different but apaprently the vehicle mechanic sucks

Dude trust me I have a 360 and love its games I just dont support the console cos I know without M$ backing it up with their s/w capabilities 360 is crap.Whereas ps3 can stand up there and sell even if it had no exclusives.Ps3 in my opinion has so much wasted potential it makes me sad.And I really wanted ng2 to get aaa average(I dont give a *** about GS scores).But after haze I think lems deserve it you guys should have shown some mercy.No hard fellings btw

Yep, I was trying to hold out faith for the lemms and fellow NG fans out there that this would not flop...but this game has more than slowdown issues. It really surprises me that they'd take backwards steps from the AAA work they'd done before.

Then again, other than the framerate, I'm not really seeing backwards steps. Idunno what to think.

But I can confidently think "flop" here.

Yep, I was trying to hold out faith for the lemms and fellow NG fans out there that this would not flop...but this game has more than slowdown issues. It really surprises me that they'd take backwards steps from the AAA work they'd done before.

Then again, other than the framerate, I'm not really seeing backwards steps. Idunno what to think.

But I can confidently think "flop" here.

everyone was hyping this game AAA just because of the screenies ...

now the cons are the frame rate, the lag, the camera, and glitches, the difficutly which no lemming will be able to complete without dying at least 20 times ... they're all non-graphical issues.

You speak as though you have played it. I owned NGS and I had quite a few instances where there were alot of characters on screen and its framerate didnt dip.

The truth is NG is not a very deep game. Its stories are shallow, its characters arent really developed so the game relies heavily on its gameplay. If its gameplay hasnt improved much from NGS then I can understand why they hammered it. Honestly I just never saw why the game got such a high score to begin with.

i can afford to get 2 games this month. MSG4 is a definate then its between GRID or NG2. yesterday NG2 was a shoe in but after today im not so sure

What's with the snide comments? You created your account eleven days ago, it's a bit odd for you to lecture me on "how things work". My point is that it's strange to say "X got _____ review score, therefore it's a better game" when the GS review criteria clearly states that they are not intended to provide cross-system, cross-generational comparissons. When a cross-platform game is released, the comparisson will be done within the review itself in the form of comments, however the review score is NOT intended as a reflection of this.

A sequel that improved over a prequel, but simply did not do so enough could be "outscored" by a quality port on another system, even if the quality port was an inferior game. I don't think that will be the case with NG2, frankly the game is in an odd position and may have sacrificed core gameplay - but the review score isn't what indicates that - it never has, and it never will. Frankly, we need to stop letting people think in those terms - because how good of a game NG2 is has been shown in the commentary already made by GS staffers - from Kevin-V's blog "two steps forward and two steps back" is a pretty dead giveaway.

they review it to their standards...not anybody else's. if they feel it's a AAA game, they'll score it accordingly.

Because the combat, the core gameplay, is immeasurably deep and virtually flawless, with only the camera and a lack of fluid move cancellation holding it back at all (and even then, controlling the camera soon becomes second nature).

Ninja Gaiden Black represents the pinnacle of its genre. Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't have to do much to win me over, but it's doing a lot anyway (all those new weapons and combos, yum). I was hoping they'd include another Mission Mode, though.
