it's all in the document leak. It will not be doing 4k native. It will be smoke and mirrors. Very nice looking smoke and mirrors but still smoke and mirrors. I don't have a problem with that. Smoke and mirrors are what consoles are about (that's that optimization everyone talks about)

It's even more sad that their official websites still has no official info about all these new hardware as of right now.

@KBFloYd: Games will not be native 4K, they will be using advanced algorithms to make lower res source look better on 4K Displays.

Only good thing about the conference was the price. I'm still gonna pass on the Pro though. OG PS4 will do until Scorpio. Plus 4K HDR tvs will be cheaper by then.

And that is one ugly ass console. It literally is two slims mashed together. sigh

Yes, Scorpio is more powerful, but at what cost? There's no guarantee that devs will bother taking advantage of the extra horsepower. PS4 pro will be 300 bucks by the time Scorpio releases. Also, let's get real here most PS4 and X1 sales will continue to come from the base models. With PS5 possibly relasing in about 2 years, the Scorpio will be between a rock and a hard place if the price isn't right. Lems can enjoy graphical bragging rights but they're not even guaranteed that.

Well cows did not get the upgrade to be like or better then the Scorpio that they were really hoping for. If the specs even equaled Scorpio specs then clearly Sony would have been talking about it.

Guess I'll pick up a Scorpio next year. PS4 Pro sounds like a complete waste of time. My current PS4 will be enough to play Horizon, GoW and Spidey next year.

Microsoft has the ball in their court now. The Scorpio will be coming out a full year after the Neo. There is no reason why it couldn't launch at a $399.99 price point. A 6 Tflops GPU in late 2017 will cost $199.99 - $249.99. That is what 4.2 Tflop cards currently cost today (GPU inside PS4 Pro).

The console however was cool, and releasing November is smart.

this conference was boring as hell. No interest in the pro and that meager price drop on the slim model is a joke. No specs given other than the gpu is based on the Polaris architecture which means the leap isn't that great. Design of the system seems to be keeping with the style of the original Ps4 which is ok but I expected a better design as this seems lazy. Oh well not interested in the pro model. My original ps4 will still play all the same games. For those that haven't jumped in yet, well this is the best time to pull the trigger.

This was painfully lack luster. They spent the whole meeting talking about 4K and HDR which is nice but no other specs. House and Cerny looked more tortured than excited. What just happened?

I wonder what is @notafanboy's take on this reveal without specs.

Maybe Mark Cerny the genius will release the PS4 Pro and then reveal that it is 10 TFLOPS+??

So my take on the event.

1. Would of liked more graphical comparisons between standard PS4 and the Pro

2. The extra resolution just made is easier to spot the pop-in on Horizon:ZD

3. The price is actually better then expected

4. They've stuffed the old PS4 in to a new smaller box and stuffed the Pro in to the old PS4 box

5. Would of liked to them to of shown the actual specs of the Pro

6. Would love to know exactly what resolution they are being rendered at, maybe 2560x1440?

7. Launch date is sooner then expected

UHD Blu-ray has extremely slow adoption rate and will not take off. Streaming is the smart choice and it keeps the cost down somewhat.

Games run at higher resolution and when run on a standard 1080p set they can have super sample anti-aliasing applied and also higher quality settings.

take into account all the other new and up coming hardware.....if it uses zen......if it uses GDDR5X or some sort of hbm.........stop looking at just the gpu.

Roughly 2x the performance over Vanilla PS4. Expect more stable frame rates, better textures, anti-aliasing methods, etc....

The adoption rate for blu ray when it first came out was slow.

Cerny is an android. Ive seen Prometheus and Im convinced.

xbox plays pretty much the same games....pc plays most of them better....and nintendo has more exclusives....

PS4 Pro is reality NOW releasing THIS year, 1TB harddrive, 2x the power of PS4, all games working with PS4 Pro and PS4 as stated by Sony and the kicker at $399.

If there is any spin or damage control I think it's on the people who were trying to campaign the PS4 Pro as a different console altogether and a new generation out of damage control of xbone loosing all it's exclusives and having to sit on pins and needles waiting another year for Scorpio to come out but feel free to clarify :P

So we won't have the choice to choose between 4K/30fps or 1080p/60fps?

With the PS4 Pro having almost a full year (presumably) for itself will the the Scorpio have any court to play in? Unless the NX is some kind of smash hit that steals sales from the Sony and MS camps, the Scorpio may be too little too late... time will tell I guess.

@stereointegrity: We need to just use some common sense. Microsoft needs to make a statement with the Scorpio and pricing themselves out of competition is not what they will want to do. Scorpio will be $449.99 tops, but I'm guessing $399.99 to really get a jab in on Sony. Also, Microsoft has to take into consideration that Sony could easily drop the price of the PS4 Pro down to $349.99 by next year. A $349.99 PS4 Pro would annihilate a $449.99 - $499.99 priced Scorpio.

House and Cerny looked more tired then excited. The whole presentation was lack luster and lacked any real specs. I heard alot about the 4K and HDR good things but that was as far as any real specs went. I do not feel good about the Playstation 4 Pro

If this meeting was suppose to generate excitement for their new hardware, it did the opposite and sucked that hype away.

Sony reveals updated PS4 console and the PS4 Pro

The first one is what we’ve been calling the PS4 Slim. It’s actually just the “PS4” – an updated version that Sony isn’t giving a name to (such as “S” in the Xbox One S).

The second console the the one that’s been codenamed “Neo”. It’s real name is the PS4 Pro, and it will feature a more powerful GPU and CPU, and support 4K gaming with HDR as well.

The PS4 Pro will launch this November while the updated PS4 launches next week.

The PS4 will now retail for $299, while the PS4 Pro will retail for $399.

It failed to build excitement. They announced a new system and the excitement level was zero. Cerny talking to the audience as if they are mentally retarded only made it worse.

it can't be more than $500 i think. I'm sure they are trying to figure out how to get the price right. They are over a year away.
