Its a demo a demo that scared away alot of console players because the one level we got to play is a complete mess in geometry issues and balance way too many possible spawn camping scenarios that can and will happen.
Issues with the weapons them selves and lag oh my god the lag even in great games the lag still means if a sniper shoots at you and you get behind cover the game will think your still out of cover for that second shot.
and thats just the tip of the ice berg most console gamers figured something important out...you play a beta thats released 4 weeks before the game is actually released and don't realize hell how are they going to fix these alpha build issues within 2 weeks? *the game will go gold soon*
Lol, you didnt hit any nerves. And what were we supposed to be "upset" about again? Remember, we arent the rabbid ones damage controlling our disaster of a game . nor were we the rabbid ones hyping our game to no end on every venue on the internet. What do we have to be upset for? Our game(s) are going to be better anyways lol. (MW3 and Uncharted 3, as is Gears 3).

D'awww
I'm so happy we can all be friends .
And you're right, Gears 3 and the Uncharted series are awesome.
Sadly, that is what I expected after playing. There have been so many glitches (even though it is fixed on PC now, falling though the map still happens on the PS3 version, not sure of 360 as I don't own one anymore). They have changed the gameplay elements of many things from BF2 and BF2142 (squad management is the big killer). Stupid things like having bipods auto deploy instead of a key that triggers it (I blame this on consoles' lake of input options but it still should have been a toggle-able option on PC). Then, showing off Metro... again... to PC players what just very stupid. Even though I was able to finaly get into one of the Caspian Border servers I have mostly played Metro. Metro is easily the worst map to ever exist in a Battlefield game. Then there is all the Origin/Battlelog crap...
Even I came close to canceling my preorder. Been waiting for BF3 since 2005... I hope the final release fixes a lot and that DICE listen to the community and change a lot of the issues and poor design choices.
First impressions are important and if the beta is crap, then these people have a right to cancel their pre-ordersracing1750
basing it off 1 map and 1 game mode is rather rash, mind you EA could have opened it up more with caspian thrown in aswell.
Trust me when this launches, theres going to be a massivve diffrence between Metro (inf based maps and no stranger to BF at all unlike some posters make out or act like) and Caspian (more "true" BF going by the folks on here).
I'm not interested in the OP pic or the number of pre-orders. I just want the PS3 version to be straight on launch date :(. I'm sure they'll smash the major game breaking bugs in time.
Someone mentioned the insane hype surrounding BF3. Hehe, if you could messure the hype of BF3 on System Wars alone it would need to score a 9.5. Not a 9.0, but a 9.5 :P. If you added the hype from Youtube and other sites, oh my freaking goodness gracious... I wouldn't dare attempt to measure that. A new measuring scale would be necessary :P.
They tried to generate hype with the Beta but it backfired somewhat.
I still respect them for showing off the game, lots of companies don't have the balls to show their beta.
I'm %100 sure the final product will be much better.
whatcha gunnnnna do when the game score a 9-9.5? :P and even if it scores a 3 ill be playing it on my pc for hours on end just like bf2 (:
also what i said from the oter thread ::chill out folks. stuff like this makes me realize how uptight and short tempered people are that play some of these video games.
like just bc someone fell through the map they will rant about it for 2 pages trying to say how bad a game is. the beta is a blast to me. and if something happens like i get killed from something stupid i laugh it off and go back at it. the final game will be way better, just enjoy the fact your playing anything
I did not pre-order the game but if i had pre-ordered i would have cancel it,and lets just say i have my own COD loving kids instead of been one.lol The beta was horrible,i don't know how people can complain about Resistance 3 and not this garbage i may get it when it get lower on price for single player.Lol at people not knowing the difference between a demo and a beta.
The vast majority of those 34K were probably Cod kids, good riddance.

[QUOTE="Sagem28"]So you think the game is going to undergo massive changes within the next 3 weeks? Exactly if it was that easy Rage would have not problems now as well, this game is done other than a few minor fixes, big problems had to be solve with a huge update latter on,and i mean huge to actually make me play this game again.Lol at people not knowing the difference between a demo and a beta.

I wasn't planning on getting this but the beta convinced me. So they won at least one customer

I'm actually thinking the majority of people who are really hating on this beta have had no intention of buying BF3 anyways.
They should never have done an open beta, not on this buggy of code. Their forums are socked in with trolls and people who just want to cause hell, youtube is flooding with horrible mis-representations of the game, and they are having a hard time filitering out the trash compared to the real feedback they need.
This may be a warning about future open betas, I don't think we'll be seeing to many.
[QUOTE="Sagem28"]So you think the game is going to undergo massive changes within the next 3 weeks? Yes, that's the glorious upside to a thing called "Updates" practically the whole game can be fixed in 3 weeks, the hard work has been done, the engine, the characters, story, levels, it's all finished and now pretty much 100% of their time can go to bugs or tweaks.Lol at people not knowing the difference between a demo and a beta.

I'm loving the beta but can see why people have dropped there pre orders, give us a map that is actually BF, people have been dissing cod for being the same game every year (even dice have been doing this) and what do dice do? Use a map for the Beta that is exactly like a COD map, initially people will see this as just another run of the mill shooter like all the rest and drop out. Later on when it's released they will see that it is not like the others and come back.

Honestly, if DICE just releases a Demo of BF3 on a good map (preferably Conquest game mode), with 100% final code, I'm sure that would sell copies. The Beta/Demo for Bad Company (1) was very meh, so I didn't buy it. BC2 demo however, so me on the game.Lol at people not knowing the difference between a demo and a beta.

I don't understand why these people have to be described as completely ignorant. Just because they cancelled their preorder doesn't mean that they don't know what a beta is and it also doesn't mean they are CoD fanboys.
Me personally, this game was going to be a first day buy for me but now I'm just going to back off for a while before picking it up. Its not because I don't know what a beta is. Its just that I don't believe in miracles. Seriously, how can DICE fix ALL those problems in 3 weeks. And then people want to say it was an old build; well then why are they trying to test out an old build soo late in its production state?
I mean sure the map was terrible, but that isn't even what I'm basing my faults with it on. I don't like the prone system, the stopping power on the guns are rediculous, the party system is a joke and the textures are really ugly. If these are just the core mechanics of the game, beta or not, then I don't think I'm interested.
Either way, I don't feel sorry for DICE at all. If this is an "old" build then they shouldn't be surprised that people are angry. A beta is suppose to iron out bugs, and all this beta did was point out all the flaws.
If worse comes to worse then I'll just go back to BC2. Thats probably one of my favorite FPS so its all good. And that beta was great.
Well I'd cancel mine too. Coming from someone who hasn't played Battlefield before, it felt a lot like COD and had no redeeming qualities.

Like I said, the map is far from the problem. Well at least for me. A better map couldn't save all the flaws that the game has going for it.
It's called a BETA for a reason. It's not up-to-date code. Although that's what you have to play right now, the final product has already undergone changes in the studio. The beta is just helping them find bugs in the game, some of which they'll have time to fix before launch and others that will need patching later down the line.
Old build or not, the netcode is abysmal. If they can't get that right in this beta that's realy a demo, then they probably don't have it right in the full game. BC2 doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about BF3's potential to be a good online game, and I don't care about the SP.

The beta is an old build. It takes awhile to get it through to xbox live and psn so the pc has to be the same build.

Betas are never the newest build, ever. Sony and Microsoft's content distribution would not let them put out a new version before the game even releases. They said in limbo for over a month waiting for those two to get their crap together. DICE is also not going to bother wasting time updating a beta.
This is why they need ot NOT do open betas anymore. People have absolutly no idea how they work. Open beta's of Gears and Uncharted are literally glorified demos while BF3's was a true beta, bugs and all. The word beta this gen has become the same as demo in the eyes of most people.
DICE does not need external QA to test for bugs. They have internal QA that does that. This beta was to stress test servers and get community feedback on the latest UI and battlelog implementation. The bugs will all be fixed by launch.
Don't you have something better to do then obsess-hatred over a video game? you don't like it fine...get over it. Besides have you played the final game? you're the type of kiddo's who talk smack early and then love it later...sigh.I do feel bad for the poor guys at DICE though. They are going to be the laughing stock of the internet when this unmitigated disaster of a game flops, and gets lower scores than MW3 (and prolly Black ops and Bad Company 2 for that matter  ) and these poor guys have to suffer ridicule all because of EA's maximum trolling
This game is going to be a flop on Medal of Honor levels, and I cannot wait to see the look on Battlefield fanboy's faces.

Exactly, you nailed it.
they have only themselves to blame, yes the beta was beyond terrible but i knew the only reason they had one was to test their servers. many people expected a posilshed beta like gears 3 but it wasnt to be. what they should have done was conquest mode on a larger map and had eveything unlocked so we could test everything out.

IDK about Gears, but Uncharted 3 was definetly a beta. There were plenty of glitches and issues with it. Naughty Dog had to stress test their servers as well. The difference is, Naughty Dog fixed the problems and updated the beta, and Uncharted wasn't weeks away from release. The Battlefield beta is in a worse state than Uncharted was...4 months ago?
Most of the people who played Caspian (it was PW protected for those n00bs who don't know :P) had a ton of fun with the game. Go watch TotalBiscuit's channel on YT, he plays metro and thinks its bad. Then he plays Caspian and loves it. And I loved playing it too, it feels like a very improved BF2 with a lot of exciting stuff going on. LethalhazardYep, a lot of people dislike Metro. I don't really mind it, though. But playing Caspian Border was just amazing and completely different.

Yep. Even the BF fans don't like Metro. That kind of disarms COD guys arguements lol
