My friend dropped by with his Xbox 360 and brought a bunch of games, we played for about 6 hours. I remember him buying this system on launch, and being a Gamecube owner, I was pretty impressed. Mainly with the High Definition and the super comfortable controllers.

Well, my friends, time has not treated this console well. I am utterly shocked at how much further advanced my PS3 is than the 360. Did you know that if you want to use a headset, it plugs into the controller? PS3 had Bluetooth. Did you know that is has an old fashioned disc tray? PS3 has slot loading. Did you know the 360 has to use MS branded hard-drive at a marked up price? PS3 uses any laptop HD. Did you know the 360 has no built in wireless? I think you already know, the PS3 does. Its not capable of playing Bluray either. Did you know it has memory card slots? So last gen! The external power brick on this thing is HUGE! The interface is cluttered and annoying. And dont get me started on those mucus-green game cases.

You know, I try to stay out of the PS3/360 debate, but the 360 is set-up like a last-gen console. Its on par with my Gamecube, its only advantage being the HD output(oh, wheres the HDMI slot, MS?) I truly feel sorry for people who bought this thing and even worse for the people who hype it. The reason my friend has not played it in 1.5 years is becuase he bought a PS3 and hasnt touched the 360 since. We tried loading some original Xbox games and after trying 9 and being denied support, we finally got Halo to work and thats it. I played a little Dead Rising, Crackdown, Perfect Dark Zero and the graphis are downright cartoony compared to PS3 titles like Uncharted and MGS4.

He left it here for me to play during the weekend, but seriously, the only reason I can muster to turn this thing on is to find another dozen reasons why my PS3 is light years ahead of this dinosaur.

You know that the PS3 has lost almost everything worth owning on the console besides two exclusives that I can think of!
1) LBP
2) GOWIII
You also know that most multiplats are better on 360 because they're being developed for that console and then ported over to the PS3!

/credibility

Just to put this out there...PDZ and Crackdown are SUPPOSED to look cartoony...and Dead Rising's graphics are toned down due to the massive amounts of enemies.

also, there is a Wireless Mic that you can buy for the 360.

1. There are wireless headsets.

2. Who cares about the disc tray?

3. 360 has built in wireless O_O.

4. Memory card slots give options to gamers.

5. No blu-ray, big deal.

6. The graphical difference between the 360 and Ps3 are pretty much identical.

Lastly, the 360 has loads of more exclusives than the PS3.

Wow, just wow. Good one, not the by slandering the 360, but attempt . Little cartoon, I dunno I guess you should expect realism from cell shaded games like those.

I find out you spend so much time playing a last gen system.

Funny, time has treated mine well. My headset doesn't plug into my controller. WTF, awe a disc tray, poor baby, the button to hard to press for your fingers? My Xbox came with a 20 GB HDD, I don't ever see myself needing another one. I use Hardwired ethernet, so wireless doesn't matter. **** blu-ray, I am A-OK with DVD's still. Memory Cards, ok I have a Hard Drive for it, Memory Carda allow my Arcade SKU's to bring over thir profiles.Boo hoo about the power brick, the gamecube had one too. The interface is only cluttered because you're a noob. and the Lime green cases stand out better than thoses crappy short and clear PS3 cases. HDMI, yeah, it's there for a bunch of people.

In summary. WAAAAAAAAAAAH, PS3 IMMA FANBOI WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Wtf? Launch titles on the 360 don't look as good as Uncharted or MGS4? Why is that???

Well you sure like to nitpick though, don't you? Given that the ps3 came out a year later (ps3 fanboys looooove to use this excuse when it goes to their advantage) don't you think Sony would throw in a few extra features to get the consumer interested? In fact, it wasn't until Sony dropped the price on the ps3 several times (i lost count) that sales actually picked up for them.

But anyway, what's the big deal? When you put all of those things you mentioned aside, the 360 performs as good, if not better than the ps3, except that it doesn't have Blu-ray as the movie format. But as a video game console, it is still superior.

360 does not have built in wireless. you have to buy it for 100 or buy the older one for 50. To the op i might be a cow but the 360 isnt that bad other then rrod its ok. It still has some good games like gears2.

Im just saying, as a piece of hardware, the 360 has more in common with 6th-gen consoles, save the HD. That cluncky disc tray is just outdated and cheap looking, MS is the only one who still uses it.

And again, I am NOT trying to slam 360 owners, but only to express my sympathy. When MS strategized thier head start, they just forgot to look further into the future. And to the boy who said "mooooooooo", c'mon, MS is the only company milking this gen.

Wow, what a good argument. As an owner of both systems, they both offer things that are superior and inferior. On the technical merits, both consoles are pretty damn close. PS3 has yet to "wow" me, though. 360 has been able to "wow" me quite a few times. Oh noes, disc drive! Sooo old school!

Most of the stuff you listed was irrelevant, or is a good thing for 360 owners, such as the mem-card slots (options are never a bad thing).

And about the "cartoonish" look of some games, wouldn't you think they were designed like that on purpose (hence the cell-shading done in Crackdown, the bright look of PDZ, and well DR has a sort of bright-atmosphere darkened by the presence of zombies)? Did you try any other games on it? There's quite a large variety of titles you could be trying, go rent an exclusive like Bioshock, since you definately won't want to buy it for your PS3 and can beat it in a day or two, or play some of his other games.

You obviously don't pay much attention to the Wii with it's console that didn't come with a controller recharger (It came with the rechargable controllers though) or the need to purchase another type of controller for the older downloadable game or the split nunchuck and remote sales that cost about $15 (for where I live) more than a controller by Sony or MS or the various addons for the controller that you can purchase to heighten your experience with games (Wii baseball bat or tennis racket anyone?) OR that new controller addon that many games will need to play that was shown at E3.

Or how about the PS3 which had blu-ray in order to further Sony's share in the media format business. IT was so expensive because all new technologies are expensive but they wanted to peg the Ps3 owners for it to further their media format. The PS3 - the perfect console when you want to purchase things you don't need. OF course what you do need (According to many cows) is the correct cord to connect your PS3 to your TV for true 1080p playback but they never sold that with their PS3. They did sell you many thing with it (Such as a wireless adapter) That many owners of the system can do without.

You know what I mean, i feel it too sometimes, the urge to stand up for the system you own and tell everyone that it's better than their's. Look into you're heart, and i think you'll see the real intentions of this thread.

Did you try any other games on it? There's quite a large variety of titles you could be trying, go rent an exclusive like Bioshock, since you definately won't want to buy it for your PS3 and can beat it in a day or two, or play some of his other games.

Well, he has not bought any games for it in a year and a half, so unfortunately these were the only games he had. And I relaize that GTA4, Halo3, Gears, etc all look great. My main observation was the hardware itself.

Its not like that. I have NEVER owned a Sony system before the PS3. The intentions of this thread were my observations, and basically the 360 compares to my Gamecube more than the PS3.

Yeah, and most of your observations were based on irrelevant little things which matter little in determining the "worth" of a console. You definately need to try some games, because if you wanted to get the best hardware and the "best HD Experience" you wouldn't be console gaming to begin with. ;)

The Playstation 3 does not come with a headset. You have to buy a Bluetooth headset separately which is alright since it may work for your phone as well. You can on the other hand buy a wireless mic for the Xbox 360.

The slot on the PS3 is better in my opinion. The tray for the Xbox 360 seem very cheap although it has held up for me for a year now.

It is pretty cool that PS3 can use any hard drive. It's not because of the technology though. The main reason the Xbox 360 cannot use a regular hard drive is for marketing and marketing only.

Xbox 360 does have built in wireless controllers that transmit data via infared and PS3 uses blutooth, but I think you mean wi-fi. It is very convinient to have built in wi-fi for PS3.

The reason I bought a PS3 after I got my 360 was mainly for the Blu-Ray functionality. But Blu-ray is owned by Sony so I don't think Microsoft will have it until the next generation of gaming consoles which is right around the corner.

Did you know the PS3 doesn't have memory sluts? So inconvenient.

The power brick is very big and hot I agree.

The interface is personal choice. Although I do agree with you the PS3 has a much nicer interface than the Xbox 360's. But before the end of the year the interface will hace a major facelift making much more sleek like the PS3's.

The later models of Xbox 360s do have HDMI sluts so in order to get it, you would have to trade it in.

The grafics are supposed to be cartoony on some of the games. The truth is the 360 has more power than the PS3. I forgot where I read it, but the author of the article did a detailed breakdown of the different computing parts and proved that the Xbox had more power than the PS3. Also if you look at the graphical comparisons made my gamespot, Xbox comes out on top on all three.

In conclusion, the PS3 is a more complete package and it is more universal, but you could probably get all that extra stuff for the Xbox for about the same price. And also the the Xbox plays the games much better than the PS3. You make the choice they both have their pros and cons.

And i always owned a Sony system upto Ps3... It's not really the brand that you care about. It's you're system, the one that you have ownership of, being the best. Even if you still see this thread as just... 'observations', this thread is just you're brain trying to reassure itself that 'you're' system is the best and better than the rest. It's only natural :)

Like I said in my first post, I was and still am impressed with the 360's controller. I am seriously considering getting one for use on my PC. Although it seems to have copied a lot from Nintendo's Wavebird, it is leaps and bounds ahead of the original Xbox controller. There have been a few mature replies and I do appreciate that, but more than a few fanboy replies where they call me a fanboy(irony?) Just silly kids!

Microsoft released thier 360 early to cut into Nintendo and Sony's market and that strategy worked well for thier sales. But, it did leave the 360 as the most dated console and I am just concerned that MS will drop this thing like a hot potato like they did with the original Xbox. If thats the case, it only has a year left.

I have enjoyed playing the original Halo tonight, Its been a while since last time I played it and it truly is a great game. Why, though does it display in 4:3, leaving black bars on my widecreen? Is there a way to adjust it?

Good lord! Im NOT trying to hurt your feelings. My friend has and does tell me often, as a owner of BOTH the 360 and PS3, which he prefers and why. I dont NEED to justify my purchase, nothing compares to it. And again, I am NOT bashing the 360, simply observing how it has "aged".

Well the 360 does have a more advanced gpu design than the PS3. So what then?

There is no need to nitpick the PS3!. You'd have to make something up(happens in SW a lot). You probably know that the 360 will be getting a price drop soon and I was considering it a little. Why not be able to play 360 exclusives? But I cant justify this system after witnessing the old technology the 360 is decorated with.

I know you lemmondrops, or whater you're called, are butthurt that I discovered these things, but Im not "being mean".

You just keep raising the MS flag, Im going to go play some more Halo!

 okay, im dropping this since im now going to lower myself to ur level and start with name calling........
