It's ridicilous that they give you a list of games that changes every month, and you have to choose from those. The whole thing just sounds kind of dumb IMO. I get a 3 month card and spend $50 worth of games and DLC, and than when the 3 months is over I'll have nothing.

psn+ pay 50 bucks a year to rent 5-15 dollar games, dlc, 2 dollar thems and avaters, You still don't get cross game chat and psn will still go down. And freeze and crash.

KittenWishes

XBL has larger record of downtime than PSN. What happened in holiday 2007 alone outweights all of PSN's downtime.

It was like 48 hours and everyone got given FREE GAMES. I've only had XBL Gold for 1.5 years and have never seen it down. PSN is down now and then, especially earlier this year when it had a meltdown.[/QU

It's not like they take your free games from the previous month away, you keep those games as long as you're subscribed. Also, you'll get them all (free games, DLC, etc) backonce you subscribe again.

If sweepstakes are one of the biggest features of XBL Gold, then I'd rather buy lotto tickets or enter in a raffle. With about 20 million Gold Subscribers, chances of winning are slim to none.

But people can win a car with xbox live gold, while on psn+ you win free dlc??????????

On PSN+, you pay to use features you could have other ways. On XBL Gold, you pay to unlock features of which most could be free. See the difference? I hope you're being sarcastic.

Xbox LIVE silver members have all the features PSN+ members do.

Except free online multiplayer that comes with a standard Playstation Network account.

Neither services are worth the money imo though.

I don't know how people playing the games themselves justifies a better service, but I just happened to check the numbers. I actually own MW2 on both consoles. I highly doubt you do.

XBL: 288,419

PSN: 203,756

That difference is so small, I'd ask why it even matters?
If pure numbers make the product better, I'd hate to see your opinion on other subjects.

85,000 is not small, if you do the percentages, according to your numbers there are nearly 30% more people playing MW2 on 360

When MW2 launched there were 2+ million users on Xbox LIVE, I doubt Sony has had anywhere near that level of traffic on PSN.

Seems it is better. But I have no interest in paying another 45 euro a year. Since if I want to buy online on 360, I have to pay correction waste 40 euro a year because of microsoft greediness.

Microsoft should give some free stuff with their gold fee too. But they are known for greediness so I'm not expecting anything.

Those discounts are just normal gaming discounts (fairly old games and such), case in point Steam. Nothing to do with gold subscription, other than you have to have it to get that discount. Which again shows how greedy microsoft is.

And it's not free stuff.

The BORROWED games on PSN+ aren't free either. And The MIsadventures of P.B Winterbottom is only 3 months old and they are selling it at half price this week. Same with Darwinia+. I would rather have these awesome, weekly sales, knowing that they are MINE and I will be keeping them whether or not I opt to be a GOLD member, than to pay $50 a year to borrow them from Sony.

PSN+ gives you discount, and you can keep those games/dlc (for what it gives discount). On top of that psn+ borrows games for you (like you said). If you buy games when you have that psn+ those games are still yours (like you do with xbox live normal purchase) when going back to psn.

Yep 3 months is old this gen. Steam has gaming discounts on games that are 1-2 months old, never on new releases. Just like xbox live doesn't have. Normal discounting nothing to with gold subscription.

Also you are borrowing games/content on xbox live gold too. Online games and online specific dlcs, since they don't work anymore when you go back silver.

Here we go with the online specific DLC. I'm PRETTY SURE that anyone willing to shell out $20 for online DLC is more than capable of renewing their GOLD subscription. Jesus H Christ... I appreciate you trying your hardest but you're just repeating the same old thing over and over again.

Wow talk about huge selective reading. Somebody is losing argument? :P

You cute little lemming

Also with your logic I can say if person can pay 40 euro for psn+ then they can pay that amount years to come.

And it's still borrowing. You lose xbla bought online specific games when you go back to silver=you lose those free games when you go back to psn.

No I'm not, you're coming up with obscure scenario's about multiplayer DLC not being able to be used once someone goes back to silver. I said that if someone is willing to throw down $20 for 3 maps for MW2, then CHANCES ARE they can afford to renew their yearly subscription. What if the game no longer has a large multiplayer community? Will you blame Xbox LIVE Gold for that too? Jesus... Then you started wittering on about how 3 months is a long time and something about Steam that isn't relevant to anything being said here, all because I mentioned that there are weekly sales on XBLA, and I had just picked up an Arcade game for half-price.

Why is anyone even complaining? It's optional. SONY's not forcing it down you.

Bottom line :
It's a good deal for people who buy alot of stuff from the PSN store.

All major features are free as of now.

No you don't, you still own them. Unlike PSN+, where they are confiscated from your HDD.

Like I have said repeatedly to you, maybe it will sink in this time, anybody willing to spend money on online-specific DLC or games (I think there is a grand total of ONE: Battlefield) will be willing to spend on renewing their Gold subcription.

Hulu used to be accessible on PS3's net browser. They took the compatibility off maybe for business purposes (ie PSN+).

Seriesly though, having a net browser giving you the access to just about anything on the internet is a huge advantage.

And you can only choose from what they give you. No way in hell I'm signing up for something where they take my stuff away even though I paid them.

I see a lot of haters tried to discredit PS+ but they failed! However you slice it it ends up being like this... Xbox Live Gold has you pay JUST to ACCESS the online portion of the games you ALREADY BOUGHT. PS+ on it's first month alone has already given you over 50$ in value back with LBP, Wipeout HD, Destruction Derby, the Zombie game, KZ2 DLC, themes etc. In one month PS+ has given you more value then Live has since it's birth. On PSN normal members still get everything they've always had for free and that includes some DLC and themes that are free on PSN. Each month the value will grow and grow and people that odn't want PS+ will still have awesome PSN just the way it is.

This is win win win win. Theres is absolutly no negative here, PS+ is UNDOUBTBLY a huge win for PS3 fans and for online services on consoles. And you know how Sony rolls, they'll just keep adding stuff each month and making deals and promotions.

We know it's not free, it's like a rental service, you guys hating are using that arguement on every one of the 20 pages of this thread. WE KNOW HOW IT WORKS! We say it's free because we'«re comparing it to Xbox Live Gold, if a PS3 and a 360 fan both ge their console today, and both of them pay for an online subsciption, the only thing the 360 fan gets is access to online play, the PS3 fan gets TONS of value, games games and more games, + DLC, themes, more features... PS+ is mega ownage next to Live.

If thats love then Cows are just battered housewives who just keep going back for more.

DOn't get the analogy :? Sony treats their fanbase great! PSN has always been free, they kept their word about keeping it free even when every 360 fan was like "COWS OWNED SOny is gonna charge for PSN!! HAHA!!" Sony still did the decent thing to do, MS would have never been so kind to it's player base.
And you know how Sony rolls, they'll just keep removing features each monthKittenWishes
Fixed. PSN+ is like Xbox LIVE's retarded cousin.

Lol the one where you pay for features you really dont need....still im happy with PSN bog standard can play online and play with friends all i really really need and you have to pay for that on XBL logic is slightly flawed as the services provided by both are actually near polar opposites when i looked at them lol.

Lemming logic failure as usual kitten.

Wow, a lot of hate going around...

Do all PS3 owners really care so much about some new online service that they immediately thinks its Gods gift to mankind?

For XBL, you can't play downloaded games unless you're signed online in some way, even with the free online service you can still download arcade games and many other things. From what I've heard, PSN+ has you paying all the time to keep your stuff, but as soon as you stop paying the service, you lose everything.

From what I can tell, both online services are great, but forcing people to continue to pay to keep their downloaded things?

PSN+ is kind of like driving a bus rigged with a bomb that will detonate if you stop moving. If you stop paying for PSN+, you're screwed.

No. You've been listening to the haters too much. If you buy anything on PSN or download any content like free themes and DLC, or buy DLC or whatever, being a PS+ subcriber or not is irrelevant, you keep that stuff forever, even if you sign up to PS+ and then cancel it. If you sign up to PS+ you get some content to keep FOREVER, like themes, certain DLC, LBP for example, but most of it, the 4+ games per month are like a rental service. Live makes you pay JUST to ACCESS the online portion of your games, you don't get anything for the pricetag, and when you cancel live, they take the online portion of your games away from you, it's borderline scam. The only reason they don't take more away when you cancel is because they never gave you anything to begin with. PS+ is like a free DLC, themes, content + rental service + additional features, betas, demos, game trials etc In it's first month it's already pretty much worth the price tag, imagine after a full year. MS needs to do something with Live quick, at least give us a free"rental" game a month with Gold or something... They give you NOTHING! The only thing they're giving you is something they had no right in taking away in the first place... Scam imo.

I just checked out PSN+, there's nothing there that I want. Here's the thing there offering free game's and discounts on DLC, but I've already bought everything that I wanted on PSN.

I don't buy a lot of DLC maybe the odd map pack.

So I'm left with games I have no interest in, and DLC for games I don't have.

Why would I pay to rent games when I can buy them, games on PSN are not expensive anyway.

Free Minis thats great how much do they cost 2.99 and there crap games anyway

It's great that it's optional! Obviously someone like you that owns half of the PSN store this isn't really meant for you, I own 0 PSN games though, so this is mega awesome for me. But I'm still guessing Sony is going to keep adding content services and features to try and tempt even people like you that already own all the really good PSN store content.

I'm going to wait off before I decide where I stand on this issue. Honestly, based on your previous posts, I'd like a few more opinions from other people before I decide On how I want to judge the PSN+ service.

The only thing PSN+ is getting is renting 5-15 dollar games. Besides that xbl has everything esle.

I doubt you going to get all the crazy sales that xbl has from time to time. XBLA is still going to have more titles.

How are you downplaying PS+ and praising XBL, for the exact same price XBL peeps get a big fat nothing. They get access to their own online games, somehting MS had no right taking away in the first placePS+ is giving TONS OF GAMES, free DLC, themes, services features, betas, game trials, auto updates etc etc. IT's like X-MAS ONCE a month! We still have the normal PSN for everyone else. This is way more worth the price tag then paying for somehting that you really already own...

PSN+ you get a big fat nothing. NONE OF THE FREE STUFF YOU GET YOU CAN KEEP. Anything free from XBL you keep forever, themes, avater add-ons etc.

Almost everything you said xbl has.
