How are you downplaying PS+ and praising XBL, for the exact same price XBL peeps get a big fat nothing. They get access to their own online games, somehting MS had no right taking away in the first placePS+ is giving TONS OF GAMES, free DLC, themes, services features, betas, game trials, auto updates etc etc. IT's like X-MAS ONCE a month! We still have the normal PSN for everyone else. This is way more worth the price tag then paying for somehting that you really already own...[QUOTE="TehNubTuber"][QUOTE="James161324"]
The only thing PSN+ is getting is renting 5-15 dollar games. Besides that xbl has everything esle.
I doubt you going to get all the crazy sales that xbl has from time to time. XBLA is still going to have more titles.
James161324
PSN+ you get a big fat nothing. NONE OF THE FREE STUFF YOU GET YOU CAN KEEP. Anything free from XBL you keep forever, themes, avater add-ons etc.
Almost everything you said xbl has.
Last time I checked PSN has more "free" content than an XBL paid subscription.

WRONG! Anything that's on PSN for free, themes, DLC anything you can keep forever and you don't even need to have PS+, IF you get PS+ you also get some content like DLC and themes etc that's your too keep FOREVER! It's the 4+ games a month that you can't keep forever otherwise it would be the best deal in gaming history. And With Live you cancel Gold and MS TAKES YOUR ONLINE portion of the games AWAY! Your info is all WRONG!If you already have all the content they offer, or at least the content that you were interested in, it is most certainly not 'worth it.' I don't have enough friends with PS3s to justify the chat feature... everyone I know has a 360 and a LIVE Gold membership. If I had no PSN Store content, more friends with PS3s, and didn't own a 360, I guess it would be OK. But if you're like me, I don't really see the point. donalbaneWell imo this is where they hit a home run, some of us already have what we consider the best content on the PSN store, or other who simply don't care, but what's awesome is how normal PSN users don't get the feeling of getting shafted. I mean I can ignore this completly and still use PSN like I always have, or I can get in on some awesome deals!

I won't consider it until I let a few months pass by and see what is offered. After 24 hours, it's not worth it.
And just because one person here is advertising PSN+ like an employee of Sony, doesn't mean that all PS3 owner think this is a great thing. The thread has shown quite the opposite. It certainly isn't going to convince anyone to switch to a PS3.
Well there are another 11 months of content on the way, and I've seen various people say in this first month they already got about 45 bucks of worthy content. What I think this thread proves is how very few people would pay for Xbox Live Gold if Silver had online play. I mean this is a way better value for the same price tag, yet you have a lot of 360 fans saying it's not worth it. So 1+1 =...I won't consider it until I let a few months pass by and see what is offered. After 24 hours, it's not worth it.

I am in the same boat. However, I still think PSN+ a great value.
Wow, surprised this thread is still going. Why cant people just accept the fact that this is a good deal and move on? :? Fuhgeddabouditt
Right. I see it no differently than the XBL marketplace.
I just wished people would stop calling it PSN+... it isn't. Fact. It's PlayStation Plus, and a very deliberate distinction. It's another layer onto the PlayStation Store, affecting PSN very little.
But hey, if people find value in it, more power to 'em. Can't find fault in that.

Mostly because just like PSN+ Xbox Live gold is also a good deal but yet 360 owners have gotten nothing but grief because of it for the entire gen so far. So to go from one stance to the other is typical System Wars flip flopping and you cant blame people for calling others out on it.
I pay for Xbox Live (Gold) and have done since 2003 ish and i'll be getting PSN+ very soon aswell.

Except the PlayStation Store is part of the PlayStation Network so technically its still correct. Since Sony has discussed adding network features such as cross-game voice chat through PlayStation Plus, "PSN+" appears to be a pro-active moniker. However, Sony didn't create the nickname "PSN+", but the industry has been calling it that for awhile.
Wow, a lot of hate going around...
Do all PS3 owners really care so much about some new online service that they immediately thinks its Gods gift to mankind?
For XBL, you can't play downloaded games unless you're signed online in some way, even with the free online service you can still download arcade games and many other things. From what I've heard, PSN+ has you paying all the time to keep your stuff, but as soon as you stop paying the service, you lose everything.
From what I can tell, both online services are great, but forcing people to continue to pay to keep their downloaded things?
Is readiing or listening that hard to do? The ONLY downloads you lose when you quit subscribing are the FREE GAMES. The purchased content, FREE avatars and FREE themes are yours to keeps, aswell as Free DLC or purchased DLC. Also did I say Free Online is still there to play the games you've purchased or the DLC you've purchased to go with those games.PSN+ is kind of like driving a bus rigged with a bomb that will detonate if you stop moving. If you stop paying for PSN+, you're screwed.

Amazing, I've had free avatars and free themes aswell as free dlc from normal psn, its weird huh. But with ps+ I do get to play 4 new games each month (1 psn, 2 mini's, and 1 psp game)that are mine as long as I have a subscription. How long do you play a downloadable game for? More than likely not even close to a year. Also I can tryout a game for hour or so that lets me keep the trophies I've collected if I purchase the game after trying it out. I should report you for making stuff up, I have called no one ignorant, stop spreading lies, all I've said is PS+ shows how much of a bad deal and borderline scam Gold is, but I have repeatedly said I understand perfectly why ppl pay for Gold, gamers need to pwn noobs online, however I hold the right to dispise Miscosoft for putting gamers in that situation.[QUOTE="donalbane"]If you already have all the content they offer, or at least the content that you were interested in, it is most certainly not 'worth it.' 360 has features that you chose not to cherry pick. Game-fu
Or it could just as easily be shortened to PS+. The Network part really isn't benefiting from the extra Store access that PS+ offers.
Sorry, the cross-game voice chat is just a rumor. If we want an apples to apples comparison let's compare everything. PS+ and PSN against XBL and the Marketplace.
Content: PS+ vs Marketplace
PS+ has plenty of nice perks for those that find value in them. Discounts and free content is always a good thing. However, the Marketplace still has its advantages like a guaranteed demo for every game on there plus integration into the interface that gives us multiple, logical points of entry. Not to mention multiplatform add-ons that seem to make it to the 360 first. XBL gold members enjoy some Gold-only timed exclusive content, but not as much as PS+ users.
Online service: PSN vs XBL
XBL has plenty of nice perks for those that find value in them. The party system, cross game invites, lots of attention by community managers. However, PSN is free and for many that's a deal-breaker.
Where does that leave us? It leaves the fanboys to argue over the minutiae.
You just have to ask yourself which is more important to you: content or service?
Ok Ps3 owners I have a way to fix this issues were having. We'll just call Ps+, PS+ rental service. This is because lemmings can't seem to addup the amount of games you get in a year to play and can't place a value on it. They had this same issue when purchasing a console, when they purchased a 360 over the ps3 to begin with. Things you actually get to attributes value to an item lemmings are blind to and maybe someday Sony will know how to market to these kind of people or hopefully not.
Cause if they learn how to they may think that they need to take away essential items from your games and make you pay for it inorder for you to play it. You know everyone will want that item back and purchase their subscription then and it will be deemed popular lol. Heck they even might beable to put a cap on my elctrical cord that the only way I can remove it is with a subcription that way I can now plug in my console to use it. This would also be deem popular and the cool thing to do.
I mean if I go to the store and they have a deal where I can get 3 tubs of ice cream for the price of 1, I mean who in their right mind thinks that is a deal. I mean really. I still had to pay for the 1 what the heck. I mean why do people pay to go into a Sam's club, don't those people or vendors know they are just paying to get cheaper stuff geez. And why on earth does Gamefly or Netflix get so much hype, geez don't people know they don't get to keep those movies, I mean really. I hope those people know they didn't actually see any of those movies for free. I don't care if you watched 30 movies that month you sitll paid $20 for that month. Its not free dangit.
Anyway

Or it could just as easily be shortened to PS+. The Network part really isn't benefiting from the extra Store access that PS+ offers.

Yes, but you're kind of missing the point. PlayStation Network isn't just simply the connection you use to play multi-player games. PSN is all-encompassing from PlayStation Store to PlayStation Home to PSP Go. I was just using the cross-game voice chat as an example of how one could see it your way. I'm not comparing service for service; your argument was semantics (or at least I thought so). I mean technically, most of PSN+ is just a rumor. All we know about it thus far is whats been released this month. I can't honestly explain why journalists decided to choose PSN+ specifically over PS+ or whatever else, but I don't think its wrong nor does it really matter.
Noone said it's a bad deal.Psn+ will just never be better than live and you will continue to think your right because you never used xbox live.So don't go saying that with live you just get online play that you lose when you subscribe, especially when on psn+ you have to pay to play a 1hour rental instead of just getting a free demo.Ok Ps3 owners I have a way to fix this issues were having.
P.S. there is actually NO reason anyone should have to pay to play online. A feature is a feature that your hardware can do, so MS is charging people to access what their 360 can already do with xgame chat aswell. So they charge for what a game already gives you access to and what your hardward can already do.

Wow you say the samething all the time, you still haven't proven to anyone that psn+ is better than xbox live gold, you just talk about online play.I wonder why sony is making you pay 50$ a year to pay to rent a 1hour game instead of giving you a free demo like xbox live does.Yes, but you're kind of missing the point. At the end of the day, I don't think we're disagreeing. However, people seem to be muddling up the comparison between the two.
Does PS+ make PSN better than XBL? Depends on your perspective as I mentioned earlier. If your focus is online store content, then I suppose I can see where people may think it a good value.
One the flipside, if the focus is online community, then Xbox Live is the better value.
I suppose this thread will be locked, goodbye good thread 23+ pages for a new System Warrior, you've served me well!

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. But it's necessary to keep the board from being flooded with topics on this subject. So for now, all discussion regarding PlayStation Plus should now be kept in the Official PlayStation Plus thread at the top of the board.
