[QUOTE="II-FBIsniper-II"]Its getting annoying dying and being reverted to the menu. :? And is it just me, or does the partner like to get in your way a lot?BioShockOwnz

I died so many times in RE4, but I didn't die a single time in either of the RE5 demo levels. I heard the chainsaw guy on a second level was a pain, but with the combination of exploding barrels and melee, I found him to be pretty easy. I thought the girl (Sheva, or whatever...) was pretty accurate. She defended me rather well. I had to help her a couple times, but that didn't bother me, because the instant kill melee moves are nice! :D

I played the first level five times so far and I've died every time about five minutes after the big guy comes in. It's my first RE game, but it is getting frustrating because the girl always dies even though she has half her health. I haven't tried the second level yet.

The 1st level was even easier. I just killed the first wave of enemies, then when that big goof came after me, I ran to the platform that you jump off of. I jumped from platform to platform until I reached the final one. I just stood up there with Sheva and we both defended ourselves against the villagers until the chopper arrived. That way we only had to deal with the normal villagers, and not the big one.

[QUOTE="PAL360"]I hate the fact i cant walk while aiming. Everything else is great imoLeejjohno

You basically want it to be like Gears of War? There aren't many occassions when a trained soldier or special forces operative would fire while moving, unless you count shooting from a vehicle.

As a side note I feel more comfortable with the classic control scheme.

Actually a trained soldier fires and moves at the same time in many occasions. Especially in situation like in RE5, where horde of zombies or infested or what the hell they are, are running towards the soldier. A trained soldier would walk slowly backwards and shoot at the same time.

I didn't like RE5, but I didn't like RE4 either. Both have so clunky controls and characters that I don't enjoy playing them.

You jump from console to console more than anyone I know. Just remember that you also have to pay for a good many demos on PSN for the first week or so. It's called Qore.

Anyways, here's some advice I gave others that are in your kind of situation....

Did you use all 5 or so accounts you get with your Xbox 360? Microsoft gives you like 5 accounts and you get a free month of Gold with each one, so you might aswell use them. You can open a new gamertag, then download it there, and then play it using your normal gamertag.BioShockOwnz

Yeah, you just have to set up a new XBL account with a new gamertag and email address (I just use hotmail, because it's quick for me).BioShockOwnz

Wait so I open a new account under a new gamertag meaning I'll have two accounts on my 360(new gamertag + normal gamertag)? Then when the month of xbl is up I can just delete my new gamertag?

And what the hell you mean jump from console to console more than anyone?

What platfrom are you talking about? Edit: Nevermind, I found it. When I tried this last time, the action button didn't pop up.

I enjoyed the demo alot. The new shooter controls are great, and I like the new inventory system. Sheva is a real step up from Ashley, thanks to superior A.I and weapons. Some people on this board said they've had problems with aiming.... I've had none whatsoever since I put it on the highest sensitivity. People should also keep in mind that this game isn't supposed to get scary until later--much like RE4. Were you really scared at the beginning of RE4? Because I sure wasn't. The only scary parts in that game were when it was dark and a zombie creeped up on you from behind. The earlier RE games weren't scary as well.

Some things in the demo were a little buggy, but I enjoyed it a good deal. Not the best, but not the worst.

Can't wait to check it out.

[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Did you guys play RE4? Because this is exactly like it. It seems like you guys didn't know what to expect, so that leads me to believe you've never played RE4.PBSnipes

Like I said, the difference is RE5's focus on action. RE4 was such a great game because it balanced out it's action sequences with tension -- because your resources were so limited and even the weakest enemy could take a good chunk out of your health, you were always worried about what was waiting around the next corner. You had to take your time and make smart decisions because otherwise you were going to end up wasting ammo and/or herbs/medical spray.

I suggest you play RE4 again because it did not have limited herbs and ammo. In fact it had too much.

Man I'm expecting tons of a haters ( not directed at you, you're post just made me think of it) to come in and go this games way too much like gears now with curb stomping when FYI (and anyones) you could stomp zombies since RE1 on the PS1. 4 just left it out for some reason...

Just played it (thanks again, Bio for the tip) and to me it was like RE4 in a good way. As in it evoked that same tense feeling that I got the first time I entered the Ganodo village...the trapped in the house segment specifically. As soon as the infected (do not want to call them zombies) started pouring in the room, busting through the furniture I slid in front of the windows, I instantly was reminded of when I first played RE4 how awesomely tense and clausterphobic I thought it was. Needless to say, it was a good feeling. I do hope there are a lot of segments where you get to play without the chick tagging along though. Other than that, cannot wait to get this game.

well those are just people confused about what a zombie is. if they were intelligent do you think they'd run at 2 people armed to the teeth with modern weapons? don't you think they'd crack open their fruit for grenades? maybe arm themselves? or just run & hide because they should know what happened the last 4 times? capcom saying they're not zombies is just asking you to suspend disbelief and let them try to make things interesting. what should we call them if not zombies? monsters? so silly. they act a hell of lot like zombies to me, so they're zombies. just 'different' zombies.

another glaring criticism:

wtf is up with the zombie megaphone rally? had us all laughing our **** off at my place when we just played through it. they a) don't have intelligence, b) don't have memory. how the hell do they understand him, how the hell is he actually rallying people... really kinda rips you out of the story imho... unless this is some new virus that lets people still organize rallies, lmao.

OMFG Did you seriously play through RE4 and think you wre fighting zombies? Did you watch any cut scenes or read any notes found?? Are you ****ing joking me?

[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"][QUOTE="3picuri3"] well i find that laughable i guess. i suppose you have to make things interesting but zombies that can communicate still and live in harmony just don't do it for me. personally the ammo melons / grenade melons / infinite revives / controls kill this for me though. maybe next time capcom :P maybe next time. or just stick with Dead Rising. 3picuri3

The point is that they aren't zombies. You keep saying zombies :?. They showed signs of communications, working as a group, and having full control of their motor skills in RE4. The only laughable thing I see is ammo in fruit . Quite funny indeed. Just a question: Would you like for it to control more like Gears? Or what would be your suggestions? I think anything would break the tension.

no, my fear was that they'd 'Gears' this game & in a sense they did, and that's why i hated the demo. it's too easy. ammo is all OVER the place. no challenge apart from the controls.

i've always felt that making controls convoluted in survival horror games to add to tension is weak design. at least give people the option to set their own controls - or put fewer things on modifiers if that makes sense.. all actions shouldn't require holding 2 buttons. my main gripe is that RT can't be moved off of 'locate partner' in any of the configurations, which leads me to think they're purposely making things difficult just to add difficulty to the game.. when instead, they could've taken a look at removing the nade / ammo melons.

and they'll always be zombies to me, despite their level of cognition. i just feel it introduce plot problems i outlined. if they're somewhat smart why aren't they picking up weapons other than cleavers? if you can use and operate a megaphone you sure as **** could use a gun.

Did you play 4? There was MORE ammo. And to you're gears complaints, GEARS OF WAR STEMMED FROM RESIDENT EVIL 4.

yeah, i really remember ammo dropping from fruit. guess i'm just a lot better at the game this time around, or you're totally wrong. I'll go with number 2 based on the number of other people saying RE5=easy mode, kthx. and please. gears did not stem from re4. re5 did however talk time & time again about gears and how it was influencing their design & controls, but apparently not enough to make them non-convoluted. and they're zombies. period.

Game-world wise, I have absolutely no idea why they stop upon getting close to you. :P

From a gameplay standpoint though, they stop upon getting close to you to compensate for your inability to move 'n shoot. The enemies are capable of running unlike the traditional Resident Evil games because the environments are much more spacious and it'd be too easy if you could run around without a scratch.

I know why the devs made it that way. ;) I just wanted to point out how silly it looked at the beginning of the second level to have the enemies run down the hill at me and then stop immediately when they got within five feet. :P

I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to have to baby sit Sheva and complicate the weapon switching. Those two additions conspire to break the game. It's a shame because RE4 is one of my favorite games ever.

great, again, an inspiration. all creations come from inspiration, to say something stems from something is different than to say inspired. and RE4 wasn't the first to do that camera, sorry.

[QUOTE="dark-warmachine"][QUOTE="3picuri3"] stemming from, and being inspired by - are two totally different things3picuri3
What about Gears' over-the-shoulder view? very similar to RE4

great, again, an inspiration. all creations come from inspiration, to say something stems from something is different than to say inspired. and RE4 wasn't the first to do that camera, sorry.

So, what's the difference between stemmed and inspired? and what games had the over-the-shoulder view before RE4? just curious.

Anyone else find this demo hard? I was able to beat the first section due to the time limit. But I always get killed by that chainsaw guy in the shanty village. It's like he never dies no matter how much I shoot him!

stemmed implies a direct correlation, the analogy is 'growing from something, or part of the same' (stem, plant, etc.). cliffyb saying he was inspired by RE camera does not imply the game 'grew out of' RE. 3rd person over the should camera pre RE4? you might be right.. i'm looking up games right now that i thought had it. find it hard to believe 2005 was the first....
