What are you talking about ? X360 has lower setting plenty of other stuff.

There's nothing next gen about X360, it doesn't even have a actual sun in the Witcher 2.

Bebi_vegeta

xbox 360 version has next gen lighting, PC has a bloom instead of that

Check it out, it may destroy the little dream world PC gamers live in, but is a fact

Digital Foundry has all the pics to prove it

Next gen lighting ? Yes because X360 has next gen hardware.

Also, can you show me a sun in the X360 version ? I really wonder where the heck they get the lighting source... oh wait it's next gen, don't need no sun.

Damage control wont save the day in this situation

PC simply has last gen bloom, something PC people used to laugh at when the first launch console games used it back in 2005

Xbox 360 has next gen proper lighting, a light source and proper shadows on charatcers, that also DO NOT GLOW !!! LOL

PC is laughable, that is all

Duh, its so the browser actually works, i mean, what good is looking at porn on a console when you can only have 1 tab open before it crashes.

I doubt the PS4 will use up to 1 GB at launch. They probably just added excess to avoid the RAM issues they had with PS3.

Of course it's true. Takes quite a bit to multi task like that. hence why the PS4 uses a gig. PS4 has a bunch of new features added like background downloading etc. so it needed the beefy RAM

Well it's just stereo camera, on system level it will probably only track move lights, but the way video motion is proceed could be done on game level as there different techniques to track different stuff

Not really. It's still 8GB of GDDR5. My laptop has 8GB of RAM with maybe 1GB allocated to Windows 7 and background programs but I don't list the specs as 7GB of RAM. No reason to stop saying 8GB GDDR5 based on that.

Seriously if Sony keeps coming with the great news like this, they might reach ps2 level of success with the ps4 launch. Just announce a good prize, and people will definitely jump in(also less shooters and more rpg/adventure and platformer please:oops: )

But the PC version looks better

lostrib

If you like garbage last gen bloom and lighting, without actual light source and shadows, sure PC is "better"

For the next gen lighting, there is only the xbox 360 version though

I though PC gamers liked next gen lighting and not garbage bloom, seems this is not the case

Someone dig up that screenshot from the email someone sent to a CDProjektRed dev saying the PC version was also updated with the same stuff as the 360 port. clyde46

And back to reality, there is no such thing, PC never got the new lighting as Digital Foundry clearly confirmed in their last paragraph in the article

PC did get updated with the new stuff of Enchanced Edition, BESIDES the new lighting though, because that would mean changing the whole PC engine and they simply did not do it

Denial is a strong force

Digital Foundry confirmed the ENCHANCED PC version they played DID NOT have the new xbox 360 lighting

That's a gig more than I thought they would have.

I was figuring about 2 gigs for the OS and whatnot, 6 gigs shared for the games. That's plenty.

For 1080p you only really need 2 gigs for GPU and I can't think of a single PC game that takes more than 3 gigs of ram when it's running on a 64 bit machine. Even the big ones like Shogun 2, ArmA 3, Planetside 2.

Either way, the RAM won't be what limits the PS4 any time soon.

They however never state how much memory will be allocated for streaming/recording. So if background tasks and OS is allocating 1gb I would think along with the other features 2-3gb might be typical usage with all features +OS. So 5-6 gb will be for the game cache and video.

WTF....lo Sytem and OS cover background task like streaming, what the hell run background task on pc? Oh yeah is the OS windows,so if windows require 2gb that include background task. You were owned big time since you claim many times that most of the RAM would be for OS and features.lol

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"] AWW someone's in denial that Pc version didnt get the same enhancements. and that review was non EE Pc version vs 360 EE version And they state PC version is overall much better lookinglostrib

After they updated, they had the EE PC version obviously, did you even read what i posted above ?

look at that next gen lighting:

360_shadows.png

it's so next gen, it doesnt need shadows

Obviously you dont know what shadow is, because i clearly see shadows

Quit lying. The 360 version is missing a lot of shadows.

As far as I know, the X720 will be using more RAM for it's OS because of Kinect.

RR360DD

That's what I was just attempting to explain to the alt fanboy a second ago.

I'm sure the RAM allocation will be in the same neighborhood, but I'm not worried about ituntil I know more about the machine itself.

I'm an alt? You really are an idiot

No, you are an idiot!

DENIAL! 2d tree with no shadow, worse textures,... missing shadows namely on the walkway

The removed some of the dithered terrible and laughable PC shadows and let less with vastly better quality

It is just a trade off and i prefer it that way TBH, who wants many terrible looking shadows ? (only PC gamers i guess, that also love bloom than next gen lighting)

Plus is all kinds of funny that we moved to new pics, since the pics i posted look 1000x more next gen than PC

LOL, so much (crappy) damage control

Man Ty, doesn't it feel odd when these troll accounts from back in the day some how become credible in the eyes of these new kids on the block of SW? Man it's like when someone tried to emulate that PS3 threadmill thread with the shitty WiiU. :(

I saw that thread, lmao!

[QUOTE="ShadowriverUB"][QUOTE="I_can_haz"]Are you an idiot? How is this ownage on the cows? 1GB of RAM is miniscule for an OS. Especially one that is supposed to last for 5-8 years on average. They'll make numerous updates to the OS over time. Using less than 1GB would be a huge mistake on their part. They need to think about the future an any OS additions they might add over the years.

I_can_haz

With such amount of ram they have more space to menoover then in with PS3, i mean if Crysis 3 runs on 256MB of this gen consoles OS which is not memoery demending. should be easy, also Android can do a lot in background with 1GB of ram

Very true but I'm not judging RAM based on nowadays features, I'm basing it on future unseen additions to the OS. Who knows what the next big thing will be in entertainment that Sony will want to incorporate into PS4's OS :P. It's always best to have way more RAM than you will ever need IMO and I think Sony thinks the same way.

They can use trickery :) that i bring Crysis 3 example, if uber heavy game can fit in 256MB of RAM so it same OS can use trickery to fit in 1GB if space will start to run out. PS3 in-game XMB is also example of that, they probably need to fi that thing in less then 50MB, thru it does not give lot of options to player it give everything that games need, so if you compare that 50MB to 1GB you can see how plenty space it is. Also things can me loaded and unloaded if they needed or not, for example game triggers trophy, it load program responsible for managing them and unload once it's done and free up space for different operations that are queued up, same with UI you load only stuff to RAM thats needed for specific menu, unloads once it's not needed. Console OS is comparible with what Android, mostly handling background communications with services if Android can do a lot in 256MB then 1GB should be planty + some game optional feature could be done on Game RAM, for example mentioned camera operations, why waste system RAM for it if it's not always used?

 You are correct. 1GB is indeed a large amount of RAM, this gen is going to be awesome.

I did before when I ran my internet business, eh I don't honestly notice much of a difference speed wise.

#tooLazy.

Speed doesn't bother me, my internet and PC is fast enough for the browser not to be make a difference. I prefer using FF because of the add-ons. Adblock, Ghosty etc.

Unneeded IMO with 7gigs the RAM will never be bottle-necked but the CPU, GPU can still be and will be. IMO they just put 8 gigs because M$ said they were, but MS is using windows 8 in their OP system which is a RAM hog. 7 gigs is overkill IMO for the CPU and GPU they're using I'll be surprised if 1 game net Gen uses all that RAM even once.

trollhunter2

its not an overkill, more like a save future?

No it's overkill.
