It's nothing to do with software, sadly. It's due to price, marketing and PR. The PS3 isn't selling. Simple as that.

1. xbox left a bad taste in their mouth

2. shooters = xbox

3. bluedragon is not going to make them think that 360 is a rpg system or variety.

4. Good games is all about preference, GEARS of wars is good for us, but not good enough for them.

This is something i've only come to realise recently. There are plenty of threads on sales and what-not, but i dont think people around system wars have a perspective on just how bad the PS3 is doing in Japan

This isn't a simple slump. The Playstation 3 has an established trend of eight to ten thousand units a week.

Whereas the Xbox 360 has simply failed to turn around the poor standing on the original xbox, Sony have done so much more in somehow managing to turn around complete dominance into absolute failure.

This is pretty much Japan in a nutshell as far as console sales go. What do people think? Can Sony fix this?

blue dragon got 37/40 in famitsu. isnt that the same score that forza 2 got? the number of sales they wanted to have in japan for BD was 200,000, but it only sold about 180,000. they were close on the sales they wanted to achieve and for a system that is dead it did pretty well.

Because it's a brilliant game. It didn't sell systems though. People who owned the 360 already bought it; but not many bought an xbox for it. At that point, the only AAA JRPG on a next-gen machine, but people didn't go nuts to buy an xbox to play it. It is foolish to believe people will suddenly start dropping huge wedges of cash on the PS3 as soon as RPGs are released.

oh you do not think he picked the worst sales numbers of the ps3 while it has been out on accident? when we have seen it in the 40k range a week when games like gundam muso came out. that is why his thread is faulty. what JA is showing us is a trend meaning JA will not buy a console unless games are out for it. so if games like gundam gave a sale surge for the ps3, then what makes you think FFXI , Lost odessey, WKS wont do the same for the 360 and PS3? alfy13

I agree with the topic. If a Japanese product like the PS3 is failing like an American product like the Xbox, in JAPAN, you can definately consider that as a failure.

That could be it. Believe it or not that was the actual point of the thread. All i've got is two fanboys yelling on about Final Fantasy and how it'll single-handedly turn the console around.

Now if the ps3 has FF 13 and DQ9 maybe it would close the gap alot but the wii is just owning in sales.I can't see that changing unless it's a fad and sales slow down alot in 2008 or the ps3 does a major price cut. The 360 is dead in japan and sales worldwide have fallen into a slump at the current pace even the ps3 will catch the 360 xmas 2008.
