2. Plenty of people use party chat to chat with their friends.

I won't get this for $60, $20 on the other hand... if it bombs, it'll probably be $20 or less by end of year, at which point I may pick it up, and for that price it'll be worth it. Then again, I'd also need reassurance that people are still online playing it.

Not likely. Its sales worldwide are increasing. Its rising in the ranks on Amazon since the test fire beta.

Like HD graphics (graphics don't matter -> OMG HD MARIO!), online shooters (Halo and COD are boring garbage for kiddies -> OMG THE CONDUIT!), regular controller (motion controls are the future, lol at old PS/Xbox pads -> OMG CLASSIC CONTROLER PRO, BEST FOR SMASH!), media content (consoles are for gaming, lol at media boxes -> OMG NETFLIX!), you'll do a complete about face as soon as Nintendo introduce it and then act like it was always great.

I don't ask every game to be like every other game. Would super mario galaxy has been amazing in HD? Hell yeah. Am I going to miss out on a great game simply because it's not HD? Hell no. I accept a game for what it is. And I had a PS3 and a 360 so i wasn't missing out just because I enjoyed a few choice games on the Wii.
If Splatoon gets chat I'm going to shrug my shoulders and keep playing it. And you'll continue not buying it because voice chat is just an excuse. You'll find another one soon after.

It's a multiplayer game where you shoot people. A game where you play online.
There is a way to speak to your teammates in other shooters (which is what this game is), in other racing games (which is what Mario kart is), in other fighting games (which is what smash is), and shit these days mini game collections (which is what Mario Party is).
There is no defense for this feature not being there

Otherwise no one said anything about this game doesn't have killstreaks, this game doesn't have mechs, this game doesn't have vehicles, this game doesn't have a 100 guns, this game doesn't have bubble shields, this game doesn't have a ski mechanic, this game doesn't have strafe jumping, this game doesn't launch pads, no one knocked it for missing gameplay mechanics from other games. It's being knocked for a basic ass feature and recently barely any fucking content on launch day.
These are not up to opinion or "oh this doesn't bother me", that is objectively doing less than the standard. You are arguing against a fact.
