Standard Walking Dead formula:
-Strong opener. Gives you a sense of false hope that this season will be properly paced and built upon this time around.
-Characters are split up for some reason, likely a stupid one. So now it's time to give revolving door characters their own episodes because that doesn't constitute shitty narrative structure.
-Characters reunite for terribly underwhelming mid-season finale, and you ask yourself why you're still bothering keeping up.
Repeat this step for the second half of the season, and there you go! If they're lucky, they'll have a three good to great paired with 13 mediocre/shitty ones.
The only reason why I'm bothering for the second half is because I'm interested in Jeffery Dean Morgan playing such and such.
Two things
A: more at eleven works when you are stating something obvious, the mans taste in things isn't exactly some public domain knowledge, so pls go
B: That final area in Uncharted 2 is pretty fucking weak, that an entire lazarvich fight is trash, even by shooter boss fight standards. Added bonus Alan Wake ends with a shitty ass Tornado. His entire top 5 is weak endings, the video games.
Sorry
Sam Lake likes games that don't have an extremely shitty half marred by awful combat scenarios that have thoroughly been surpassed by later games in its genre and don't have awful final bosses because he likes ones with good final bosses like Uncharted 2 and Alan Wake, more at eleven, water is wet, the Island is trash, sky is blue, Godfather 3 was the best Godfather.
That shitty yet somehow still good show Walking Dead
This is false.
That shitty show Walking Dead
This is correct.
It's the best shitty show I've ever seen.

Season 6 started okay, but it just dovetailed so drastically. Negan's one of the main reasons I want to keep watching still, that and I want to see how the All Out War storyline pans out.
Sorry

All of those are completely implausible statements.
Looking at what Sam Lake calls his #1 (Uncharted 2) and looking at his previous games, I think his admiration comes mostly from the fact it's so much more...advanced in terms of presentation compared to his old works. Like, compare the funhouse levels from Max Payne 2 or those horrible platforming dream sequences of Max Payne 1 then compare it to any section of Uncharted 2. Hell, look at Half-Life 1 and 2; look at how 'cutscene mode' and 'game mode' in them are one and the same. Meanwhile, Alan Wake is stuck behind traditional game presentation and suffers from it.
i.e. Uncharted is the game he wished he made.
@jg4xchamp: nah, Uncharted 2 gets even better halfway through on the train, Resi 4 is like "**** you here's a shootout with zombies because that's not what made the first half amazing at all"
halfway through is the castle you are high, Uncharted 2 peaks at the train. It's all downhill from there. In no world is the Island taking a back seat to how pathetic Shambala is as a string of gameplay sequences.
@jg4xchamp: the monastery is still there and it easily beats the island and the latter half of the castle, not to mention it capitalizes on the vertical combat of Uncharted.
I think you are mixing up bullshit using a crane in the island as a "good combat scenario." It's ok, it's what separates you from Sam Lake, an auteur.

Exactly, bad taste.

Ridiculous, I'm Picasso, the Dark Souls of human beings.
@jg4xchamp: I can see you being the Dark Souls of human beings, you peaked quite a few years ago, you're slow, your arguments are barely there and often requires others to fill them in, and your ineptitude with the PC is so bad you forgot the gloriousness that consoles bring with things like Uncharted 2.
This looks kind of like fun.

Sam Lake has bad taste.
Uncharted 2 being his best game is just ....weird. i mean it doesn't fit there, in that Top 5. If you've watched the video you know already that he was kinda hesitant when it came to Uncharted 2 ...he was like " since you asked me about this here and right now uhh uhh Uncharted...2 ... uhhh...ND is phenomenal at storytelling ..." just that , the whole interview was weird :D He said that this top 5 changes with time tho

They wanted to put a trademark on "react" so they'd get money every time someone wanted to upload a video on youtube with that term. Plan backfired on them
The Witcher 3's person-in-distress quests are so broken, it's not even funny.
Also, RIP Dave Mirra... It's so sad to lose so many people in such a short amount of time...
Exactly, bad taste.
Can't refute that, no.
Think he'd be better suited to movies than Kojima. For all the shit Kojima gets, he's fond of gameplay systems as much as he is making feature-length movies. Lake, meanwhile, I get the feeling is just interested taking his ideas for action movies and turning them into games.
Should I take a break between MGS1 and 2 in my MGS marathon? I'm thinking about it, since I've constantly been playing at least one Metal Gear game since the beginning of January.

Well thats dump and no surprise it backfired on them, they must be truly stupid for thinking otherwise

I can attest to this. All of Shambala can be thrown in a ditch and nothing of value would be lost. That was just a hugely disappointing segment in its own.
Just watched a video on Persona 4 b/c everyone loves it and thought maybe I should try and see what it was about. Yea that was some money I just saved.
Come at me weeabros! I know you think I deserve it! :P
@mems_1224: @jg4xchamp:How good is it? Doubt will run on my work comp (the first one barely did) and its a bit of a monstrous size. Have it installed and ready to fire up at home though.

Xcom? Its really cool so far. A lot faster paced. All the missions I've played so far have timers. You have a lot more customization options for your soldiers too. It kinda runs like shit though. Doesn't feel well optimized. Also, no controller support is a huge bummer for me because the controls were great on Enemy Unknown
@mems_1224: Yea Xcom, do u have a steam controller? Looking forward to trying it out. What's your rig like? I'm using a 970 and i5, can't believe that doesn't cope with it.

Pretty much, the game's a bell curve. Builds momentum and keeps getting better up until the train set piece, after that it goes downhill.

Well hey if you think you'll suck at playing something as simple as persona no wonder you enjoy playing on PC
am i doing this right? :P
@blue_hazy_basic: I have a 970, 8gb of ram and I think an I7. On the higher settings with some stuff turned down or off I'm getting like 45-60 fps and cut scenes and action shots are like 28-30. I still need to play more with the graphics settings
Hoping an extra 8 GB of ram and an SSD help then!

Genuinely never been an anime fan and the whole move to the small town, there's a murder, and you go into the TV, etc plot seems a little outside of my usual tastes shall we say :P
@Blabadon: Very well I'll keep and open mind and if a gaming window opens up maybe i'll give it a shot. But if it sucks just know that I'll be coming for you Blab :P
@blue_hazy_basic: oh no, I'll get beat up by a man and his walking cane, whatever will I do
I'd honestly just wait on it until/if you decide to get a Vita. Seeing as how long of a game it is, and how overwhelming parts of it can be at first, a handheld makes it a much more digestible game, especially if you're not already into it.
That and the Vita version is better anyways.
@blue_hazy_basic: In all seriousness, I detest anime, and the Persona aesthetic didn't seem very appealing. The game still manages to be great, and I do think you should give it an honest try at least once. If after playing it for a bit you still can't get into it, fair's fair, but you definitely should give it a go.
@blue_hazy_basic: This has already been said in this thread, but I guess I'll weigh in anyway. I don't care much for the anime art style (or the overly goofy direction style), and I was completely certain I wouldn't be able to get into Persona, because the series seems to ride on that. I gave P4G a try anyway, since I had little to play on the Vita at that time, and I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I didn't expect to enjoy it since a) it's apparently excessive anime-like direction style didn't appeal to me b) I was under the impression it was largely a dating sim c) I've never been a big fan of high school settings. The excessive anime-like direction style turned out to be charming in most cases and annoying yet tolerable in others. The dating sim complaint, I realized, was a gross generalization, and it was only a fraction of the entire game. The high school setting was handled very well, so I was happy with it. All in all a great game.
