they DO NOT have surges in sales over 2 years into it....
Famiking
OMFG, IF I HAVE TO HEAR THAT AGAIN, THERE WILL BE BLOOD (caps)If really, really, reaallllllllly have to reinstate myslef like a bajillion times, so much so that my post count has doubled:
Launch 2006: Wii sells well in the 150k-350k range.
Dawn of 2007: Average sales of 40k-80k, flactuating due to shipment arrivements and shortages.
Early 2007 - Mid 2007: Lots of game releases keep consumers interested, Wii's peak. 70-100k sales average.
Late 2007, pre-holidays: Sales crash. As fast as: 70k -> 50k -> 40k -> 33k -> 28k -> 24k. The fad is over. This period entirely nullifies your "2 year" point, and your lack of recognition of this period shows you don't know what you're talking about.
i remember that time, Nintendo was holding wii's back for the holidays. it wasnt a sales crash
Holidays 2007: Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Mario & Sonic propel the Wii to 250k sales at its holiday peak.
Dawn and Early 2008: Sales remain high because of SSBB and looming Mario Kart. Sales were 100k at SSBB, and got to 50k at around MKWii period. Failed to break 100k in Golden Week, with 75k before Golden Week ends.
sales remain high because of looming games... have there been any big releases for the wii lately? no. doesnt that explain slower sales?
Mid-late 2008: Constant sales decline, no matter what game is released, Wii sales continued to decline until they hit the 20k region. This period is also proof that Wii never had this non-existant "2 year surge".
no games
Holidays 2008: Wii Music and Animal Crossing flop. Wii peaks at a disappointing 150k, only games that do above average are Taiko and Joysound. Huge decline from 2007 holiday season.
still massacred the competition with no games
Dawn of 2009: Sales down 80% from the 100k Wii was reaching in 2008, Wii finds it difficult to even hit 30k.
still no games
A whole year of terrible sales, that tells a lot about the people who still think it's still not a fad. It only lived for a short period, and died for extended periods of time.
Conclusion: The Wii "craze" only lasted for 9 months at most in total, not 2 years. And hopefully this is the last time I have to state this, or there is no point in arguing.
