Hmm... After having got up to speed on this, I can say that Hepler's attitudes are killing the games that we love and enjoy.
But, at the same time, people need to stop flaming and writing death threats. Over a video game.
I guess a few people here knew about that. Seeing all that makes me want to create a troll account on Bioware forums :P well i never really focus in this kind of issues im more into what im interested on.[QUOTE="the-obiwan"]its time for me to visit my lovely bioware forums and i did not know anything about this at all wow im amazed of this woman o_OMiroku32

I don't agree with anything in GS's article. It's written by a woman, so maybe that's why.percechah i see what you did there.. Machism ? thats the word right ?
[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]
This real?

I get the feeling it is...
From what I've seen on Reddit, it's not. What she said in response was also immature, but she was only defending herself....And people actually white-knight this individual?[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]She was the one that said that everyone is just jealous of her because she has a vagina and a job in the gaming industry. Shinobishyguy
What the hell?
this was after being called a cancer, called a w******...etc Most every thing out of Bioware and hepler came after the onslaught not before.all I can say is hepler had every right to say what she did her words were taken out of context and the interview itself that sparked all this was heavily edited to make her look bad on reddit that article has since been taken down but the amount of abuse she took in the replies to that reddit posting she had every right to say what she did....Then when even more abuse was piled on and other bioware employee's started telling these people to go f*** t*** s****** those people deserved it its not about PR or professionalism when such rampent hate and harrasment happens then those people deserve to get called whatever they are called even by people that are ""supposed"" to be professionals. I can tell you right now if you were to call up any customer support and say some of the stuff that was being said by users about hepler you wouldn't get any better treatment.
What the...actual...f---...
I'm quite "WTF?"ed at the moment.
The GS article is even more confusing as the writer has no clue of what she's saying.
But her "wants" in games are...a "fast forward" button to skip combat and forced homosexual scenes?
And her answers to a nerdrage outbreak is...a remark about having a vagina and a job in the gaming industry?
I don't know if my laughter is genuine or a defense mechanism against brain damage.
1.forced homosexual scenes was made up by users. 2.she did talk about a fast forward button and it makes absolutely logical sense most games come with a skip dialog option yet force us to play the game why not the ability to skip to anypart you want to play and enjoy. What the...actual...f---...

I think having a game dedicated to just dialoge and cutscenes could be pretty good. You start off in an action cutscene and when it ends you are given the choice of several different lines your character can say. Based on the choice you make a new cutscene starts and goes a different direction than if you had chosen a different line. Maybe you want to align yourself with a certain powerful individual so as the game progresses you try to wedge yourself in an alliance with them. If you wanted to get really complicated you could add a financial element, love interest, moral dilemmas, and many other things.
I can't help but think about A Game of Thrones. A majority of that series is dialage and characters interacting with each other. There really isn't THAT much action, but it is considered some of the best fantasy ever. A game that is designed like that book series would be amazing, as long as the dialoge and writing are top notch. It would also be really cool if there was voice recognition so you could actually say the lines instead of just clicking a button.
Although, stuff like this shouldn't be put into an action game like DA or ME.
...And people actually white-knight this individual? What the hell?Shinobishyguy
Yes, obviously that one response invalidates any criticism of the gaming community's reaction to whatever this is about (I honestly cannot comprehend it. I keep trying to think of what could cause that sort of response regarding a video game, but my brain just weeps and shuts down).

Nevermind then.
And no, that doesn't make half lick of sense. LOL "absolutely logical sense". You don't want gameplay, go watch TV shows.
knew nothing about this... but the vagina and job bits pretty much summed it up for me. thanks for the laugh.

It was a stupid comment to be sure, but I don't see the point of making a statement with even a hint of "she was asking for it" about it. If people are going to rail against you with that level of vitriol for some ill-defined reasons that have to do with *video games*, you get carte blanche to say whatever the f*ck you want in response.
The gaming community doesn't shock me anymore in just how low they can resort to. Still, this is pretty pathetic.drinkerofjuice
You can say that about any community on the Internet. There is a lot of unpleasantness out there.
Well, they fvcked up a promising IP by releasing a crappy consolized action-RPG by the name of Dragon Age II with zero depth and terrible, god-awful writing, and they wasted money on a failed MMO that proved to be nothing more than a WoW-clone in the Star Wars universe. BioWare deserves all the hate they're getting. Worst dev of 2011 by FAR, and a huge fall from such a high place. princeofshapeirVery much agreed but then again they were never really good just way over hyped,
1. The woman said stupid things.
2. The internet blows stupid things way out of proportion.
3. Gamers in general have the maturity of a two-year old.
How did anyone not see this coming? It's not justifiable in any way, but I'm shocked that this kind of response took other people by surprise.

I don't have the maturity of a two year old. Go figure... Back during DA2's release, I hung around the BSN as part of the angry mob that ripped DA2 to shreds. But, never, ever did we resort to namecalling or singling out certain developers for being Jews.

Hence "in general." I didn't say you specifically, now did I? And considering the reaction, I think my point stands. I bashed DA2 on the BioWare forums, too, but I directed my complaints at the game. um thats exactly what you do....If I were to call customer service any where and call the person on the other end of the line what these people called hepler I would be hung up on its as simple as that. she wasn't called some bad words she was called bad words by thousands, as well as harrased on any service they could find her.
the oringinating article on reddit was edited to make her look bad taken out of context it was then removed before that happend people called her many horrible things and when she signed up for twitter they sought her out and called her many other horrible things and harrased her on twitter she thend replied they were jealous and even more people started harrasing her thats when certain inviduals gave the people harrasing her the same treatment they were putting out.
Hate to say this but, Bioware needs to learn to DEAL WITH IT. Pretty simple to do really.lulmont
This is just the stupidest f*cking thing I've read in a while. There's a slight difference between customer complaints and being harassed because of your relatively minor role at a developer and a comment you made eleven months ago.
Whenever I hear "Gamer Entitlement" I get annoyed. We're the people PAYING for the game. SAGE_OF_FIREAnd you have the right to NOT buy it. They don't owe you sh*t but a working copy. The fact that you spent your cash with them doesn't give you the right to act like a dickhead about everything they do that you don't like.
