BIODRONES FAIL MISERABLY
And yet one was a game from their SECONDARY team (the Mass Effect team being their primary) and one is an MMO, which is judged not by its launch but how well it does over time. You fail...and hell, ME3 will easily be in the 90's. LOL  talking about bioware as a whole here. those bastards are entirely responsible for pushing out a consolized, lifeless action-RPG that sucks ass and killed a decent IP. TOR is consistently being lambasted by players and critics as having boring, shallow writing with terrible graphics and artstyle, lackluster combat, and endgame that is worse than current WoW's. and please explain to me why you get to invent rules by saying the scores for TOR are invalid because they're reviews at launch? WoW was critically-acclaimed at launch; TOR received decent reviews but elicited an intensely negative player reaction. the game does everything WoW does but worse, and all their promises of bringing compelling narrative to MMOs falls down the toilet when the game borrows the same crappy dialogue from dragon age 2. if you want an MMO that will reinvent the wheel that will get rave reviews upon launch, look to Guild Wars 2.[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"][QUOTE="texasgoldrush"]Seriously, Hepler should fight back..... Biohaters are some of the dumbest internet posters ever....and the verbal assaults on her prove it. She's got a job working for one of the most acclaimed development studios, and the haters are the ones just siting on their ass. I bet the haters can't even write a game, let alone criticize it effectively. Hell, they and the DAO diehards are so stupid, they don't even realize that the writing team was the same in both games or that David Gaider, the lead writer of DAO and DAII, was responisble for one of the most cherished Bioware characters. And really, blaming the writers for DAII's mediocre showing is idiotic. Lets see how well you do when you are not allowed to finish your story because of an unrealitic deadline. its the same story as with Ultima iX, or KOTOR II. But oh wait, KOTOR II gets a pass because they are not from Bioware...loltexasgoldrushshe's a pathetic writer who got the job because of her husband she can't write for crap and bioware would have done better hiring hideo kojima or the author of the twilight saga stop making excuses: bioware has absolutely failed as a decent developer this year. they proved with dragon age 2 that they had lost what little innovation and artistry they had left in them. with TOR, aka WoW 2.0 with lightsabers and crappy artstyle, they finalized their mediocrity and spent millions in the process. and yet she has a job at Bioware and you don't......... Hell, I bet she is a FAR better writer than you would be. Could you do better? I don't think so. And how does DAII PROVE that they lost innovation and artistry? Nevermind the fact that the friendship rivalry system they used was quite different, and that the entire story was unique and different. The problem was that it was rushed out the door so the game was not finished. Speaking of innovation...... Hell, what if I called Baldur's Gate and Ultima VII clone in a D&D universe? Everybody is influenced by something. They are just as innovative now as they ever were.

What has gameplay to do with it? The gameplay didn't change from one zone to the other :|
"Let's just sit on our ass until a deus ex machina is pulled and let somebody who has absolutely no clue about politics decide who the next ruler will be". WTF?
And what about the whole Broodmother thing? That was the most disturbing pieces in DAO. Could have been totally avoided.

It's her ****ing job to be a writer. Of course she should be a better writer than a random guy on a forum :|

Orzammar and the Deep Roads were the worst parts of DAO...
not to mention the anders storyline crap, and how anders was an annoying character the whole da ii.
and yet those people who whine are the MINORITY, its the MINORITY that whine on the forums. Hell l if I go to WoW's forums, they whine about that game too. i guess you cannot tell the difference between the consensus and the whining minority. Nevermind the fact that TOR is also praised for its writing and gameplay, FAR more consistantly than its being blasted for it an dthat the critical response is FAR more positive than negative. And how does DAII kill the IP, last time I checked, there is a DAIII coming. And since you seem to lack gaming experience, here is an example of a game that killed a series, Ultima iX, that game was FAR worse than DAII, FAR worse.texasgoldrush
Remember what Notch said about DA3 ;) ?

So Chris metzen gets bashed all the time for runing Warcraft and Starcraft, yet no one cares and Chris takes it on the chin like a boss and accepts when he messes up
but as soon as a female writer gets bashed for ruining a game, its a big deal simply because she is female?
thats all i see here, if she didnt have a vagina that we were all "jealous" of, no one would care

If people were criticizing a BioWare game in a reasonably level headed way there wouldn't be a problem. If a bunch of people made a flood of personal attacks against Chris Metzen it would be equally disgusting.
Or in simpler terms
- I don't like the work you did on DA2, I thought the story was poorly paced and the game felt unoriginal and disappointing - Acceptable.
- You're a #@$#@ who should die. You Jew @#$ should be fired, I hate you! - Not acceptable.

it seems to me like metzen is actually a very earnest, cool guy that legitimately tries to pay attention to WoW's incessant, schizophrenic fanbase.Nevermind the fact that Anders WAS MADE to be annoying.texasgoldrush
Made to be annoying doesn't excuse the fact that the character is annoying as all hell. If I intended to smell like sh*t and roll around in horse crap then go walk the streets of Melbourne doesn't excuse the fact I smell like turd.
Consumers as well as critics have the right to call out any factors that may have irritated them in their experiences.

which is does......notice how everyone in the party in DAII, espeically Act III, thinks Anders is annoying? The people who have attacked her and those who support the abuse are what make the gaming population pathetic. Grow up.
From my experience playing Dragon Age 2, I would agree that she's not a good writer. However, making bad art shouldn't invite people to harass and degrade the artist, and there's simply no way to excuse or defend the harsh, bigoted and immature comments made against her.
Whenever I hear "Gamer Entitlement" I get annoyed. We're the people PAYING for the game. SAGE_OF_FIREu pay to play the game, u dont pay to insult ppl

I don't agree with that, and I dont think that's really the point that's being made here. The reason why Hepler is being talked about is because this came up as a concentrated flood of attacks rather than a steady stream of attacks like I'm sure Metzen (and a lot of other devs) see on a daily basis.

i too think it's actually a different case for metzen and hepler. i hope nobody mistakes my bluntness for insults, but hepler's appearance and legitimately dumb comments make her an obvious focus of hate for those who are fed up with bioware's recent failures. metzen, on the other hand, gets hate from the whiny self-entitled QQers who make it a point to react negatively to every design change in WoW, whether it be arcane missiles costing a few more mana or the talent system being rewritten for mists.and yet, you can't kill or kick Jar Jar out of the party. Anders' questline and romance ARE part of the game and a reviewer or person critiquing a piece of entertainment one should always play through all parts of the game and critique those parts which are weaker than the rest of the game.
It's like dismissing Halo as a bad game because one did not try out the multiplayer.

As for saying Dragon Age 2 is horrible due to Ander's questline and romance? That's a hyperbole, however there's also other complaints (that you don't necessarily agree with) that also contribute to people's opinions that Dragon Age 2 is sub-par/horrible.

I agree that the absolute poor level and combat design was simply atrocious. Thats not Heplers fault. Or the fact that the game was rushed and the writers could not finish adding and polishing the script. Thats not Heplers fault. Or that the game was poorly marketed? That wasn't Heplers fault. Is Hepler in my view a great writer? No, but she isn't bad either, she needs more work. Bethany is a good start, she was one of the better characters. She definitely does not deserve to get the attacks she has been getting. She has every right to fight back, in fact she did from more flaming.dragon age 2--79

DA2's problem was that EA forced BW to rush the game and BioWare had to cut corners which they have admitted. Problem wasn't in story or writing in general. Many reviewers praised the writing in DA2.

we got the correct answer...ding ding ding did you know that an entire plotline was cut out of Act I because it was rushed? This dealt with either Bethany or Hawke (if mage and Bethany dies) running from the Templars with the Deep Roads Expedition the escape. This cut lead to the idiotic scenario of templars not recognizing mages of the party. This goes to show the writing team isn't at fault, but everyone else. They did the best they could with the time they had. Making a game in a year and four months especially an RPG is just dumb. We could be talking about a far different game had it been released, say two months ago. Please Log In to post.
