Ever since the Wii has launched, it's been getting a lot of hate from the gaming community. I really fail to understand why. Is it because you are no longer the primary demographic? Is it because, God forbid, you're scared to share you favourite hobby with someone who doesn't know much about video games? Ireally fail to see it. People mock the console for having 'crappy' games, when in actuality, it has many quality titles.
Now, lets remember one thing -- The Wii was never ment to be in direct competition with the PS3 or the 360.
Thats a key point right there and I honestly think its one point people fail to see.
You will never see the big named titles, like GTAIV, Fallout 3, Metal Gear whathaveyou, Half Life, etc on the console. Its a console for open development. Its a console for developers to take risks due to low development costs and at a good chance of making a profit, to avoid a "free radical" situation ;).
So really, I don't see the hate. I can understand not liking the titles on the console, but to call them 'crap' or even worse ' shovelware' when they really aren't, is getting pretty ridiculous.
The console is here for niche games -- games like Little King's Story, No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, MadWorld, Fragile, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Etc.
Those are the games that should be used to define the console. The majority of people ignore the quality titles and seem to think all the system is made up of is this:
Open your eyes and stop being ridiculous. There is a way to go about saying you have no interest in the consoles software versus saying the software is 'crap/shovelware'.
