[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] You break the forth wall in video-games a lot. You die, you respawn, you know the exact location of the guards, of the items. I don't really see your point. We will never get to have that kind of fun again. Why, because we have to think on consoles...GeneralShowzer
its not consoles that are the problem, it was poor direction. IW developers made some poor decisions, not because of consoles but because those decisions didn't work out. I bet PC gamers are going to start crying over HR as well. The first game had its glaring flaws as well and I think pC fans overrate the game. Just because you didn't like it, doesn't mean we overrate it. Had flaws sure, but it was amazing... What is the problem then? What possible reason did they have to remove the inventory and design that circular formation of item pick (so you can choose items with analogue sticks), why make the environments small and linear ( lack or ram), why remove the hacking (no keyboard) I liked the game a lot, but its not the best game ever like some PC fans say. Poor combat mechanics, poor voice acting, buggy, inbalanced gameplay (oh god the Dragon Tooth Sword) invincible NPCs, poor characterization for the human characters (the sequel is better in this regard), poor pacing (many levels are filler), and weak finale. It was more about the ideas of the gameplay more than the execution.
In fact, the sequel has certain aspects that were stronger than in the first, better characterization and a better paced plot (and the game designers for DX3 agree other than the protagonist), and more environment variety (they were small, but definitely not linear). The lives of the common people were also portayed better in the second. But the gameplay is indeed worse because of poor gameplay decisions and when they streamlined, they exposed the series weaknesses more.
