It's the evolution so to speak of developers. Start small on PC ---> Get big on PC ----> Go to multiplatform development ----> Forget PC -----> Slander PC.
We as hermits see this time and time again. There's nothing we can do about it! Consolization confirmed! Oh well! Would still probably be an ace game :D
im honestly wondering what the big deal is, when the game was announced cd projekt made clear that they were interested in consoles and they would see how it went. They just said that again in that article and that they ran a few tests on the consoles.stop crying hermits. console gamers like games too.

It's the vicious cycle :P
[QUOTE="rpgs_shall_rule"]How do you figure? They say they're just taking out the repetitive "kill x monsters" quests, which may or may not be a good thing, however, all mainstream games seem to be following this "streamlining" trend. It's not a confirmation either way.mrmusicman247
End of article...
'But what about a console version' I hear you cry. Well, the news is definitely good, despite the depressing failure of the original version to make it to the 360 or PS3. "It's the first console project we would like to do," Bartkowicz confirms. "We need to do it in house. In the end we decided not to do it outsourced. We've been running some tests, and putting a small part of the game just to make sure we're not cheating anyone. We can show it to you, it is possible." Sadly, we ran out of time to see it for our own eyes, but the fact that CD Projekt is happy to go on the record and say that it's happening is good news. In fact, the game's eventual transition to console has been planned from day one. "You can playThe Witcher 2with joypad - it's implemented. The whole interface is designed with console in mind, in fact."
Damnit. Somehow managed to miss two pages there :( This kinda sucks, I was hoping for moar hotkeys and stuff. Hope they at least do the PC version properly then cut out graphics/scale/content for the console versions instead of the other way around.[QUOTE="taterfrickintot"]im honestly wondering what the big deal is, when the game was announced cd projekt made clear that they were interested in consoles and they would see how it went. The Witcher 2 is due for release on PC on May 17th 2011. Console versions will follow at a later date.

That last sentence in the article is no confirmation of nothing whatsoever.
IGN is just assuming that CD Projeckt already decided to do a console version later on,wich is not confirmed at all.
Basically, all you did was create a thread that mislead some people into thinking that The Witcher 2 on consoles is a sure thing, when nothing changed since last year´s statements from the developers.
Nice job.

Yeah, they confirmed nothing. Console versions are still in limbo, for all we know.
[QUOTE="dc337"]
Next-gen consoles haven't even been announced. It makes more sense to cash in on current gen consoles.
Hakkai007
Yah but I can already imagine console gamers saying the game looks like crap because of the hardware it has to run on.
Remember those buildings in the Crysis 2 multiplayer level?
Well that is how The Witcher 2 will probably be on consoles since its a large scale game.
The horror, the horror. Whatever will you do? Can you go on?

True, but I'd say it's a bit more than that now. They are actively working on it, albeit in testing and stuff.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-11-25-will-the-witcher-2-come-to-console

"We've openly said our technology supports multiplatform," Iwiński said. "On the release of the PC version, we'll see.
"We know how many players, especially in the UK as well as in the US, play on Xbox 360. We are pretty good at maths. That's all I can say for now."
he then goes on to say
"We already have performed a lot of tests. We're doing a reality check every half a year or so. We take a level from the game and we try to put it inside our engine, because it's console capable on Xbox 360 and PS3.
"It's doable."
It's almost the exact same statement
it also could be something the developers said that he didn't print........however, it is very likely that it will be on consoles.texasgoldrush
It was very likely that The Witcher 1 was going to be on consoles but look where that turned out.
Heck they even had trailers and screenshots of the console version of The Witcher 1.

Also this job posting is a hint.... http://tw2.thewitcher.com/job/en/senior-programmertexasgoldrushThat´s very much the same situation as Diablo 3. And was with Warcraft 3. And World of Warcraft. Also with World in Conflict. Not to mention the 100% confirmed console version(full of screenshots and all) for The Witcher...
None released on consoles.
Just because they have or are hiring some console programmers that doesn´t mean the game will have console versions at all.
that is hilarious. that was one of the only PC games I was interested in this year and its coming to the consoles. if Diablo 3 comes to consoles I am I going to die laughing.

hinted by an interview http://oyun.thgtr.com/node/33827 It has already been known for well over a year that they have intentions on bringing the game to the consoles...this however doesn't translate to the game being announced for the 360 and ps3. Even if the game does get ported it would be a good while after the PC version is released. in other words..don't get your hopes up too high until they start openly demoing the game on the consoles.what's so funny? :?that is hilarious. that was one of the only PC games I was interested in this year and its coming to the consoles. if Diablo 3 comes to consoles I am I going to die laughing.

the PC almost has no real exclusives left casey  I mean honestly..what else is there besides Diablo 3? Once that gets annouced for the 360,ps3, and Wii... PC fanboys will have nothing to play for the entire year

Fanboys have a search filter on their eyes. They can't see anything positive about platforms that they aren't biased for.

i found that thread very entertaining
apparently games need to have million dollar budgets and be forced down our throats with advertisements to be considered great.
Poeple stop freaking out. The PC version will launch first in its intended fourm. After that they can have time to down grade it for the consloes.
In fact, the game's eventual transition to console has been planned from day one. "You can playThe Witcher 2with joypad - it's implemented. The whole interface is designed with console in mind, in fact."

SON OF A *****. I think I might just pull my CE preorder. I had to get a few mods for Oblivion before I got a decent interface. I'm all for bringing it to consoles, but FFS if you're gonna port PC -> consoles do it the Torchlight way. Make a whole new interface after making one for PC. We better get a demo for this.

Open world nature? Are you kidding me? You're forced to go through story chapters and the areas are not that large.
Hakkai007
Oh really?
They even said there were only a few loading screens throughout the whole game.
And yes this is real time gameplay.
That looks great and all but please tell me what by that gif shows its a large scale game? Can he just jump on the bridge and start swimming? Because it looks to me he is forced to go down that one path.
