Both are overrated. U1 i found to be rubbish, i couldn't even finish it. but i loooved U2 however i don't think its Game of the generation.
Mediocre story Way to linear Boring combat bad stealth It's just Overratedthah-dudeok, give us ur idea of a great game.
neither of the two are overrated. both are awe inspiring games. Maybe if you started gaming this gen and don't game on the PC.. :P[QUOTE="Grawse"]
Uncharted 2 isn't though.
godsendBLISS
if uncharted is overrated, then so is gears, zelda, killzone, halo, etc. give me a break. by the way, i love all of the games i just mentioned including uncharted one and two. none of those games are overrated. just enjoy the games. sheesh.
It is overrated, but still good. It was my 2009 GOTY but people act like it's the best game this gen and stuff when it's not. And people seem to think that since the game has likable characters that means the story is good, but the story is pretty average. The combat is really fun and there's some nice cinematic moments in it though.
Actually, you're right, all of those games are overrated, except for maybe some of the old Zelda games.if uncharted is overrated, then so is gears, zelda, killzone, halo, etc. give me a break. by the way, i love all of the games i just mentioned including uncharted one and two. none of those games are overrated. just enjoy the games. sheesh.

Maybe if you started gaming this gen and don't game on the PC.. :Phahahaha. no just no. both are pretty nice games. excellent blends of action, narrative, platforming, and not mention quality of sound and graphics. this forum is the most critical array of gamers in the universe, and that's not a compliment.:?[QUOTE="Grawse"]

Best story driven action adventure I've ever played, MGS4 gives it a run for its money though. Exciting story, interesting characters, fun gameplay, looks amazing.tomarlynthis. and thank you. a gamer who has great taste.:)

No, but it's a blanket term used to bash something without backing up why they feel that way. Not saying everyone does it, but TC is definitely a perfect example.
The second is a great game, definitely AAA quality, but I have to agree, it's overrated. A lot of people were complaining when Demon's Souls won GotY over it. I can't believe DS lost GotY on so many other sites to UC2, I thought DS was a much, much better game. I haven't played the first but the general consensus is that UC2 is better.
I just thought it was all flash (superb flash) with little substance. It's probably because it mixes various things, & I compare each aspect to a game that uses that aspect as its core mechanic. Assassins Creed does better parkour, Gears of War does much better TPS etc.
[QUOTE="thah-dude"]Mediocre story Way to linear Boring combat bad stealth It's just OverratedtommyasUncharted 2 on the other hand deserves all the praise it gets. CoD series, now thats whats overrated to the max.
True, CoD series is overrated much worse.
But UC2 is still overrated.
How can a game with such cliche characters, average writing and a predictable and cliche story be perfect like everyone says it is?
Let's look at the facts:
The game has a bad story, cliche characters and average writing. It's like a Hollywood movie, all flash, no real substance.
The game has an average multiplayer, it's nothing great and it's not bad, but it's not balanced either(looking at you see through the wall perk), so that knocks points off.
The game was short, 8 hours? Very short for a single player based game.
Combat was good, stealth was okay, it was actually pretty linear, just strongly story driven; which brings us back to the cliche and predictable story. The game is overrated by many gamers and game sites.
The game is good, but no where near perfect like you guys say it is.

naw, uncharted two and heavy rain are two of the greatest gaming experiences i've ever had in life. and i've played a lot of games on many systems. it's all subjective, but uncharted two is simply divine.I agree, the whole game is the same with a different background; there's no memorable moments or anything that stands out, just shooting the same generic enemies the whole game with an occasional lame and obvious puzzle. The whole game is exactly the same with a different background and the story is lame.

1. the story is not bad. in fact it was hollywood worthy, one of the better storytelling attempts in gaming, with exemplary voice acting. i disagree with all flash no substance, let's reserve that for cod.
2. didn't get around to the multiplayer, so i'll withhold comment.
3. i played on hard, and it ran me longer than 8 hours. the game wasn't short to me. every game doesn't require an rpg length. it was long enough.
4. gunplay is crisp, fun, fast, and satisfying, plus the hand to hand accentuate the weaponry. the stealth sufficed, for it's not a game of stealth, for the most part. linear games don't bother me. since when does every game have to have multiple paths. it's a linear game, accept it.
5. i usually don't pay much attention to reviews, but ig and gamespot gave it a 95, while 1up gave it an 100. that's holds some weight.

Yes, it is Hollywood worthy. About as worthy as another video game movie. It's cliche, average and predictable, like most of Hollywood. You better describe the substance in it for me. Character development? I saw zilch. Predictable? Yes, very much so. Hackneyed? Yes again. I will agree on the Voice acting. I'm playing through Alan Wake right now, and the voice acting is pretty horrid in comparison with UC2.So you didn't even play the multiplayer? Nice.
8 hours is short. Take it or leave it. Crysis was around 12 - 13 hours for most people, and that was on normal difficulty first run through. Or how about Half Life 2? Now that was a long game.
Yes, the gameplay was good, but a game can't be perfect off of those merits, and frankly, that's about the only thing going for this game. Other games have better gameplay, so how is this game as perfect as you believe it is again?
no, i'm just too lazy to dissect it. but here we go...[QUOTE="godsendBLISS"]

i never said the game was perfect. in regards to the multiplayer, by the time i purchased the game, the multiplayer wasn't on my agenda, as it isn't with most games. i'm a single player gamer at heart, and usually don't care too much about multiplayer, which is something else every game doesn't require. hail to single player gamers. i enjoyed the story. yeah it had some cliches, but i thought it was quite engrossing and entertaining. what kind of super character development were u looking for? what score would u have given the game?Apparently everygame that does extremely well scores wise is overrated.
From all the games to have come out this gen, Uncharted2 is not in the slightest shape or form overrated.
It has the best graphics 5 year old hardware can produce
Multiple times Game of the Year
Is amazing at what it does....perfectly
And gave us one of the best interactive and cinematic expiriences if not the best cinematic action/experiences this generation
So lads...........do me a favor ;)

haters gonna hate. Decent story MAGNIFICENT storytelling great characters solid gameplay amazing graphics fantastic multiplayer Linear (which is better then open world)campzorI could never get into the MP in U2 i just didn't find it i dunno..... engaging? I wouldn't call it terrible but i certainly would not call it "Fantastic".
I heard about Uncharted when I was thinking of buying a PS3, then I saw videos for Uncharted 2 (which was still a bit from release) and it peeked my interest so I bought and played Uncharted 1 when I got a PS3. Needless to say they are two amazing games and easily my favorite new IP this gen so far.
After beating both, I don't know where people come up with engaging characters and masterful story. They both were stupid stories and the game has too many lapses in logic. I love how there are always ample gernade launchers and RPG's just laying around everytime Nate takes on a choper or how the main villains are cookie cutter bad guys. ND needs to stop because the characters are laughably generic...
