Uncharted is overrated

Im the opposite.. I loved Uncharted 1, but I didn't really like uncharted 2 as much... I didn't really like the level design at all. The explosions and helicopter stuff was cool, but other than that I didn't really like it. The enemies were lame, it takes WAY too many bullets to kill guys, especially those shotgun dudes with the armor.. I mean it just completely clashed with the rest of the game, drake is supposed to be this like more real down to earth character.. but when he has to pump 20 shot gun shells into a dude to kill him I just think thats a bit backwards. The humor wasn't funny and was incredibly forced, and the story was just like the same as the first game. I liked it but I didn't really love it.

It was something new. Very rare does parkour, 3rd person shooting, story-telling, and exploration mesh so well in a video game. That's why I love it.

It certainly is, people were hyping it to like Halo CE/ Half Life 2/ RE4 status, I just didn't feel it though it was still good.-RocBoys9489-

Um Uncharted 2 outscored all those games, Halo CE isn't even in the top 10. However, you're entitled to your opinion. You'll just have to deal with the fact that your opinion is in the minority.

Let's take time and analyze the characters and story:

1. Nate Drake - Indiana Jones wannabe that spews cliches everytime he gets into trouble and has about 1/8th of the charisma of Indy.

2. Sully - pointless old man that couldn't shoot enemy soldiers in front of him and spews senile stupidity.

3.Elena -Lois Lane wannabe that's the weakest action heroine ever, yet Nathen's love interest. Only because she is more masculine then him,

4. Chloe - the toughest character in the game constantly swerving back and forth. She should be lead, not Nathen.

5. Lazarovich - cheap russian knockoff bad guy leaing the 2nd dumbest army in a game next to the army in Uncharted 1.

Now the 'great' story: Nathen is out trying to stop Lazarovich from finding another ancient artifact that would make Laz's arm unstoppable. A direct rip off of any Indiana Jones movie. Plot 'twists' include Chloe swerving back and forth , trying to figure out why this army leaves explosive ordinence out and available in random places and how a modern era machine gun ended up in the basement of a temple that has been unoccupied for hundreds of years. The people that think this is a great story should watch the 'Danger Island' serial form the 70's show 'Banana Splits' you would think that was as equally brilliantly writtten,,,,

I don't think you've even played UC2, so you should just stop. UC2 has a much better storyline than Gears of War will ever have. Marcus Fenix is about as likable as a bucket of cat litter. He has literally no character development, same goes for all character in the Gears universe. Gears barely has a storyline at all and if any series is overrated here on GS, its Halo and Gears.

Yeah right, I didn't play it yet I know about the room in the ancient temple with a spiked ceiling and an MP40 laying around even though there would be no way anyone could leave an MP40 there because the only way in is with a special dagger that only Nate had that was previously used 100's of years earlier or Nate at the end choosing Elen, Chloe saying' you'll miss my butt' and leaving and then Sully the useless chasing after her. It isn't hard to write the story for this series, Pick an old world explorer that magically kept a journal of an ancient civiliztion that holds an artifact that will make any person invincable and then have a tired cliched villian chasing after it but not being able to find it because Nate is the only person that can decifer the journall te explorer kept. ND just rehashed the plot of any Indiana Jones movie...

BTW, while you are slamming on Gears. At least it makes plausible sense why ordinence is laying around due to an army fighting off an invasion. You can't answer why both armies in U2 leave randomly placed Gernade Launhers or RPG's all over the place. Seriously, if you were going to transport a tank or RPG's would you just leave the tank fully loaded and just lay every RPG randomly on every 4th or 5th care?

No I can't agree with this 2 is one of the best games I have ever played.

I love Uncharted 2 because it really was close to a perfect game. Why is it overrated? They say a lot of games deserve the praise they get.Okay, MGS4, story was great, but what about online? The online wasn't very well made yet it got 10/10. Halo? Fantastic Multiplayer, engaging story and characters? Not so much. Masterchief pretty much has no emotions and the story really isn't all that great (I'm talking Halo as an overall series). Mass Effect? Great story, but bad combat system. Uncharted 2 has a good story and a good combat system, Gears 2 had glitchy online, Resident Evil 5, Crysis, LittleBigPlanet, all these games are praised but have lots of flaws. Uncharted 2 did everything very very well, online, co-op, support, story, gameplay, graphics, music, everything. IMO the only thing that comes close to Uncharted 2 is Oblivion but that's because I'm a sucker for open world RPG's and I'm currently loving Oblivion. Plus remember than Naughty Dog said that they want Uncharted 3 to have the best multiplayer on the PS3. It deserves all the praise it gets, heck look at the reviews for it, even the reviewers couldn't seem to find flaws, and the few that were found were either nitpicky or dismissable. Complaints about bugs and glitches were very low too.

Drake's Fortune is one of my favorite games this gen, and if 2 didn't do everything better, I'd still play it. I'm a huge fan of the franchise, and I won't say either are overrated, but I can understand people arguing the second is. The first is a phenominal game that didn't get the recognition it deserved until the sequel came out.

I enjoyed the hell out of the first uncharted, on of my favorite ps3 games, UC2 is overrated IMO.

The graphics are definitely overrated....for some reason people have this idea that when a game gets a GOTY award it automaticly has the best graphics in the world...

Except gaming has changed since then. Now all you get is advertising hype and budgets that dictate game awards. It's turned into a huge farce and is just as bad as the Academy Awards or the Grammies. It's a huge joke now.

Just look at Gamespot awards for instance. Halo: Reach over Bad Company 2? That's a joke.

Mass Effect 3 over Fallout: New Vegas? Another joke.
