[QUOTE="3picuri3"][QUOTE="Kashiwaba"]even kojima harped on the PS3. read your stuff. he blamed it for MGS4 falling short of his vision, said he was given conflicting information about what was possible / what the reality was. not that hard to find the interview. after that why don't you read up on the other dozen or more developers that have harped on the PS3 re: memory bottlenecks, overly complicated hardware not meant for gaming (actually designed for medical imaging first and foremost), slow BRD access times, having to make redundent data copies on BRD to compensate, etc, etc, etc. it's all out there, either ignore it and think they're just lazy, or get used to the FACT that the PS3 is unnecessarily complex with little reward to counter-balance the extra effort. 3rd place, smallest install base, some of the worst software sales, and an arrogant executive staff for all countries they operate in. record losses this year, largest in 15+ years... OUCH, this post just owned Sony. the cell owned sony :PAnother lazy Devs just admit it Fanboys Kojima didnt say its complicated, none of Capcom devs said its complicated , Sony 1st party are making the best games on PS3 this generation without saying its complicated , Sega didnt say its complicated and the list is very long so its obvious they are just too lazy.

Valve are MS fanboys. They make some good games but other than that they are *******s
Edit: I used to like them but the hole €1=$1 problem on steam is just stupid.

They are the best developers in the world imo.
As I said them make good games but thats no excuse to rip off europeans
Unfortunatelly is not only valve that rip us europeans but all companies including EA, activision, ubisoft etc etc since they all seem to think 1euro=$1 but microsoft and sony took it a step further ( at least in smaller countries like the one i live) by releasing their games at 70euros
[QUOTE="Jared2720"] If money is so important, and Valve has such, as you claim, limited resources, why are they consistently one of the most acclaimed game development companies in the world? Is it magic? Rhetorical. Don't bother. I wouldn't want to leave you in awe again.Verge_6Perhaps because they use their limited resources wisely? But no, such things are impossible. Also, I'm still in absolute awe. Keep on truckin', it's better than the awe I felt watching Star Trek.
exactly. it's a well known fact they're where they are today because they hire smart, don't over hire, and often focus on recruiting talented mod creators for their previous projects. it's an excellent business model. far better than hiring 500 staff for a project with a hollywood budget that barely breaks even (looking at your KZ2).
why have your extremely talented staff shift off a project to work on learning the Cell which might not make an appearance in another console ever? why? to make some Sony fans happy? to appease Sony? it's nonsense.

Sony 1st party devs have 4+ years to work with, and internal funding from Sony, Valve doesn't want to waste their time like that, they more productive things to do.Capcom , Konami , Sega, Namco , EA games and rockstat do they spend 4+ years with internal funding too admit it lazy ass devs.
No, but their multiplats are usually inferior to the 360 version.[QUOTE="MJPK"]

[QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="Jared2720"]Sounds like some of the employees at Valve need to start taking some classes at Naughty Dog University.Jared2720...Did you seriously just compare them to a 1st party Sony dev team that receives massive amounts of funding from aforementioned company? Seriously? I did, yes. Your reading comprehension skills are impressive. Money is irrelevant in this discussion. Money doesn't make people better at making games. It's about the knowledge/talent of those working on the platform. What you're essentially implying is that Sony/Naughty Dog has more talented software engineers. Bear in mind, I'm not talking about game design; that, like money, is irrelevant in this discussion. Naughty Dog has put together perhaps the most technically impressive console game ever made in under two years. Granted, they've had the engine--the one they built from scratch--for quite some time, but that doesn't diminish the fact that they don't seem to be having any problems working within the Playstation 3 architecture like your boys at Valve seems to be having. If Valve is such a remarkable game development company, why are they not investing in people who understand how to do these things. Hence my first post. Thanks. Have a great day.
Surfice to say uncharted and uncharted 2 are no where near as fun as any thing out of valve, and money means every thing money means you can hire people to do your coding and likely when your a 1st party your parent company just goes ahead and gives you coders to begin with. Naughty dog being a 1st party makes ALL the differences if they weren't then they'd not make nearly the games they have on ps3.
1.) Valve aren't lazy. They don't NEED the PS3. Taking the time to learn the Cell's new/unfamiliar architecture isn't really a necessity for them. 2.) They make enough money from Steam and porting games to 360 (which the are familiar with the architecture). 3.) I hope they get around this "too complicated" mindset and provide PS3 owners with their amazing games.http://loot-ninja.com/2009/06/09/valve-shuts-out-too-complicated-ps3/

[QUOTE="Dante2710"]*looks at replies* im speechless honestly and a bit sad......people are actually comparing sony`s developers to valve`s caliber? only in SW BoloTheGreatThis is an example of why the PS3 community tends to be a tincy bit looked down upon, they jump on anyone who does anything against their world view. This is Vale people FREAKING VALVE! you know, HL, CS, CSS, HL, TF2, Portal, HL2; episodes, L4D. Has almost single-handedly revolutionised DD on the PC. Gives epic support to modders, even inviting team dystopia to their HQ for a week to use their stuff free of charge? Any of this ringing a bell? which makes me realize how the majority who are posting here are actually giving the playstation fans a bad name, hmm.
Valve really is a crappy developer who get's too much praise. They are using a damn quake 3 quality engine basically and havent done crap to update it's lightmaps to dynamic lighting. lazy ass developers, left 4 dead sucks and left 4 dead 2 looks like left 4 dead 1 except diff map lolgoddamndude
hehehe, new account for this. for shame my friend, for shame.

unfortunately here in cyprus console games are 65-70euros ( but atleast they come down to the 60 price point a month or 2 after release) but fortunately pc games cost the same as other countries (usually 40-45euros) and there stores that have them even at lower pricesdeveloping on another console requires a lot set up costs. new equipent, new staff, training- the whole 9 yards..

Not really true. Especially in the case of EA, Namco, and Capcom.
But in the case of HL2 they actually made it look better :P But that is the only exception, the rest of the valve games look and play better on PC.Valve games are meant to played on PC anyways.
The 360 versions of their games are usually gimped and get no support like TF2.STRETCH-E
if you believed what you were saying you'd obviously stand behind it by not posting anon :)3picuri3There was this one demotivational poster that had some picture of a low-level user trolling, and it read "Alts: When you don't have the cajones to really say it"
if you follow dev diaries they're actually saving the TF2 360 update until all ****s are updated due to the certification nightmares with the xbox. so they definitely do plan to update it, just not until they're done with the PC version.Valve games are meant to played on PC anyways.

with tf2 being your ONLY example so far, one example doesn't set a trend so usually is the wrong word.Valve games are meant to played on PC anyways.

They are not THAT bad, T.O.B. is like £10 on 360 now, that's worth it for the updated version of HL2 they have in that version IMO (has added bloom, HDR, dynamic shadows [Which many modern games lack] and various improved models). I bought both, because I'm like that :PValve games are meant to played on PC anyways.

oh yes because the orange box on the ps3 was so amazing...
left 4 dead's lighting ***** *** stupid lightmaps static lighting goddamndudeOn a 4 year old engine, it looks brilliant, plus it can run on real crappy computers and still look great. What's the point of dynamic lighting in LEft 4 Dead? I can't see the advantage when it's set at night time, plus 50% of the time there is a red/orange filter over the action.

I own both systems so I just don't really care. As long as I get my XBox games from Valve, and my good PS3 exclusives from other producers, then those who only have a PS3 can suck it.
Well; I'm glad I have a PC and 360 to play their games on then.
It's a shame though, everyone should play the awesomeness that is Half Life and it's sequels.

UK is not to bad, £40 is standard for games be pre-owned has been a god-send price wise, I recently picked up both PoP and Mirrors edge together for £30.for our new friend:
The third method, shown at the E3 convention in 2005, used floating point data to define the RGB color space, allowing for reasonably efficient storage of the HDR data. However, this method also did not allow for multisample anti-aliasing, and was only compatible with Nvidia video cards, leaving ATI cards unable to run HDR.[5] The fourth and final method compromised between the second and third methods, using overbrightening textures sparingly and allowing ATI cards to render HDR in a different way to the Nvidia ones while nearly producing the same end result.[5]
from the Wiki on Lost Coast. so you know Valve is fully capable of doing it - they just didn't want a non multisampled world with jaggies where not ATI users could benefit from the effect. so it appears they cater to gamers, not lighting lovers - like yourself. and for that, i am happy.
Sounds like some of the employees at Valve need to start taking some classes at Naughty Dog University.Jared2720No they need to run their business as they see fit. Shame to leave PS3 money on the table though.

I wasn't referring to installs, I'm referring to how the game looks, feels, and plays. If the games are on par with each other, we can hardly call them "inferior."
And even 360 games play better when they're installed to the Hard Drive. I was really happy when they included that feature with the "New Xbox Live Ewxperience."
Yeah becuase ND created HL, HL2, Portal, TF2 and L4D all of which have recived numerous GOTY awards, especially HL2 and HL which is rearged by some as the greatest game of this decade and HL of the last. Oh wait, they didn't. That was Valve. Valve also created CSS and CS, still 2 of the most popular competative shooters. I think if anyone should be teaching it should be VALVE. ND created all those games you mentioned above for the PLAYSTATION3? really^Learn to read, but back on topic I can understand valves stance on the issue. They just want to pump out great titles, let them do so. Plus its their prerogative to make whet ever games they choose for what ever console they wish.[QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"]
