[QUOTE="STRETCH-E"]

Valve games are meant to played on PC anyways.

The 360 versions of their games are usually gimped and get no support like TF2.

3picuri3

if you follow dev diaries they're actually saving the TF2 360 update until all ****s are updated due to the certification nightmares with the xbox. so they definitely do plan to update it, just not until they're done with the PC version.

- I'm REALLY REALLY craving those updates  . I bought Orange Box on 360 AND PC. But my PC doesn't run it smoothly at all :(.

- Right now I only play CS 1.6 and KZ2 until I can pay for my new parts. I play TF2 on 360 every now and then, but it pains my soul just knowing the updates are available on PC !

Unlucky :(.Companys like to rip off the EU for some reason.

UK is not to bad, £40 is standard for games be pre-owned has been a god-send price wise, I recently picked up both PoP and Mirrors edge together for £30.

The UK isn't bad but I live in the Republic of Ireland.Games were €70-€75 a few years ago but they have went down in price.I get alot of my games sent out from England(play.com,amazon etc) as it works out cheaper.

Doesn't play.com use Euros for Ireland?

[QUOTE="bingbaocao"][QUOTE="standarddamage"]Not really true. Especially in the case of EA, Namco, and Capcomstandarddamage

What about the fact that pretty much every capcom multiplat requires you to install the game on your PS3? (and there's also lost planet)

I wasn't referring to installs, I'm referring to how the game looks, feels, and plays. If the games are on par with each other, we can hardly call them "inferior."

And even 360 games play better when they're installed to the Hard Drive. I was really happy when they included that feature with the "New Xbox Live Ewxperience."

well yeah, the games are the same, but it's likely that it's due to mandatory installs

To expand on this, i prefer the look valve have gone for using this method. There is less of a camera and more of an eye adaptation feel to the HRD and the Bloom. Also Hl2 EP2 and HL2 in the orange box both use fully dynamic shadows systemswhich is actually pretty freaking impressive.

he obviously doesn't even understand how source can use floating point HDR and real HDR solutions - if he'd done his homework he'd know they used a compromise / combination solution to make the effect available to the largest group of people. he also fails the mention that riddick and doom didn't allow for HDR in combination with FSAA/AF, which imho is far more important. lighting means **** to me if everything is jaggy as hell.

Dude it's obvious you dont know what per pixel dynamic lighting is and high dynamic range lighting is they are 2 different things i feel like calling you a idiot. because you are and it's obvious you've done no home work acting like u know what ur talking about SOURCE ENGINE USES STATIC LIGHTMAPS IT'S NOT PER PIXEL LIGHTING DYNAMIC SHADOWS LIKE DOOM3 OR PER VERTEX DYNAMIC SHADOWS LIKE THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICKK it's a fake source engine's lighting sucks compared to riddick or doom3's. source engine has same lighting as quake 3 lightmaps except they threw in HDR which is a bloom effect basically makes sun look intense and if you face opposite direction of the sun the sun will be giving off a glow on the objects sun's casting on.

another new account to back up your staggering knowledge? ok then...

souce engine is capable of HDR if you did your homework. they can actually do 4 different types of dynamic lighting, again - if you'd done your reading.

It never ceases to amaze me the extent PS3 users go to in order to blame everyone and everything other than their platform for PS3 development difficulties.

Then there's no real argument then. :D

Seriously, Bing, installs are a good thing most of time. They save a lot of strain on the disc drive, prevent burn rings, etc. Whether or not there's a mandatory install is pretty irrelevent.

Installs don't change the picture, what changes the picture is when there's gameplay and visual issues. Fallout 3 was an excellent example. The PS3 version wasn't a total wreck, but I was amazed that there were so many bugs as compared to the 360 version.

Hmm, why is everyone so upset. Valve can choose to run it's business however they want, with that said I think it's a bit retarded not to support the PS3 with ports like they did with the Orange Box. I mean 20 million PS3s on the market and sourcing out ports should be easy money. :|

Except it ain't easy money. At all. Most of the time you have to create a whole new farking team to work on the other version, which takes away vital resources from the other team (doubly so for the sparingly-staffed Valve). Then there's the time and money spent on research so the other variant can utilize the other console's hardware in the most efficient manner.

EA ported the Orange Box not Valve. And I agree they should port more games. Either that or PS3 owners buy a 360 or upgrade their PC. Valve games are timeless. I urge everyone to at least try them.

Are PS3 users really so insecure they must attack anyone who points out their platform is a **** to develop for?

I remember back when Joan Carmack said the PS3 was twice as hard to develop for to get the same result as 360. PS3 users said he was too incompetent to code on PS3, John Carmack they said that about!

Does all this really matter, In actuality I"m glad that PS3 is shut out, Valve only has to focus on PC then porting to 360 which means they can focus all their resources into the game. If the game is really that great and worth playing get a gaming rig or a 360. Hell Half Life 2 is the reason why I upgraded my pc a few years back, to say Valve is lazy is just crazy, and for people saying that the PS3 is a PoS is just as crazy, just because a developer chooses not to develop for it? Both Consoles have great titles, but valve favoring one over the other doesn't really prove itsa PoS all it shows is that Valve is dedicated to their craft and rather than dividing resources, would rather focus on one and in order to put out a better product.

So PS3 Orange Box sold bad or something? Because it doesn't sound to me like they had to work with the difficult PS3 system if others ported it for them. I guess the sales must not have been impressive or something.

And I agree, Half-Life is one of my favorite games ever and there are alot of silly people here bashing Valve's great talent as developers.

no, they choose not to due to sony arrogance. read the article. they join the long long list of developers criticizing sony for their hardware choices. if anything they are being sensible, and level-headed. we already know 2-3 2nd/3rd party developers that leaned heavily on the PS3 and Sixaxis controls that have gone under or posted serious operational losses. that's what i'd call 'falling behind'.

because a dev desides to focus on two similar architecture platforms ( 2 platforms that have alot of success especially pc) that make them bad? How is it different from rockstar developing agent for ps3 only? Do you still think they are falling behind because they will develop only for ps3? if that was the case then every game would be released on every major system

It is a legitimate criticism, whenever the PS3 is criticised or falls behind they always blame everyone else and never accept that the console may be to blame.

It's petty to blame some of the leading developers in the industry when it is common knowledge PS3 uses a none standard CPU, one developers have consistently criticised as being difficult to develop for.

Is that not their job however? I mean an airplane engineering could find the new engine parts overly difficult and needlessly complicated and might prefer the old ones which worked just as well but isn't it his job to suck it up and work with the new parts?

Awesome, Valve don't expect my money to grace your wallets anytime soon.

You have a PC, why does this news bother you?

Maybe he doesn't have a PC? It is possible to lie on the internet. Or did you forget with the purchase of a PS3 you get a PC that can max out Crysis 5.

Tssk Tssk.. lazy devs confirmed

If they don't want to waste time on trying to figure out the baffling architecture of the PS3 doesn't mean they're lazy, it just means they aren't a fan of wasting time. Valve has usually been good about releasing quality titles in succession. To call them lazy would be ignorant at best, the devs that have actually had the will to ATTEMPT to figure out the ordeal that is the PS3 were usually funded by Sony themselves, so we can expect a lot of this in the future.

How would you consider it wasting time to figure out how to develope for another console and make even more money by developing for said console? I think they're lazy and don't want to figure out how to do it. They've always developed for the PC and since the 360 uses a very similar programming architecture they get by pretty easily on it. If the 360 was any more difficult I'm sure they'd just stick to the PC. Its sad when new studios visceral can master the system when an old pro can do nothing more than whine about it being too complicated. Valve is so tired.
